The Knight's Mysterious Maid -
Chapter 147: Plans (2)
Chapter 147: Plans (2)
"I want that wedding in three weeks as I planned so I can get out of this lousy town. I will have any fool who gets in my way killed. Who is holding a party Rafael has received an invitation to?" Travis asked.
"He has received invitations to almost all of the parties, but it is a matter of if he will attend. He doesn’t like to attend parties. It is only your sister who might show up to a few of them,’ Solomon answered.
"She has failed to teach that boy how to socialise. There will be much for me to teach my nephew. My sister has forgotten all that my parents paid to have her be a lady ever since she mixed with that man. I have always thought that you become what you stick around and she has lost her class. Find out what party he will be attending. I will meet him there since all of a sudden his gates are closed off to everyone," Travis said, staring at the ruined portrait of his sister.
She could have had so much more if she had just listened. Now she had to deal with his anger because of her past decisions when she was young and foolish.
Travis disliked how his father and mother were starting to speak of wanting to welcome her back with her husband. It was only Rafael that he was willing to take and accept as a Norman. His sister had hell to pay for embarrassing the family name. For embarrassing him and having him miss out on a good deal.
For what Beatrice put the family through, it was only fair that she backed down and gave up her son to him. It was also only fair that she was not given the money owed to and it would go into his hands to make up for some of what he lost.
"Prepare a room for her in a madhouse. As soon as I am finished having my fun, I want her inside of there, locked away and the key to her room given to me. Find me another portrait of my sister. This one has lost its touch. Or maybe, I should have her standing there," Travis smiled, imagining her shaking before him as the knives were thrown.
Beatrice had herself to blame for how cruel he became toward her. As his sister, she saw his good side especially because he always planned to use her marriage for his benefit, but she was the one to crumble all of that. She was the one to ruin the good sibling relationship they had by loving an orphan. It was her fault that he had to play a few tricks to get her back in line.
It was also her fault that seeing her panic and gasping for air made him want to torture her so much more. There was nothing more exciting than having your sister on the verge of passing out and their parents knew nothing about it.
Travis missed having her so terrified of him and then when she tried to speak up to their father, he would always be there to scare her again. It was the best way to keep her from acting out, but it seemed he had gone easy on her since she ran away in the middle of the night. This time, he would have her fixed.
Mack didn’t think it was a good idea to mess with Beatrice when Travis wanted Rafael to listen to him. "Wouldn’t it be best to pretend like you want to make up with your sister? Perhaps apologise for the things you did? I heard-"
"Why would I do that?" Travis questioned, looking at Mack he planned to kill next and replace with someone who knew when to speak and when to shut up. "Why would I pretend to play pretend when I don’t have to? I will get Rafael to follow me without having to use my sister. I am a man with many tricks. In fact, don’t kill the woman he is seeing. Bring her to me. Everyone has a weakness to be toyed with."
"Yes sir," Solomon replied. "I will send in someone as a maid to lure the woman out. Is there anything else you need from us?"
"Hire a few more men we can dispose of to toy with my sister and her husband. Make sure they can put up a good fight. It’s embarrassing to hear that they died so quickly and one of them lost their head to that bastard. Who the fuck does he think he is to be beheading someone? Does he think he’s a king or still at war? I don’t want to be filling his ego with the fact he can kill whoever I sent easily," Travis said.
"Wouldn’t it be better to fill his head with him thinking he can kill everyone you send to him? The look on his face when he finally loses will be-" Mack paused to avoid the knife Travis threw in his direction. "I apologise."
"I am the one who makes all the plays here. You listen to me. What part do you not understand?" Travis questioned, putting down the knives Mack brought to him since it was time for him to go meet the young woman who would make everything from the past be fixed. "Follow me, Solomon. You should clean up that portrait by the time I get back," he said, looking at Mack who kept his head down.
Travis fixed the sleeves of his shirt as he walked out of the room with Solomon behind him. "Have him nailed to the wall until I get another portrait of Beatrice put up."
"Yes-" Solomon froze as he thought over Travis’s words.
Travis looked over his shoulder at Solomon. "It is him or you. Which will be? By the time I return, there will be someone pinned to that wall to be my new target. I don’t play favourites to save anyone. So, decide which one of you will be there on my wall when I return. I like to think you enjoy life because I intend to use my arrows instead of knives on who stands before me. It is exciting," he smiled.
Solomon was aware of just how cruel Travis was. It was obvious in the way he looked to torment his own sister. He had been hired to work for Travis almost the same amount of time as Mack so they were like friends. To have him pinned to a wall to amuse Travis who would kill him, was a hard position to be in.
However, it was better for Mack than for him to be the one to die.
"I will have him ready for when you return," Solomon answered. The longer he took to answer, the higher the chance for it to be him also joining Mack. This opened his eyes to how much better he needed to be when around Travis.
He had to follow Travis’s rules since it was impossible to run away from the young lord. The only person he could run to go against Travis was Rafael, but he would not take that chance.
"That was what I thought. Next time, do not make me have to explain why you should do as you are told or I will have you killed."
