Chapter 59: A Loud Commotion
Chapter 59: A Loud Commotion
Bjorn made sure he stood by and comforted me till eventually I was no longer crying. He held me in his arms, not rushing me till eventually, I managed to calm myself down. I eased myself away from Bjorn, wiping at my eyes while sniffing. From my peripheral vision, I could see Bjorn smirking at me.
"Not a word Bjorn." I warned him, "Not a word."
Bjorn’s smirk grew wider as he raised his hands up in mock innocence. "I wasn’t going to say anything, I swear!" He said but his eyes were filled with mischief, something I was all too familiar with ever since we were kids.
Rolling my eyes at him, I brushed past him and started walking away. "You didn’t need to, I know you were thinking it."
Bjorn fell into steps behind me, "I mean it’s been a long time since I’ve seen you get emotional like this. I mean I didn’t even know you could curse like that, it’s the most emotion I’ve seen you display ever since we grew up." Bjorn said and I cast him a sideway glance but that didn’t stop him, instead he continued. "Even the servants called you a nesting doll, the kind father brings home from all his trips. They call you that because it doesn’t matter what happens, you always keep your composure. Gods, I wished they could have seen that."
"Don’t get too excited Bjorn." I answered him without stopping as I continued to walk, "Besides, you can blame it on the hormones."
"Now you are using your pregnancy?"
"It’s my pregnancy, I decide when and where I want to use it."
Bjorn rolled his eyes at me but didn’t say anything, instead he gave me a mock salute. "Of course, as you wish oh mighty nesting doll."
"I hate you." I said but even as I said it, there was a huge smile on my face.
"And I love you too." Bjorn retorted as he pulled me in for a quick hug.
I smiled as I leaned into it but quickly pulled away from him when I noticed we were getting closer into the place where the servants were starting to roam about more freely. I watched as Bjorn cleared his throat, straightening and taking on his role as the future heir of Iravia and a slight smile graced my lips at that.
Looking at him now, one would think that he was the perfect picture of responsibility, the strict heir who ruled and was ready to take over at any time. As I stared at him while walking behind him, I almost forgot the teasing and warmth he had shared with me moments ago, but I knew it was right there. This was a side he presented to the kingdom, that other side he had just shown was reserved for me and his family.
I was still smiling while being lost in my own thoughts when all of sudden we heard a huge commotion. I glanced up quickly, my senses at alert as the sound of shouting echoed the hallways. Some of the servants rushed over towards the sound of the commotion which made my frown deepen even further.
"What the hells?" Bjorn muttered under his breath as he headed towards the commotion.
Without any other thought I followed after him, only to make out few familiar servants that I knew didn’t belong to my father but that of Reagan’s house. With my heart thundering, I shuffled forward hoping to get a better glance and the sight in front of me truly shocked me down to the core.
Right in front of me was Reagan, but he wasn’t alone. Killian was with him too and the look on his face as he grabbed Reagan and continue to throw punches at him was one of pure anger. Worried, I glanced up at Bjorn for help.
Gritting his teeth, Bjorn turned his gaze to his servants. "Everyone get back to what it is you are doing!"
A single command from Bjorn made the servants sprint away even though their eyes continued to stare momentarily before leaving. My body stood unmoving as I worked to understand the situation in front of me.
Killian continued to throw punched as Reagan who was blocking it but it looked like he was putting in no effort at all, almost like he wanted Killian to hit him.
Deciding that I couldn’t watch this any further, I stepped forward. "Stop!" I yelled, "Stop it!" I yelled but no one seemed to hear me.
"THAT’S ENOUGH!" Bjorn roared out causing both men to halt.
Killian panted harshly, his fist still poised in the air. Reagan turned to look at me, breathing heavily and I released a shuddered gasp at the way his face was bruised. Growling, Killian shoved Reagan away angrily.
Bjorn stood, leveling both men with a hardened glare. "Want to tell me why two respectable young men are fighting in my residence?"
"Yeah Reagan," Killian threw at Reagan who just looked away, "Why don’t you go ahead and tell everyone?"
Reagan’s jaw ticked, a sign that he was angry but he didn’t say anything. Not even as I continued to stare at him.
There was an unspoken tension in the air. Killian’s hands stayed balled into tight fists as his energy kept radiating anger throughout his figure and Reagan held his peace intensely. Both men seemed about to reach their limit yet I was completely ignorant about what could possibly resolve their conflict.
Bjorn’s gaze turned to Reagan, "Sir Reagan, is there anything you would like to say?"
"It’s complicated." Came Reagan’s gruff response.
Snorting Reagan shook his head, "Complicated you say?" He said then turned to Reagan, "How could you do it? You made Celeste your official concubine and you have the guts to show your face here?" Killian’s voice was filled with anger but the only thing I could hear was the word concubine.
It can’t be true! That isn’t true, it can’t right? I asked myself as my gaze found Reagan who just gazed at me with a down cast expression on his face, an expression that confirmed everything Killian was saying was true.
