The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 342 - 241: Super Invasion
Chapter 342: Chapter 241: Super Invasion
Rod felt a shock in his heart, "What should we do then?"
"Quickly leave these two areas! Hurry!"
The pages of the Book of Knowledge flipped crazily, showing its agitated mood.
Rod immediately lunged toward the Light Platform, grabbed the silver-white sphere, and his vision instantly switched to outside the Dream Bubble.
In the vast and foggy world, an endless gray river flowed below, numerous corpses and souls bobbing up and down, casting malevolent glances toward the bubble floating above.
This was the "River of Eternal Death" located in the High Rank Spirit Realm.
From the outside, it looked no different than before.
Rod paused for a moment, exited control mode, and asked, "Which direction should we go?"
The Book of Knowledge shook its pages, as if thinking.
"37 degrees to the right side, the City of Chaos is relatively safe! If we’re lucky, we might just be able to make it there smoothly."
Rod immediately returned to the control panel and shifted the direction of the bubble.
The bubble veered off its trajectory, blasting through a large swath of gray fog, flying toward an unknown distance.
Rippling waves traveled toward the far reaches of the River of Eternal Death until they disappeared into the invisible haze.
Rod watched the ripples with some nervousness, worried that they might attract attention.
After waiting for a moment, there seemed to be no disturbance.
Rod let out a light breath of relief.
It seemed to be safe, handsome boys are indeed lucky...
Boom!
Something seemed to vibrate in the void.
The River of Death began to boil, gray mists of death erupted, and the whole space became chaotic and unstable, with countless shadowy entities rushing from all directions.
Not just from the River of Eternal Death, but also from the side of the Abyss of Darkness, dark shadows charged toward him.
In extreme panic, Rod felt something hard rapidly moving beneath his feet, it was two words.
"Acceleration!"
Rod immediately sank his wrist, frantically channeling his spirituality into the silver sphere of the Light Platform.
The bubble began to accelerate, the ripples expanding swiftly, and a huge gray umbrella formed in front of the bubble, with a radius that was at least ten thousand yards.
The disturbance expanded rapidly, and a long tail streaked out behind the bubble.
Luckily, the bubble’s speed far exceeded their own, quickly leaving them out of sight.
Everything around him gradually became calm, leaving only the gray fog and ripples pushed aside by the high-speed traveling bubble.
Not knowing how long had passed, Rod felt a tap on his foot again and saw the Book of Knowledge wrote on it:
"Enough! You’re going to die!"
Only then did Rod realize that his soul had become weak and hurriedly let go.
Spirituality is the blood of the soul, using too much will lead to death.
As soon as he detached from the Light Platform, Rod felt dizzy and couldn’t help but collapse onto the ground.
The Book of Knowledge ran out puffing and panting, ran back in, hopped between his knees, and opened its pages, where a bunch of Potions were unexpectedly sandwiched.
"Recovery Potion for the soul, eat it now."
A sense of gratitude surfaced in Rod’s heart, he touched the spine of the book, smiled, and said, "Thank you."
The Book of Knowledge swayed its cover, "Stop the chatter, eat it quickly!"
"Alright, alright."
Rod picked up the Potions and drank them one by one.
He rarely used these Potions; outside his small cottage, they were almost piling up like a mountain.
A soothing sensation spread through his soul, Rod felt a bit better, steadied himself, and asked,
"Book, I asked you once during the leap, why didn’t you answer me then?"
With furious text, the Book of Knowledge wrote, "At that time, I lacked spirituality and was recovering my soul, couldn’t understand what you said. Didn’t I tell you to ask again after a day?"
"Uh... I forgot, did you say that?"
The Book of Knowledge furiously flipped its pages, "Why must I have such a stupid master?"
"Shut up! How would I know there would be such a danger? And why was your spirituality insufficient?"
With large, bold fonts, the Book of Knowledge wrote on the page:
"I am a High Rank Soul Device, I possess my own soul, the desolate Dream Fragments caused everything to evaporate, my soul had been parched for thousands of years, of course, I needed time to recover."
Rod hesitated for a moment and asked, "What shattered the Dream Realm?"
"Do not ask this question!"
"Why not?"
"One must not invoke His sacred name, a True God’s power is not to be underestimated, the Dream Realm is far from recovered, if it is shattered again, everything will be over."
Rod felt very uneasy, a chill spreading in his heart, and asked, "Who was the previous master of the Dream Realm? Was he very strong?"
"Do not ask about any history related to the Ancient Epoch, that is not a domain you can touch now! I cannot utter anything about him! I can only tell you that he is ten thousand times stronger than you! A hundred million times! A trillion times!"
Rod snorted, "Is he as handsome as me?"
