THE Knight's Hidden Princess
Chapter 160: Hope

Chapter 160: Hope

There was an armory that was hidden in the mountain and for a mountain that was supposed to be about retreat and harmony there sure were a lot of weapons. I walked towards a sword and I pulled it up, testing the weight in my hands, something about it just doesn’t feel right. I don’t know if it was the fact that I was starting to feel really weird right now, like my body was starting to slow itself down or something...

I stared down at my protruding belly. Please, please, please, not now! Just let us get through this and mommy will be right where you want her, okay? I patted my stomach and I moved on to the next weapon, this one was another sword that contained a lot of dust more than the others. It also seemed to have been placed different from the others.

I picked it up and blew on the dust on it, coughing a little as I picked up the hem of my dress and wiped the dust off it. I also noticed that the color was a bit different from the others. It was a bronze sword that had green carvings around the hilt.

"This was believed to be Naktus sword you know." One of the woman said coming to stand right next to me, "And I know you don’t believe in all of this whole Naktus doing a divine intervention but I just thought you should know it suits you!" She explained when I looked up at her with a frown.

She was right, I do not believe in the whole intervention thing. But this sword, I could still carry the weight and even though it had been stuck here for gods knows how long but it still looked sharp. Enough to cut through any draumheimiers scum!

"Alright!" I said with a smile on my face, "So how are we looking?" I asked looking at her the rest of the other women who were busy gathering weapon.

"So we’ve got about a hundred women who can handle a sword fine on their own and fifty who can fair in a normal fight." She informed me.

One fifty women who can hold on their own in a fight just wasn’t good enough. The draumheimiers were ruthless and kill without mercy but I suppose if we can count on one thing it’s the fact the draumheimiers weren’t smart enough.

I grabbed the sword and turned to face the women, "Alright, listen to me_" I started and the murmured died down as everyone turned around to look at me, "Okay so I know a whole lot of you are scared right now. I get it, I am scared to. But we have to do this ourselves and even though you everyone thinks it’s a stupid plan, it’s up to us to defend ourselves and protect those who can’t!"

Some of the women remained hidden in the cave along with Maryanne. They were all terrified which was something that I understand and I couldn’t fault them for. I honestly do not know how we were going to hold our own in a fight against the draumheimiers but I meant what I said.

"Look there’s one thing we have that the draumheimiers don’t."

"And what is that?"

"Our wits!" I responded, "The draumheimiers underestimate because they think we are bunch of women who are supposed to be praying under the mountain but I can tell you one thing they will never expect is us coming at them with everything we’ve got!" I said and I looked at the women to see a look of determination on their faces, "They think we are weak but we are going to show them how strong we are instead and we are going to take them down because women have been underestimated over the years. They’ve been seen as useless, as weak, as the lowest on the food chain but we are going to show them!" I said and the women yelled out in agreement.

"We are not to be messed with!"

"YEAH!"

"We are not helpless!"

"YEAH!"

"We are women and we are going to fight for ourselves and our future!"

"YEAH!"

"GO DAHLIA!"

"WE ARE WITH YOU!"

The women yelled out lifting their weapons in their air, their voices filled with more fervor than before and to hear their voice filled with pride just made me smile. There was also something that was in their tone that made this new feeling swell in my chest, it was hope and even though it was small and even though the odds of us making it out of here was not much.

There was one thing that was bigger than any weapon and that was...

Hope!

REAGAN POV

"No one is leaving!"

I turned to look at my mother who was standing in front of me and for the first time in all the years that I’ve spent with her, this was the only time that I’ve ever had a murderous thought towards her. If she doesn’t get out of my way soon, I swear to the gods I was going to end it.

"You need to get out of my sight!"

"Listen to me son..." My mother said as she drew in a deep breath, "I need you to think about this clearly, there is no way that you can make it there in time!"

"Do not tell me what or what I will not do!" I informed her, "Arianne is in trouble and if I don’t go now, I might lose her!"

My mother nodded her head at me, a solemn look on her face. "Look at me, I understand." I informed her, "I understand you greatly but even if you leave now, there’s no way that you can get to her on time and..."

"Move out of my way!" I shoved her aside and continued to advance towards the gate but Nikolai and Killian stepped in front of me, "What? I thought you two were with me!"

Killian and Nikolai shared a glance before Nikolai decided to step forward. "Look, Reagan I’m sorry!"

"Oh fuck off!" I shoved him aside and continued to walk ahead.

I should have known that he was going to do this and why the fuck was he talking about how sorry he was when Dahlia was still alive. Hearing him say that like he was already giving up Dahlia, he is lucky I do not go ahead and punch him in the face which was initially what I wanted to do.

Killian followed after me, stopping in front of me. I rested my hand on the hilt of my sword, if he tried to stop me again, I swear I wasn’t going to hold back the on hitting him on the face this time around. Him or anyone else who tried to stop me.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Killian said, "Listen to me, hear me out for a minute, like I am not trying to stop you and I sweat to the gods I wouldn’t! Hells the minute we stand talking here is killing me because Dahlia is in danger!"

I stared at him while considering his words. "Then why the hell are we still wasting time talking?"

"Because I need you to also see reason...." Killian said and he raised a hand to stop me when I tried to move, "Look the journey alone is five days and if anything I got out of Skornir said is real then the draumheimiers are already in mount callum. We set of now and all we will..."

"Don’t." I said and I raised my eyes up to look at him, "Don’t finish that!" I told him trying to ignore this feeling that was starting to crawl up my chest.

I can’t hear that right now because I am trying my best to keep it together and the last thing I need right now is to hear how I can’t get to Dahlia in time.

Killian nodded his head already knowing how hard it must be for me. "It’s okay Reagan, you know what let’s go!"

"Killian!" That was my mother but Killian shook his head and turned heading to the gate.

I smiled and I turned to look back to see Nikolai following after me, a somber expression on his face. The stable boy had already brought my mare out. She was fidgety and puffing, almost as if she could sense that we were heading out to the abyss.

I reached for her muzzle, trying to calm her down but the truth was I do not know exactly who I was trying to calm, her or me.

"You okay?" Nikolai asked as he reached for his own mare.

I turned to look at him, "I’ll be as long as I see her!"

Nikolai gave me a curt nod in response and mounted his stallion. Killian was already ahead, giving orders to the soldiers nearby. I mounted my horse and turned to look back at my mother who was now crying as she shook her head at me, silently pleading with me not to do this.

But I turned back around and I fisted the reins, my horse already calm.

She was ready and so I was I!

Time to get my girl!
