The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 246 - 177: The Strongest Spell
Chapter 246: Chapter 177: The Strongest Spell
The battle on the Corpse Wasteland ended in a very short amount of time.
Theodore fully demonstrated just how unreasonable a Spell Master could be.
His opening move was a "Silence Restriction Order," which sealed away the Evil Spirit’s most troublesome Desecration Light.
He then used the "Flying Restriction Decree" and "Spiritualization Restriction Decree."
After losing the ability to fly and spiritualize, the Evil Spirit was hit with a "Gravity Skill."
The intense gravity made it nearly impossible to move, turning it into a sitting duck.
Theodore followed up with a "Quater Erosion," stripping away the Evil Spirit’s outer defenses.
After that, it was a one-sided beatdown.
Theodore strolled across the wasteland as if he was taking a leisurely walk, constantly waving his Magic Wand, unleashing countless Spiritual Light Arrow Rains.
The Arrow Rain occasionally forked, eliminating lower monsters that approached him.
The High Rank Evil Spirit struggled through the Arrow Rain, its Spiritual Energy evaporating rapidly like dry ice under the blazing sun.
Soon, a huge vulnerability appeared in its soul.
At that moment, Rod shouted, "Let me do it!" and charged in recklessly.
The Evil Spirit swung its massive claw, but Rod was beyond caring now, even if it meant death, he was determined to seize the monster’s soul.
Theodore tilted his Magic Wand, using "Command Shock."
The High Rank Evil Spirit’s movements froze instantly.
With his right hand, Rod plunged directly into the vulnerability, with countless soul threads winding around his hand. A massive viscosity hit him, as he concentrated all his Spiritual Energy and pulled hard.
The High Rank Evil Spirit’s Spiritual Body shuddered violently before collapsing powerlessly, like a long skirt falling from the sky.
The pure white Spiritual Body began to disperse, like dandelions blown away by a strong wind.
A large white line entered Rod’s body.
[Soul of the Twilight Calamity]
Soul Without Spirit +1202
Great, Rod wore a delighted smile.
In his mind, he saw it, a special soul with a "Source" of its own.
Just two more, and he would be able to ignite the target Star.
Among the dispersing Spiritual Bodies, Theodore approached, his gaze appraising and smiling.
"Your soul attacks are strong," he commended.
"But close combat is dangerous."
Quick to respond, Rod said, "Your Excellency, Dean, your Spiritual Energy is precious and difficult to recover. Let me handle such tough and exhausting tasks. As long as I can force the soul to show a vulnerability, I can kill it with one strike."
Theodore’s azure eyes looked at him, gentle, yet Rod always felt as if a sharp light had seen right through him.
"Okay," he nodded slightly, not questioning further, and turned to walk into the ashes, picking up a clump of congealed Monster Ash.
"Hmm... this looks good, it should make a fine broth."
"Broth?"
Rod nearly thought he was hallucinating. Monster Ash for "broth"?
Casually placing the ash into his pouch, Theodore said calmly, "Onto the next matter."
He pulled Rod’s hand, and the two of them took flight, speeding off towards the southwest.
Gales and Black Fog hit their faces, prompting Rod to ask, "Your Excellency, Dean, why aren’t we teleporting?"
Theodore replied gently, "Although I’ve neutralized Malicious Teleportation, the curse has not completely dissipated. I cannot use any Teleportation Magic anymore; otherwise, it would exacerbate the loss of control over my Spiritual Energy."
Rod asked in surprise, "Why would your Spiritual Energy go out of control? The corruption on you should be completely cleared!"
Smiling, Theodore said, "Yes, the Spiritual Medicine you provided was miraculous, but only the Corruption Curse has been purified. Madness and decay still persist. After the soul gets infected, losing control and turning dark is inevitable."
Anxiously, Rod said, "What should we do then?"
"Don’t worry," Theodore spoke gently.
"As long as we return to the Royal City, there will be a way."
Rod felt relieved and, recalling the battle, couldn’t help but exclaim, "Dean Theodore, you are incredibly strong, able to use so many spells, it’s like having hundreds of Characteristics."
Smiling, Theodore said, "That’s why Spell Talent is listed as one of the seven Soul Traits."
Rod asked curiously, "Can I learn those spells?"
"No, the name Spell Talent implies the talent and essence of spells. Only those with this Soul Trait can use the power known as spells," Theodore said with the same calm and gentle voice, without a ripple of emotion.
"Spells are powerful and versatile, often assuming a central role in a team. However, they are difficult to control, requiring high wisdom from their users, and enhancing the Trait is also quite challenging. The Royal City doesn’t favor such students; the training takes too long, and the success rate is not high. Their current trend favors simpler, more powerful, and easier-to-develop Characteristics."
So that’s how it is.
No wonder I’ve hardly met anyone with Spell Talent, and those few are all terribly weak.
"Your Excellency, Dean, where are we going now? Isn’t the Iron Armor Fortress to the south?" asked Rod.
Laughing, Theodore said, "There’s another threat."
He suddenly stopped, lifting his Magic Wand, and thrust it downward.
A pulse suddenly appeared beneath the tip of his staff, smashing into the ground.
Accompanied by a loud bang, a huge crater exploded on the wasteland, revealing a giant insect.
Rod looked closely; wasn’t this the giant bug he had encountered at Sword Pass?
It was actually hiding here?
The Dean’s strike directly blasted a hole upon its head, making the soul’s vulnerability plainly visible.