The Book of Knowledge was dumbfounded and flipped through its pages, but could not produce a single word.
The book can answer useless nonsense, but it cannot deceive its master with false answers.
Rod coughed and continued, "Then can you tell me what exactly the Spirit Realm is? Why does me hopping back and forth trigger such a huge reaction?"
This time, the Book of Knowledge was more honest and wrote on its pages:
"The Spirit Realm is the final destination for all spirits and energy."
"At the beginning of creation, what formed first was the chaotic Spirit Realm."
"When the Primordial Law formed, it was immersed in the Spirit Realm, becoming the Sea of Source, and when chaotic energy passed through the Sea of Source, it formed the Main Material World."
"The Spirit Realm is infinitely large, and it is generally believed that the Main Material World is the center of the Spirit Realm."
"Therefore, using the Main Material World as the origin, the Spirit Realm is divided into the Lower Spirit Realm, Middle Spirit Realm, High Spirit Realm, and Outer Spirit Realm. The Main Material World is located at the center of the Lower Spirit Realm, and with every outward layer of the Spirit Realm, there are vast spatial rifts and planar barriers that are usually impossible to cross."
Rod frowned and asked, "But the skill description on my Spirit Boat says I can go anywhere."
The Book of Knowledge wrote indifferently, "Please note that it is only theoretically possible to go there. The space in the Spirit Realm is chaotic and discontinuous, and the biggest obstacle to moving within the Spirit Realm is position."
"With the Main Material World as the origin, its position is zero, and the farther the distance, the higher the position."
"The greater the position difference between two points of movement, the more Spiritual Energy you will expend."
Rod understood in a second.
The skill description of the Spirit Boat had omitted the most important prerequisite – "If you had infinite Spiritual Energy, then you could go anywhere."
After thinking for a moment, he asked again, "Then, what are the differences between these layers of the Spirit Realm?"
The Book of Knowledge answered, "The Lower and Middle Spirit Realms are close to the Material World, with mixed energy. The Outer Spirit Realm is extremely sparse, infinitely vast, nearly void, and is where the sun, moon, and stars orbit."
"The High Spirit Realm is the primary gathering place for spirits and energy. This place is silent with countless ancient and terrifying beings who have long been corrupted, lost their sanity, and are left with only instincts and deep hatred for the Dream Realm."
"The greater the disturbance in the Dream Realm, the more ancient beings may be alarmed."
Rod furrowed his brow and asked, "Then why is hopping considered an invasion?"
The Book of Knowledge calmed down, and black text appeared stroke by stroke on the pure white pages.
"The entire Spirit Realm has been contaminated."
"Except for us."
Rod’s heart jolted, "Us?"
"The Dream Bubble is the only outlier that has not been contaminated."
Rod was hearing about this for the first time, but the Spirit Realm did not seem to be engulfed in a Black Fog?
As if knowing what he was thinking, the Book of Knowledge continued to write.
"The contamination of the Spirit Realm cannot be seen from the outside; it exists at the very foundation of energy."
"Different areas of the Spirit Realm are contaminated to varying degrees, and the High Spirit Realm is the most severely contaminated. Any intrusion by the Dream Bubble into any region will be seen as an invasion, with its purifying capabilities considered an attack."
"Contaminated regions will react in a twisted manner, awakening unknown entities slumbering within them."
"The more frequent the intrusions, the longer the duration, the more unknown entities are awakened, and the deeper and stronger they become."
"Likewise, as the contamination worsens, the world falls faster into darkness, and the invaders we encounter become stronger."
"This is the root of the invasion."
The last word vanished from the page, and Rod was silent for a long time.
He suddenly realized that if he could not completely reverse this trend, the good life he pursued would never come.
And as time went on, the Dream Bubble would become an enemy of the world.
No matter where he fled, it would be useless.
"Sigh."
Rod sighed dejectedly.
"It seems I have no choice but to reluctantly take on the role of the human savior since I’ve already collected all of humanity’s handsomeness. After all, I can only do things within my capacity in return..."
The paper in the Book of Knowledge puckered up.
If it were human, it probably would have collapsed to the ground and vomited by now.
Rod’s heart was actually also in turmoil. He wasn’t sure he could bear such a heavy burden, so he deliberately spoke in such a way to relieve the fear in his heart.
It was his usual tactic, and it worked quite well.
Just as Rod was about to say something more, the colors of the Dream Realm changed suddenly. The Obelisk emitted a very bright red light, staining the entire Dream Realm with a red hue.
Rod instantly leaped up and dashed over.
On the foreboding face of the Obelisk flickered an unprecedentedly ultra-bright red light, with even more vividly red text still clearly visible against such a red background.
