THE Knight's Hidden Princess -
Chapter 90: Secret Rendezvous
Chapter 90: Secret Rendezvous
My hands trembled as I reached for my wardrobe and began yanking out clothing out of my wardrobe. I moved past array of beautiful dresses, frantically searching through tons of heavy ball gowns, dinner dress and sleep wears till eventually I found what I was looking for. I grabbed a pair of my tunic and a pair of tight fitting pants and holster along with corset.
I wasted no time in undressing and putting on my attire. I was just putting on my tunic when the door suddenly opened and Heather came inside, a worried look on my face.
"My lady you left in such a hurry, I was wondering..." Heather trailed off staring at my attire then stared around at the mess I had made in the room, her gaze then landed on the bed where she saw the weapons I had laid out.
Her gaze snapped back to mine, assessing my attire with confusion on her face. "What are you doing?"
"There’s no time to talk." I replied her, "I need you to fix my hair and tell the guards to ready a horse!" I said as I wore my corset around my waist.
Heather looked more confused than ever. "My lady I still don’t understand what is going on, where are you going?"
"To go and find Reagan!" I responded without lying since she wanted to know the truth.
"Sir Reagan?" Heather asked, "But isn’t he going to the border for a campaign_"
"It’s a trap." I informed her, "He was sent to the Kashkil..."
The blood drained from Heather’s face, "The Kashkil, but that’s...."
"I know." I informed her as I grabbed the daggers on the bed and began to put it in my holster, I also kept some inside the garter around my thighs. "Which is why you need to stop gawking and help me!"
Heather recovered from her shock, "So what? You think going is the best idea?"
"There’s a reason the Kashkil leave far away from us and to get to their place is no easy thing to do but if they sense even the slightest bit of danger, then they attack." I replied her, "If my calculations are correct, all I can do is pray and hope that Reagan hasn’t crossed the bother yet."
"Going to where Sir Reagan is, it is no small journey!"
"I don’t care, I need to stop him!"
"But my lady..."
"Heather for crying out loud!" I yelled at Heather startling her, "I’ve had enough of your doubts, you either help me or you stay out of my way!"
Heather looked surprised at my outburst. Her eyes widened for a minute before she finally lowered her head in submission, "As you wish your highness." She said and I heaved out a sigh, "But know this, you are not going alone."
"No you cannot."
"Do you want to get ready really quickly or will you argue with me? Because if we are going to do that, I can bring up one thousand ways on why this is a bad idea and why you shouldn’t go!"
A thousand ways seemed like an exaggeration but it was still one I didn’t have time for. Heather seemed to know that because she smiled at me, "Alright, fine." I huffed out.
Heather wasted no time in pulling me to the side and sitting me in a chair. She swiftly worked a comb to my hair, undoing the knots before she brushed it out and braided it into a single braid which she pinned on top of my head. When she was done, I stood up and rushed to go and grab my boots.
Heather quickly grabbed a sack and went out of the house and when she came back, she carried the sack which looked to be filled with food and couple of fruits. I nodded my head in gratitude before I grabbed a knapsack that contained other supplies that will be necessary for a three days journey. Turning towards the wardrobe, I grabbed my cloak and went out but as soon as I opened the door, I met Eddie standing right outside the door giving us a jump scare.
"Oh for fuck’s sake Eddie!" I cursed as I stared at the boy who took in our attire with a curious look in his gaze.
"Where are you going?"
Groaning, I left, leaving Heather to tell him whatever it was she wanted to tell him and instead I headed towards the stable instead. I grabbed a two black stead that would enable us to blend into the night and brought it out with me. Taking the carriage was going to draw nothing but attention towards us and that is the last thing that I need.
As soon as I got out, I met Heather and Eddie standing as if waiting for me. "And why are you still here?"
"I’m coming with!" Eddie announced.
I shot a look at Heather, "And you allowed this?"
"I tried my lady but believe me the boy wouldn’t take no for an answer!"
"Well then let me try." I said then turned to look at Eddie with a smile on my face, "No!"
Eddie’s smile dropped as he immediately stepped forward. "Well that’s not going to happen because I’m not taking no for an answer!"
I turned to look at Eddie with a look of disbelief on my face, did he just say no? "I’m sorry, did you mistake my answer for just a mere sentence because what I just did was give you an order one I expect you to fucking obey you dimwit!"
"Dahlia!" Heather suddenly gasped out and the realization of what I had just said dawned on me.
Turning to look at Eddie, I tried to apologize but he was already walking into the stable and getting a horse of his own. "Well it’s a damn good thing I don’t answer to you then, don’t you think?"
"Eddie, I.."
"My job is to protect you and I know you see me as an idiot, but I made an oath to sir Reagan and I intend to honor it." Eddie stated as he mount his horse, "Now will you lead the way my lady or do I have to inform the Lady Marina about your secret rendezvous?"
"No." I answered firmly as I grabbed my horse, "That won’t be necessary, you can come with us!"
