Chapter 710: Chapter 407 The Beginning of Annihilation_2
Lucian paused for a moment, then continued.
"However, we’ve discovered that at the very bottom of this tunnel, there is some kind of unknowable, horrific space, similar to the existence of an Abyss."
"After discussion, the Royal City believes we absolutely must not disturb it. Therefore, our operation must be a one-hit kill; we absolutely cannot let a single Doomsday believer escape."
Rod pondered for a moment, then asked, "Lord Lucian, do the Doomsday believers know this information?"
Lucian slowly shook his head.
"I don’t think they know. Otherwise, Asa would have already triggered the Abyss and caused a disaster by now. But if they continue to go deeper, they’ll undoubtedly find out, so our time is limited."
He placed his finger on the map right in the center.
"Here, this is their current location. This cave is extremely hidden; it’s nearly impossible for ordinary people to discover it, but we have the White Tower."
Iyeta said indifferently, "Everything that exists leaves traces. They might have been able to delay for a while, but the interference of the Book of Destiny with the prophecies has suddenly relaxed, allowing us to locate them."
Lucian’s face darkened as he said, "We didn’t know why at first, and thought it was because the Book of Destiny had reached its limit. But now, we know. They’ve channeled their power into the fortress of the Soul Devouring King."
The room fell silent.
Lily’s death was a heavy blow for everyone. Losing any of the First Level Combatants, Trolian’s elite fighters, is a tremendous loss for humanity.
After a few seconds of silence, Lucian continued, "I plan to split our forces into three routes. We’ll enter the sewer here and proceed along these three routes to reach the deepest part of the sewer and launch a simultaneous attack from these three directions."
As he spoke, Lucian’s finger moved across the map, explaining each route in detail.
These were the most optimized routes, developed after careful study by those most knowledgeable about the sewers; they were the shortest, safest, and most unexpected.
The sewers were incredibly complex, and even with the simplest routes, it took Lucian a full quarter of an hour to explain.
"This is our plan of action. I’ll send the detailed steps to your hands later, and we will maintain communication at all times..."
Rod frowned as he looked at the map for a while, then suddenly said, "This is wrong."
The two turned their gazes to him.
Rod pointed to a line on the map, "Why should I walk through this passage?"
Lucian furrowed his brows and took a glance, "This is Harvey’s Passageway; it’s the closest route across the surface layer."
"Here, the North Passage is closer; why not take it?"
"There’s a large cluster of Poison Insect nests there, very troublesome..."
"I cleared them out last time; the Poison Insects won’t reproduce that fast."
Lucian looked at him in surprise, then remembered that the man before him was known as the king of the sewers.
Rod didn’t mind his look and continued to draw on the map, wildly revising their routes.
"This, this, this, and here don’t make sense. This route is obviously quicker, this one’s close but there’s a group of fart bugs. I am not afraid, but it will leave the team staggered and dazed by the stench. And here..."
A moment later, the entire route was altered beyond recognition.
Rod took a deep breath, "That’s better. Although I am not very familiar with the sewer’s deeper routes, I have done some research."
It took Lucian a long time to recover before he let out a long sigh, a hint of relief on his aged face, "You never disappoint."
Iyeta cracked a smile, "This is the king of the sewers we’re talking about. You miscalculated, Lucian."
"No, no," Rod hurriedly interrupted, "That’s all rumors, I just did some research and visited the sewers a few more times."
Lucian nodded deeply, "Yes, I miscalculated."
He stood up and donned the robe of the Judgment Chief.
"Let’s go," he said, "These Doomsday believers have lived long enough. It’s time to put an end to their Doomsday."

The hunting teams were already prepared, their supplies, Potions, and items all ready; the three of them led three hunting teams down into the sewers from three different directions, the expensive Spiritual Energy communicators keeping them in constant contact.
Rod’s team was accompanied by twenty elite Judgers. Although their Combat Levels were not as high as Rod’s, every one of them was battle-hardened, experienced, and very familiar with the sewers.
The leading captain, renowned as a master of the sewers, took one look at Rod’s youthful face and instantly dismissed the title of ’King of the Sewers’ as pure bluster.
Even if he was a rising star, blessed with talent and abundant resources, he was still young. How many times could he have ventured into the sewers?
He had resolved that, even at the risk of displeasing Rod, he would have to point out the correct way to traverse the sewers.
But unexpectedly, as soon as they entered the sewers, Rod, who appeared unremarkable and lacked the aura of a powerful being, underwent a drastic transformation.
His expression was calm and composed, his eyes sharp, his mouth free of arrogance or impatience, his brows steady and measured, his strides large yet delicate, his body powerfully built and imposing—a peerless strength emanated from him, compelling involuntary reverence.
Indeed, on their way, Rod charged through heedlessly, completely ignoring the potential dangers of the complex sewers. He moved with a speed that seemed to whip up a breeze beneath his feet, navigating through the labyrinth as if he were returning home.
The vile monsters lurking in the sewers caused him no trouble at all; his right hand wielded a sword that flashed with lethal precision, beheading creatures, while his left hand fired the Star Shuttle, blasting the monsters into dust and bone.
For many, the sewers were like a fiery mountain or a sea of knives, but to Rod, it was as casual as his own backyard.
With leisurely strides, they moved from the upper layer straight down to the lowest level.
Had their surroundings not been so oppressive, they might have likened the journey to a stroll in the park.
In the darkest depths of the sewers, near semblance to the primitive cave, their meager light could illuminate only the immediate vicinity.
The roar of a massive body of water echoed in the darkness—the Eternal River that cut through the Royal City. Its source lay deep within the Dark Great Plain to the north, and it flowed downstream thousands of yards to a foul-smelling swamp, carrying away half of the city’s filth.
Above them, like a tangle of vines, stretched the withered roots.
These were the roots of the Holy White Tree of the Royal City, extending deep underground, though many parts had died.
Three rivers passed through the Royal City, but the Eternal River was the only one not purified by the Holy White Tree and also the deepest of the subterranean rivers.
Its waters, utterly black, bore a plethora of filth, trash, and corpses.
What lurked beneath the water was unknown to all, and none cared to find out.
It was exceedingly dangerous to walk along such a river, and Rod made a point of leading them around it.
"We have reached our designated location,"
said Rod.
"Let’s rest here for a moment and wait for the other two teams to arrive."
The team members looked at each other, realizing they had traversed the entire route without even catching their breath.
But as soon as Rod spoke, they complied without question.
Throughout the journey, his performance had earned the respect of everyone; they all marveled at how a rising star deserved their reputation, thinking that only someone surpassing ordinary people in every way could stand at the forefront of humanity and lead them forward.
Rod also closed his eyes and quietly waited for Iyeta and Lucian.
His knowledge reached only this far; one more layer deeper, and they would be beyond the scope of the sewers.
He had to be patient. This operation had to eradicate all those loathsome maggots, to sprinkle their ashes before the statue of Lily—a lady he didn’t know intimately, but who had left a deep impression on him.
Just then, the Book of Knowledge in his mind suddenly spoke.
——
——
In the gloomy cavern,
a shadowy figure sat atop a rock, his book turning pages without a breeze, and its riddled pages fluttering to the ground.
Lines of red text slowly formed on the paper.
"Rod has come to the deep layers of the sewers, ready to hunt down his enemies, but he has no idea of the fate that awaits him."
"Hahaha!"
The shadow laughed wildly.
"Finally, you have arrived, just as I had anticipated. Your hatred has blinded you, and I shall see hope in this dead end."
"The downfall of Trolian begins with you."
