Chapter 590: Chapter 354 Battle of the Source (Part 3)_2
Intense Spiritual Energy clashed against each other, creating powerful waves that pelted everyone’s faces like a torrential downpour.
No one was able to step forward to help Tai Luo; their forms were tangled together, blurring into an indistinguishable mass.
The fierce battle continued, but the white shadow gradually gained the upper hand. Suddenly, there was a loud clang, and the dark shadow was knocked down by the Giant Sword.
Tai Luo stomped on the dark shadow, hefting the Giant Sword high above his head before thrusting it downward with force.
With a booming sound, the Giant Sword pierced through the body of the Living Corpse Knight, nailing it to the ground.
"Rod, come quick!"
Rod charged forward and with a vigorous pull, the knight in the black cloak was torn asunder.
A thin black line entered his body, and a string of gray text flashed in Rod’s eyes.
[Dust-like Soul]
The text vanished as quickly as it appeared, and Rod almost thought he had seen incorrectly until he gave the Soul Altar another glance and confirmed that this super powerful Living Corpse Knight had, in fact, a Dust-like Soul!
A Dust-like Soul is the soul of a monster just born from the Black Fog; they are extremely weak, called the dust of the battlefield, and can be dealt with a mere sweep of the hand.
Why?
Rod stood stunned, scarcely believing his eyes and almost missing Tai Luo’s offer for a celebratory high-five.
"Well done, brother Rod, you have so many abilities; fighting alongside you is a real pleasure!"
Rod’s expression was vacant, he mumbled a few vague replies, intending to consult the Book of Knowledge, when suddenly, he saw another knight in a black cloak charging towards them.
Like all Living Corpse Knights, its soul was indistinct, its Spiritual Energy contained, and indiscernible. Its power could only be judged by its attire.
"Another Child of the Stars! At eleven o’clock!"
Rod yelled out. No matter how shocked, he hadn’t forgotten that they were in the midst of battle.
Iron Beard exclaimed, "Another one?"
Tai Luo laughed, "Don’t worry, Commander, I can still fight," he said as he lifted the Giant Sword to intercept the knight in the black cloak at eleven o’clock.
The intense battle kept everyone on edge, but Tai Luo, living up to expectations, severely wounded the knight known as a Child of the Stars for the second time, allowing Rod to execute it.
Again, [Dust-like Soul].
Rod was truly baffled. How could this be?
How could such a weak soul wield such immense power?
The body of the Child of the Stars was not much different from the other Living Corpse Knights; its formidable power could only come from a powerful soul.
Before Rod could think further, he saw yet another Child of the Stars approaching them slowly in the distance.
You’re kidding me, how many are there exactly?
After Rod relayed the information, everyone’s faces turned grave, but Tai Luo just laughed and said, "I can still fight," as he raised his Giant Sword to engage yet another Child of the Stars.
This time, the battle was clearly longer than the previous two, but Tai Luo managed to suppress it again and Rod executed it.
Again, [Dust-like Soul].
Rod furrowed his brow; he vaguely had an idea but hardly had time to ponder it when the fourth Child of the Stars showed up as expected.
What was worse, while Tai Luo was engaged in fierce combat, Rod saw the fifth Child of the Stars coming.
Iron Beard stopped all the warriors who intended to help Tai Luo; their sole task was to continue fighting the other Living Corpse Knights to prevent any from interfering with Tai Luo.
Even when faced with two adversaries, Tai Luo was still not at a disadvantage, and soon enough, he had severely wounded both, allowing Rod to execute them successfully.
But to their despair, after Rod received two more [Dust-like Souls], two more Children of the Stars appeared.
Everyone’s heart sank, but Tai Luo laughed loudly and drew his sword to meet the challenge.
This time, the situation took a turn for the worse. Tai Luo, having fought continuously, was exhausted, and most of his Spiritual Energy was depleted; he could no longer hold his own against the two Children of the Stars and began to falter.
It was then that Rod finally saw two more Stars Children emerging from the twisting Dar Phenomenon.
They were covered in a sticky black substance that stretched out in the Void like some disgusting saliva.
In a flash, the black substance hardened and disappeared, but Rod knew it hadn’t completely vanished; it was still tethering them like the fine threads of a puppet.
These Children of the Stars were controlled by the Dark Phenomenon!
Their power came from the Dark Phenomenon!
Their Dark Souls were nothing but freshly generated entities, residing as puppets within these powerful bodies.
The increasingly weaker Horror Demons were likely the same.
Upon understanding this, Rod immediately shouted, "Two more are coming; killing them is useless! These Living Corpse Knights are created and controlled by the Dark Phenomenon!"
Tai Luo quickly got the gist, "I got it!" he replied, turning to engage the two additional Children of the Stars.
He took on four at once, no longer attacking but concentrating entirely on defense. However, due to the excessive depletion of Spiritual Energy, he no longer shone except for his Giant Sword.
The four Children of the Stars launched thunderous attacks, and in mere moments, Tai Luo was in dire straits.
Iron Beard urgently said, "We must eliminate the Phenomenon quickly!"
Xingge didn’t speak; her entire being was immersed in the fire, her soul reaching a deeper resonance with the flames. She sensed the power of the fire, rooting herself with it against the deep and frigid darkness below, where a tense struggle was unfolding.
