Chapter 588: Chapter 353 Distorted Dark Phenomenon_2
"Ah!"
Rod cried out in pain, as if he had seen his wife being thrown into the recycling bin.
Tai Luo gave him a strange look, then turned to Xingge and said, "Reign in the power of fire, do not alert the monsters."
Xingge did as told, the firelight receded, the golden glow rolled back like the tide, and the black fog swept in, once again enveloping everyone.
A small flame cradled in Xingge’s palm, illuminating her pure white face like a white flower, made everyone momentarily feel the terror of the darkness was far away.
Tai Luo said, "Let the fire take root."
Letting the fire take root is generally a preliminary step to establishing a human settlement. Once the Guardian Fire takes root, its power will seep from the Material World into the Sea of Source. The field of fire will gradually expand, completely transforming the area into a place suitable for human habitation.
However, fire rooting normally takes 3 to 7 days, and the Black Forest is not suitable as a human settlement.
Xingge looked at him questioningly.
Tai Luo said gravely, "If the Guardian Fire takes root here, the power of fire will penetrate deep into the world’s foundation, disrupting and destroying the Black Fog’s erosive power. The twisted Dark Phenomenon will vigorously combat the fire, giving us a chance to find its weaknesses and eradicate its source."
The warriors looked at each other, feeling this method was feasible. Twisted Dark Phenomenon, isn’t it something that would be dispelled by fire?
But Iron Beard furrowed his brows and said gravely, "Tai Luo, if we do this, we’ll be surrounded by the area’s monsters."
Tai Luo nodded, "Don’t worry, Uncle Iron Beard, we have two rising human stars here, we can hold our ground."
Knowing that the combat abilities of rising stars cannot be simply measured by Combat Level or Spiritual Power Level, Iron Beard nodded, "Xingge, begin."
Xingge crisply said, "Okay, Uncle Iron Beard!"
She closed her eyes, her small hands gently pressing on either side of the flame, a few sparks slowly fell and sank into the ground.
Everyone heard an ethereal booming sound in their ears, like a giant rock falling into the depths of an empty valley, its echoing vibration lingering.
In the perception of their souls, that cold dead silence boiled up, malice surged out like exploding steam.
Tai Luo shouted, "Here they come!"
In Rod’s field of vision, the wandering Living Corpse Knights seemed startled, turning their heads simultaneously and charging towards them.
"One o’clock direction, nine! Six o’clock direction, twelve, three of which are Elite Knights! Ten o’clock direction, sixteen, six Elite Knights, two Captains!"
Rod quickly reported.
He had now roughly figured out the strength disparity among the Living Corpse Knights. Ordinary knights were about at the Fierce Level High Rank of monsters, Elite Knights at Strong Level Primary Rank. The few he had encountered alone were all Elite Knights, and Starry Knight Captains were at Strong Level Middle Rank.
Since they were Fallen, and strong warriors in life, their actual combat strengths were a rank higher than their station.
Tai Luo laughed, "It’s different having a complete Spiritual Visionary in the team, sensing can’t replace Spiritual Vision."
Rod nodded, "Spiritual Vision can’t replace sensing either."
He was now fully capable of Spiritual Vision, but not full sensing; some things still needed to be scouted by teammates.
Iron Beard, as the commander, quickly assigned tasks to the team, and said, "No one is to pursue too far, protecting Lady Xingge is the top priority..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the Living Corpse Knights were already in their faces.
Iron Beard shouted lowly, stepping forward to block three Elites.
The warriors also engaged in combat, the battle starting in an instant. Tai Luo, holding a Great Sword, single-handedly defended the ten o’clock direction. Powerful Spiritual Energy flowed through him, and the Great Sword emitted a strong white light. He rampaged through the horde, nothing could stop him, each flash of light he slashed down turned several knights into ash.
Among the team, only Rod was at a distance, standing beside Xingge, his fingertips condensing a Star Shuttle. Whenever he saw a Living Corpse Knight about to go down, he would shoot a Star Shuttle.
In most cases, Rod could snag a soul with his superb skills, except around Tai Luo.
With his sword, the whole entity shattered, leaving nothing to claim with a final blow.
Damn it!
I must never let this guy into my Black Battle Group; he’s a real scourge.
