The Knight's Mysterious Maid -
Chapter 114: Spoiled (3)
Chapter 114: Spoiled (3)
"I have never realised how funny you were," Rafael chuckled.
Henry had managed to distract him from the fact he wanted to throw Henry out on his ass right now.
"I wasn’t telling you a joke. I want you to bring the maid here. I want to see the woman who has caused my daughter to be so jealous of her. Believe me, I understood how tempting the young maids can be. My wife has now started to hire maids she thinks will not seduce me, but they are all lovely and so willing to warm your bed in exchange for a few gifts and promises of becoming an official mistress. There is one that I-"
"I fail to understand what your whorish ways have to do with me. You fucking your maids has nothing to do with me. I will not be bringing her to you when you speak of sleeping with maids behind your wife’s back. Not that she would ever think to be with you," Rafael said, referring to Annalise.
He was still figuring her out, but he had a feeling she would turn down Henry’s advances. There would have to be something wrong with her to turn down Logan, but show interest in a man like Henry.
Becoming a secret woman of Henry was not as good as many women imagined. He was notorious among the men for the tales he spoke of the women he had slept with. Speaking of being with a maid and then going to be with his wife right after. He was never silent about who he had slept with and liked to boast about it to any man willing to listen.
Rafael knew Rachel was aware of Henry’s ways since he had heard from another man in town that Henry laughed as he told how Rachel had caught him. Rafael never spoke about it to either one since it wasn’t his marriage and he did not care enough to get involved.
Henry would continue to sleep around and Rachel would turn a blind eye to it since she would not leave a husband who provided her with wealth and a large home. Rafael’s opinion or advice would just fall on deaf ears so he kept it to himself.
He just hoped that with his father being friends with Henry, he would not be so foolish to have Henry’s ways rub off on him. Cheating on his mother was asking for death. It didn’t matter how much he loved his father, the thought of his mother crying would be enough to change his relationship with his father. The same could be said if his mother were to have eyes for another man.
Henry wasn’t a fan of how Rafael was playing innocent now. He saw how the maids Rafael had in his manor looked. He would never believe that Rafael had not slept with one of them or thought about it. This act of being a gentleman had always pissed him off.
River was no different since he would have the women swooning over how he took care of Beatrice. Wives would complain that they were not treated as well as Beatrice was as if they had not been talking about Beatrice marrying an orphan and being thrown out of her family.
"Come on, Rafael. It is just us men here. I curse you when my wife is around, but I could understand you when it is just the two of us like this. I should have been more like you when I was younger. Delaying having a wife so I could explore the town a little bit. I would kill the man who looks to cheat on my daughter, but you are still a bachelor and I will not judge your wandering eyes," said Henry.
Rafael now realised just exactly where Delilah got her behaviour from. Her father was just as foolish and delusional to create this story in his head. "Get out of my manor," Rafael said, finished with this conversation.
Annalise should have listened to him because now she owed him whatever he wanted in exchange for having to listen to Henry.
Henry thought Rafael was joking since he had called him out on having an interest in a maid. Rafael could not fool him. "This could all be solved if you would get rid of this maid. I cannot have whoever this woman is going around on a high horse because she managed to rile up my daughter. Delilah will settle down once the maid is gone and I will get my wife to speak to your mother."
Henry still wanted to see the maid to get a good look at the woman who broke Rafael’s image of not sleeping around. She had to be something spectacular. Delilah describing her being a farm girl from out of town piqued his interest. Those were the exciting kinds. The ones who were not used to this town were easy to use while they were good.
"I could take her off your hands-"
The screeching noise of Rafael pushing his chair back so he had space to stand up interrupted Henry.
Henry bit his tongue to get over the horrible feeling the sound created. His body shuddered for a moment before going back to normal. "Where are you going? We are not finished with our conversation," Henry said, standing up to join Rafael.
"I am finished with it. I suggest you leave now before you come to experience the way I got rid of your daughter," Rafael said.
Henry was a bit of a chubby man, but to get the annoying fool out of his study, he could find it in himself to pick the man up and throw him out.
"Do you really want this to go on for more than it should, Rafael? You might be the commander of knights, but it would be a mistake to go against my family. You are protected, but what about the maid? It wouldn’t be hard for me to catch her alone and take her. W-Wait!" Henry exclaimed, trying to step back out of reach of Rafael, but he did not succeed. "Wait!"
Rafael grabbed Henry’s neck and tightened his hold. Even as Henry stumbled back down onto the couch because he had lost his footing when he tried to move, he kept his hold on Henry. "You are not to touch her. You are not to go near her or send anyone to harass her," Rafael said, his hands shaking with anger as he tightened his hold. He ignored Henry’s coughs full of pain.
Henry patted Rafael’s chest to try to get him to release him. He coughed repeatedly, trying to swallow the spit that formed in his mouth. He could not get a word out in between the coughs.
Aside from the pain in his neck, what scared him was the way Rafael looked at him right now. Like was crazy to attempt to take his life all because he spoke of a maid. Desperate, Henry tried kicking Rafael off of him.
What saved him was a knock at the door snapping Rafael out of what he was doing. Rafael let go of Henry who slid down the couch once he was free.
He looked down at his hands which still shook with anger. "If you wish to live, get out."
