Chapter 129: His type of woman (3)

"I came here because I had something I wanted to give my brother and I thought it would be nice to speak with you. I didn’t mean to upset you and I apologised to the maid for the way-"

"Because I asked you to let her go," Rafael interjected.

Giselle wouldn’t have realised how she was holding Annalise if not for him asking for her to be let go.

"You are aware that Mavis is the head maid and when I am not present, I expect that guest, which you are not at the moment, can respect her enough to listen to what she says. This is not your home for you to walk in and do as you please. I have been kind in telling you that your efforts for me to return your feelings will go to waste. You are not the type of woman I wish to court," said Rafael.

Giselle looked down at the dress she wore. She picked it out specifically to catch his attention. "What about me do you not like? I can adjust it. Am I not pretty?" She mustered the courage to ask.

She had changed everything about her so no one could say she was a simple girl who blended into the background. It was her time to be noticed and she would do whatever was necessary to stand out.

"You are a very pretty young woman, Giselle. If anyone were to tell you otherwise, it would be due to jealousy or not wanting to fill your head. I have never denied that you are a pretty woman, but it is not all that matters when I consider the woman I want to be with in the future. Do not waste your time coming to my home again," Rafael said, not wanting her to miss out on someone else because she was chasing him.

She was the same as Delilah, but aside from how she dressed, he could stomach her presence.

"You have not given me a good chance to show what I am like. We don’t speak enough for you to know whether or not I would make a good woman for you. Just give me one chance to have a proper conversation with you. Please," she begged.

"How are we to have a proper conversation when you come to my home dressed like you intend to find your way to my bed? I am not caught up in how young women are taught to dress, but I at least know that it is not how you come to my manor. There are knights here-"

"They won’t do anything to me. They never have because my brother is here. I am like a sister to them," Giselle argued.

"You are not like a sister to them. They look at you like any other woman who is not related to them. You coming here is uncomfortable for them because they wish to look, but they respect your brother. You dress to show off your body to get our attention. All I think about is the fact that you will be ruined when others start to talk about you coming here all alone without an escort. Giselle, you will never be the type of woman that I want," Rafael said once more, hoping this would be the time she listened.

"I can dress more modestly," Giselle said, touching his arm to calm him. "You never noticed me before I dressed like this so I thought..." she trailed off.

"Your brother is a knight here and you’ve visited him many times. How could I not notice you? You were just never a woman I was curious about to approach you in the past. The only reason we speak now is because you force your way into my home and I dislike it. End this now when I am being kind to you. Now is not the time for me to be dealing with this," Rafael said, clenching his fists as his anger from his uncle mixed with seeing her grab Annalise.

Giselle let go of Rafael. She thought her approach would have worked since he always allowed her to stay and speak with him. He was a man and she was an attractive woman so once she showed a little skin, shouldn’t he want her? She had watched how easily women from the red light district could pull men off the street just by wearing less clothing.

Giselle tugged on her dress to pull it up over the swell of her breast that she left exposed to seduce him. "I do not understand. I have heard that you have gladly taken women who were willing to your bed in the past. Why have you stopped now?"

"That, I don’t need to explain to you or anyone else. It is time for you to leave Giselle. If you wish to visit your brother, I will not stop you, but you can no longer dress like this and you must not seek me out without an escort by your side. You do not need to dress as you did to catch a man’s attention," Rafael said as she had a good personality when she wasn’t trying to seduce him.

Giselle touched her temple and bit her lip as she turned to look out the front door. "I put everything into getting you. They already talked about me. I thought this would work and shut them up when I got you. They will speak more if I change. I will go back to not standing out like everyone else. It is not fun to be forgotten. I was not noticed like the other ladies until I became like this. What am I supposed to do now?"

Rafael didn’t see how this was his problem since she should have never resorted to dressing like this in the first place because she knew people would talk. He didn’t need to worry about his reputation, but as a woman, she did. It was how this messed up world worked.

Still, he felt bad for her since he had witnessed her standing in the back, unable to mix with the other women because they deemed her not beautiful in their eyes and her family did not have the wealth to match their own. He had been there before with not fitting in when his parents didn’t have much to their name.

"There are plenty of men here. I know some of them who would make a good husband for you. You can meet with them and see where it goes from there. Just leave me and my servants alone," Rafael said as he could no longer take running from her.

"Thank you!" Giselle smiled, taking a step forward to hug him.

Rafael used a finger to poke her head and push her further away from him. "No," he shook his head. He still did not want her so close to her for anything to be assumed about them. "Leave now before I ban you forever."

"I will, but can you not tell Delilah about you rejecting me? I don’t want to hear about it from her mouth. It’s already painful to deal with you finally rejecting me-"

"Finally?" Rafael said, amazed that she thought this was him finally rejecting her. "I rejected you long ago. You only hear it now. None of you listens when I am being kind and strangely when I kick you out on your ass."

Giselle smiled. "Because there is something about you when you get angry. It draws us back to you. Don’t find a woman you love before I get married Rafael because I’ll be really jealous of you being in love with someone that is not me. I hope you pick out a good man for me. One that is as alluring as you are," she whispered.

"Get out of my home, Giselle."
