The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 744 - 421 Human Pus
Chapter 744: Chapter 421 Human Pus
Asa’s laughter stopped abruptly as if a drake’s neck had been squeezed.
"What?"
His soul clung tightly to the base of the Obelisk, flattening his face against it. Unlike the Book of Knowledge, he was an outsider, a prisoner who could only see through the Dream Realm to witness Rod’s vision.
"How is this possible? The statue of the ancient Heroic Spirit was destroyed with a single blow..."
Asa’s face resembled a thin pancake, his eyeballs bulging like eggs on top.
"The legend says this is the Hall built by the gods to commemorate the Heroic Spirits for humanity. Its guardian statues, infused with Divine Power, were formidable creations such that even falling into the Abyss for unknown reasons, they remained invincible."
"Could the power of the Abyss have corroded the statue?"
The Book of the Future also found it hard to believe, and it began flipping through its pages, trying to glimpse the future of this powerful being, but the pages were completely black, devoid of any imagery.
It suddenly realized that during the era of the Book of Destiny, it had not affected his fate directly; they had merely stirred the omnipresent disasters of the world, triggering and intensifying a formidable threat, thus indirectly influencing him.
"That Asa... could he truly succeed? How could such a powerful warrior be outsmarted by that fool? No, no, no, that’s impossible, there must be some other reason."
The Book of Knowledge said in his mind, "Master, I sense an extraordinary threat. This is an independent space located within the Abyss, perhaps a branch or fragment of it. We might be able to uncover the secrets of the Abyss through it and find the source of the Black Fog."
Rod was startled, "Book, is the Abyss related to the Black Fog?"
"I cannot be sure."
Replied the Book of Knowledge.
"The true nature of the Black Fog is a secret that countless people have pursued for tens of thousands of years. The origin of the Abyss is one possibility, a theoretical conjecture; no one can be certain."
Rod noted down the words of the Book of Knowledge and arrived at the broken clay figure with some regret, only to find it soulless, merely a creation of Spiritual Energy and Pollution.
Kaiso said gravely, "I sense a pollution similar to that of the Giant of Pus, this place must be the source of the disaster!"
Rod repeated the words of the Book of Knowledge to them.
Kaiso’s expression turned grim, "You’re right, this place is similar to an Abyss Rift, but it’s not an actual Abyss Rift. The power of pollution and corrosion here, though not very intense, holds a much higher position than a typical Abyss Rift. We must be careful, the true Abyss is a dark side not even gods can reach, filled with too many unknowns. We need to quickly find the source of the Giant of Pus’ pollution and eliminate it, then leave this place promptly."
Alan blew a soft whistle, and their three Spiritual Horses dissolved into mist.
"Let’s go."
He walked toward the unfathomably deep recesses of the hall, his blue knight armor standing out starkly in the shadows and making no sound, as though it were merely an ordinary garment.
Kaiso followed closely, asking, "Lord Rod, it seems you have some understanding of this ancient Heroic Spirit Hall?"
Rod smiled, rarely ever taking credit for others’ achievements unless absolutely necessary.
"Indeed."
He recounted Asa’s words and asked in his mind, "Asa, what else do you know? Tell me everything."
Asa snorted but recalled the deal he made with Rod and the bet that concerned the very foundation of his existence, and said, "It doesn’t matter if I tell you; your fate of destruction is inevitable, whatever I do will not change that..."
"In legends, the ancient Heroic Spirit Hall was created by several gods to commemorate the Heroic Spirits and chronicled their existence, transforming them into guardian Holy Spirits for humanity. But for unknown reasons, it eventually fell into the Abyss and was lost until today, when you guys discovered it."
Rod asked, "Book, do you remember anything about this history?"
The Book of Knowledge flipped through its pages and answered, "This appears to be a very secretive piece of history, I have no recollection of it."
Asa scoffed, "Of course you wouldn’t remember, it never truly surfaced, remaining unknown until it fell into the Abyss."
Rod frowned and asked, "How do you know about it?"
Asa said arrogantly, "One of my Soul Fragments belonged to one of its creators."
The Book of the Future, full of confusion, asked, "In which Epoch did this occur?"
Asa scoffed, "Fool, you claim to be the Book of the Future, yet you cannot deduce this? In an Epoch where gods existed, naturally, it was the Second Epoch. After the great extinctions and disasters, when gods ceased to exist, could such a grand scale Heroic Spirit Hall be built in the Third Epoch?"
Rod knew that the Second Epoch was celebrated as the Epoch of Gods, a time when humans and gods together battled against the Black Fog.
It was said that the Black Fog originated during some period of this Epoch.
And the Third Epoch, known as the Epoch of Fire, also called the Epoch of Man, where only the starry brilliance of human heroes shone, devoid of any divine presence.
After the fall of the Starry Kingdom, they entered the Fourth Epoch, the current Epoch, known as the Dark Epoch when the fires were slowly extinguishing.
In this Epoch, the earth was enveloped by the Black Fog, and one Fire King City after another fell into darkness as the remaining humans struggled in desperation.
