Chapter 160: Haunted (1)

"My father always told me to never turn my back on my enemy. You could have at least tried to distract me before you ran. How could you just turn your back to me when I was holding a dagger? How have we not killed all of you yet?" Annalise sighed as she touched her forehead. "I had a terrible aim. I’ve been slacking off."

Annalise meant to strike Claude in the head with the dagger, but she missed and was barely able to get it stuck in his shoulder.

He continued to run, ignoring that he had been hit by it. It wasn’t long before he slowed down and dropped to his knees.

"The poison works better than I thought," Annalise said, impressed by how quickly it worked. All it needed was an opening of someone’s flesh and it worked like magic.

The people at the border had access to plants and animals that were used to create special poisons. A trick they frequently used was coating their arrows in these poisons to get rid of their enemies. She had watched a line of Castro guards slowly drop in the middle of a fight. This kingdom had their special weapons so her people had no choice but to use their poisons.

Annalise started to walk to Claude as he tried his best to fight off the poison. She stepped over Ethan who was barely alive with all the blood that was coming out of his neck. She stopped to watch him and then placed her shoe to press down on the wound. She held her foot there to make him choke and give up.

There was no use fighting when he was going to die anyway. If only he had thought with his head instead of his little sword, he might still be alive.

"I should cut off your penis and hang it up for it to be laughed at, but I would rather not almost cut my finger trying to hold onto your tiny pecker," Annalise smiled.

She pressed harder and heard a gurgling noise followed by silence.

"There we go," she said, kicking his head to see if he would move. "Now," Annalise said, turning her attention back to Claude.

Claude started to crawl away now that he could not run. His feet were able to move, but the top half of his body felt numb around the area where the dagger was stuck in his back.

He stopped every once in a while to try reaching behind to pull out the dagger, but between his hands feeling weak and the placement of the dagger, he would not get it out.

"Allow me," Annalise said, putting her right shoe on his back to stop him from moving so she could pull out the dagger. "All that time I spent throwing daggers at trees paid off. Everyone always said I should focus on a sword and bow, but I just love a dagger. You can stab and throw. I might even cut a few fruits with this. Once I clean it of the poison of course."

"I really like this poison. It is made with a bit of venom so I would get to travel to search for snakes. My father wouldn’t let me join in on picking up the snakes with venom, but just watching it was fun. There’s also this mushroom that is added. Make you see a bit of colours in your vision. I honestly think we found everything dangerous and threw it in a pot. I hate to see people struggling," Annalise said, taking her foot off Claude.

She stooped down beside him to watch him try crawling again.

Annalise trailed the dagger from the back of his neck down to his backside. She stopped just before she reached his ass. "I would love to gut you for the things you said about my people. A better way for you to go would have been to leave you alone with starving dogs and watch them tear you apart. Then I would get what remained of your blood to coat my dress and show off my kill."

"Your people are interrupting our peaceful lives. We were more than willing to offer our knowledge to your side and in return, you want to force your rules on us. You are hardly civilised. You’re a bunch of greedy bastards who want more than they need to have. And for that, I won’t show you any mercy," Annalise finished, stabbing him in the head with her dagger.

She could spend an entire day repeatedly stabbing him in the head with her dagger, but unfortunately, she had to get back to the manor.

Annalise let go of the dagger to wait for Claude to leave this world. She listened to his quiet cries asking someone to save him. "Have you forgotten that we came all the way out here so no one would hear any crying? That we could do as we like and not be interrupted? That is why I like being outside like this. Away from the big homes. I feel more at home here."

Annalise waited patiently for Claude to stop moving and when did, she rolled him over to stab him once more where his heart should be just to be safe.

She stood up, looking down at her bloody hands and dress she needed to wash off before the blood would dry. Annalise walked away from the scene of the dead men, after pulling the dagger out of Claude’s head, to search for water. She picked up her coat she would need to protect herself from the cold air and hide her wet dress when she was finished soaking.

Someone might find the two men she killed tomorrow or perhaps a week later since it did not look like many walked through the thick trees when there were already paths made out to travel on. A wild animal might also find the two men before anyone else and enjoy the feast.

Annalise walked further into the trees to search for water. After what felt like hours of walking, she reached a stream that had to be connected to where she had washed her hands the first time Rafael bought candy for her.

Rather than strip and wash her body first then the dress, Annalise decided to just go in with her dress on since the memory of Claude touching her made her body feel disgusting. She lowered herself down the edge where the grassy area stopped and there was water down below which flowed by big rocks.

She dipped her right foot in the water first to get used to the coldness and then the other. The blood at the bottom of her dress from when she had squashed Ethan’s neck started to wash away. She placed her dagger below the water as she moved to start washing off the blood.

Annalise moved to a deeper spot that would allow her to sit and let the water beat against her skin to get rid of the memories of Claude’s touch.

"This is going to haunt me forever," she muttered.

Annalise sat down and looked up at the night sky to help calm her mind. When it wouldn’t work she held her breath, closed her eyes, and laid back under water since it normally worked.

’Men are so stupid,’ she thought.

A flash of Rafael appearing in her mind as she thought about men, made her accidentally open her eyes, and her mouth as she screamed.

Annalise sat up, coughing as she almost drowned because of her opened mouth. "What the hell is wrong with me?" She questioned, pushing her hair out of her face as she stared at a rock, hoping it would start talking and give her answers.