Before long, Rod suddenly yelled, "More are coming!"
In the distance, at least another thirty Living Corpse Knights charged towards them.
Rod quickly reported their positions, while Iron Beard adjusted the team as swiftly as possible.
The battle continued, and about fifteen minutes later, Rod shouted again, "More are coming! A lot more!"
This time it was at least fifty, including seven Living Corpse Knight Captains.
The battle became increasingly difficult, and Living Corpse Knights continued to crawl out from beneath the soil. As the enemies multiplied, the warriors began to falter, and some started to sustain injuries.
Rod hesitated about whether to use his trump card when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a tremendously bright light. Turning his head, he indeed saw Tai Luo, his entire body emanating an intense white light. His arms and legs had transformed into beams of light, and he was enveloped in it, looking several times larger, resembling a warrior of light.
Boom!
With a swing of his Giant Sword, a terrifying roar was emitted. A massive Light Blade swept across, slicing the Living Corpse Knights it touched into fragments.
Rod was completely stunned. "What... what is this thing?"
Xingge, half-opening her eyes, sneaked a glance at him. "This thing? This is Brother Tai Luo’s Light Giant. His characteristic is the power of light, which he uses to slay enemies."
"Light Giant?" Rod was immediately captivated by Xingge’s words.
"Yes," Xingge squinted her eyes, showing off her cute little fangs. "Brother Tai Luo has completely mastered Spiritualization; he can turn himself into a beam of light. The Light Giant is what he becomes when he expands the light, one of his ultimate skills, very, very impressive."
Rod was so shocked that he was speechless, watching the Light Giant wreak havoc among the Living Corpse Knights, unable to snatch even a single soul, his heart ached so much that he could hardly breathe.
"But how did his sword also grow larger?"
Xingge smiled, "Brother Tai Luo’s Giant Sword is his Soul Weapon, a part of his soul."
Alright.
I declare you are on my blacklist now.
Rod sighed in his heart.
Although you are a pillar of humanity, you’re the worst teammate I’ve ever had.
After the Light Giant appeared, the pressure in the battle instantly decreased, and all the warriors, except Rod, were boiling with passion, their faces flushed red.
Iron Beard exclaimed, "He truly is the legendary Great Sword Tai Luo. Using just half of his Light Giant form, he has stopped the Living Corpse Knights."
"He’s too strong!" a warrior said, filled with admiration. "No wonder Sir Tai Luo is called ’Little Alan’."
"When will I ever be that strong?"
"Don’t dream about it; he’s a once-in-several-centuries genius, humanity’s new star."
Amid the noise, the battle continued, but it didn’t pose much pressure on them anymore.
However, in the perception of souls, the boiling malice of the Dark Phenomenon still hadn’t subsided. Iron Beard forbade anyone from approaching that solidified darkness, waiting for it to reveal the vulnerability that Tai Luo spoke of.
The rooting of fire was underway, with a pale yellow shell gradually appearing in Xingge’s hands that slowly enveloped the fire, signifying the rooting process was nearing completion.
The situation seemed very favorable, but Rod felt something was off.
Looking around, there was nothing unusual.
Was it a misconception?
Rod thought, but the vigilance ingrained in his soul made him look up.
At that moment, he immediately noticed something was wrong—a huge shadow covered them.
"What is that thing?" Rod shouted.
Iron Beard looked up, and his expression instantly fell, "It’s bad! We need to get out of here!"
"It’s too late!" Tai Luo said gravely, "The fire is rooting. If we interrupt now, we will have to wait for the next sun cycle to start again."
"But this..."
Before he could finish, countless black dust particles swarmed from all directions, and the Living Corpse Knights that had been killed were all resurrected.
Iron Beard’s face looked terribly grim. This was the Dark Seal, one of the known Dark Phenomena in the Dark World.
In this area, monsters slain didn’t return to the Source, but recongregated and resurrected.
In Trolian, it was known as the most troublesome Dark Phenomenon, without parallel.
No one wanted to fight in it.
And they had just killed many Living Corpse Knights, all of whom resurrected in an instant, drastically turning the tide of battle.
Iron Beard clenched his teeth tightly.
"Eh?"
Suddenly, a warrior exclaimed, "Commander, why is that area empty?"
