Chapter 130: His type of woman (4)
Rafael waited to see Giselle leave his gates first before he would go inside to find Mavis and Annalise.
Christian came by his side to stand and watch her leave. "So, who will you pick to introduce her to? I think I would make a good-"
"You told me that you weren’t ready for marriage. I have not forgotten," Rafael replied.
"That was when you wanted to make me take Delilah off your hands, but I can reconsider my thoughts about marriage for Giselle. She is not that bad compared to the others. A bit insecure about her looks, but I don’t mind that," Christian said, placing his hands in his pants pockets.
"I suggest you only think with your brain before something else gets you in trouble. It will not be you that I introduce her to. Since you seem so energetic, you should go back to training one of the groups," Rafael said as he turned around to find Mavis and Annalise now that Giselle was gone.
"I need to rest a bit from the long trip to your parent’s home. You could have let your mother feed us like she wanted. You were a bit kinder to Giselle than I thought you would be. After what happened with Delilah, I thought you would be kicking out Giselle without listening to her. She did touch your beloved. I’m joking," Christian said, holding up his hands to show he did not want a fight.
"Shut the fuck up before I throw you out," Rafael warned.
Christian smiled, amused by how defensive Rafael had become. "If you stop thinking with your brain and with something else, you might get to enjoy yourself. Finally be with a woman again- Shit," he cursed, dodging the kick from Rafael. "It doesn’t help to be in denial for so long. Don’t worry about Logan and just go for it. We hurt his feelings all the time."
Rafael reached out to grab Christian’s shirt.
"W-Wait! Hold on!" Christian yelled as he fought against Rafael trying to pick him up. He soon found himself falling down onto the hard floor. "I didn’t deserve that when I am trying to be a good friend."
Rafael left Christian where he laid on the floor to continue his search for Mavis and Annalise. He found them in the dining room with Mavis drinking a glass of water while Annalise stood beside her looking bored.
"Mavis," he called to get her attention.
Mavis almost choked on the water upon hearing Rafael’s voice. "Young- Rafael! Is there something you need?" She asked, rushing to his side.
"No, I came to apologise for Giselle’s behaviour. She should behave the next time she comes to see her brother," Rafael replied. If she didn’t, she could forget about his help and getting through his gates to see her brother.
"There is no need for you to apologise as she did not upset me. I was teaching Annalise a few tricks to be a better maid, but now that you have returned, I shall leave her to serve you," Mavis said, motioning behind her back for Annalise to come.
"If it is needed training then..." Rafael slowed down after he noticed the look Annalise gave him. "It can wait until tomorrow. Are you aware that there are clothes blowing around in the front yard, Mavis? Your maids are trying to catch them, but the wind is making it hard."
"What? Those girls," Mavis muttered, excusing herself to see what mess was created in the yard. She was busy for a couple of minutes and already they were creating a mess.
"What will I get this time?" Rafael asked after Mavis left.
Annalise didn’t see what he was to get from her. "For what?"
"Saving you from Mavis. You gave me a look like you needed to be rescued. How did the two of you end up together?" Rafael asked as he had left her to not have to do any work.
"I am still confused as to how I ended up by her side, but it was not a bad time. She has taught me well. I should have touched her forehead to see if she was not well. I hope you are not facing another problem with Giselle. Her touch did not hurt me-"
"I told to her to stop since I hated the sight of her grabbing you. I should be owed something for helping you to get away from Giselle. You have been owing me a lot these days. When do you intend to pay me back?" Rafael asked, looking forward to what he would get in return.
Annalise thought about the instances where she owed him something. "I remember somewhat agreeing to owing you something if Delilah’s father ruined your morning and there was something else that I cannot recall now, but everything else was of your doing since you are kind," Annalise smiled.
"Ha," Rafael scoffed and then licked his lip.
"Are you not kind?" Annalise asked since he was acting like he wasn’t.
"When I am in the mood I am, but that kindness I have given to everyone is slowly slipping away. I’m afraid I might have to fall back into my cruel ways since this town has started to annoy me. Giselle has received that last of it," Rafae answered.
"And what about me? Am I to expect you being cruel now? I am your maid and I am to always be near you so I have to worry more than others. I must be on my toes around you now," Annalise jokingly said.
"You do not need to be worried. It is those who are not my parents, my knights, or servants in this manor who will not receive any more kindness from me. Giselle and anyone else who visits is not one of those three. You did well in not reacting to her grabbing you. I hope you have not started plotting to leave something to scare for her," Rafael said as he could bet one of his swords that she would.
"No, since I do not want to be fired. Giselle is easier to deal with than Delilah so I do not mind her antics. She has left without causing me to want to pull out my hair. Aside from her manners, there is something about her that amused me. Am I allowed to say that about your guests?" Annalise asked, panicking as she might have crossed the line.
"You have already said it. There are many things that I do not want to hear the servants speak of when it comes to guests, but what you said was harmless. Will you be joining the other servants tonight? You missed the last festival they all attended. You will have to wait a few days if you miss this one. You seem to be a boring person who does not have fun," Rafael said, provoking her so she would go.
"Says the man who stays home to pretend to get drunk. I’m sorry," Annalise bit her lip.
"Do not do that. You will turn it red and leave bite marks," Rafael remarked, looking at the small mark after she stopped torturing her lip.
Annalise licked her bottom lip to soothe the pain from how hard she accidentally bit her lip. "Is something wrong? Did I bruise it that badly?" She questioned, touching her lip because of his stare. She did not taste blood so she figured it was not that bad.
Rafael did not respond to her. Instead, he thought about his conversation with Giselle and what type of woman he wanted. There was not much he could deny any further that there was something about Annalise that he liked. Still, he hoped not to cross the line he had drawn between himself and his servants.
