Chapter 134: Not A Threat

Reagan slammed Evie against the wall hard, keeping a hand on her throat. He raised his hard up prepared to strike her when I immediately stood up from the ground not willing to allow him to hurt her. I grabbed Reagan by his hand before he could use it to hurt my sister.

"Reagan stop!" I said looking at him, "That’s my sister, you can’t hurt her!"

I can see the confusion on Reagan’s face as I held his wrist back. "Your sister? Evie? That Evie?"

"Yeah, that Evie!" Evie spoke before she kneed Reagan in his stomach and then she threw another punch at my face before she twisted around and gave us a kick that would have sent me crashing to the ground if Reagan hadn’t caught me the last minute.

Breathing heavily, I used Reagan’s arms to steady myself, shaking my head to clear the ringing in my ears. Evie was still standing there, her body tense, her breathing sharp. She was fighting something within her but it looked like she was losing.

Reagan stood right next to me, his expression unreadable as he assessed my sister. "That’s Evie? Your sister?" He asked me as if he found it quite hard to believe. I nodded my head in confirmation before he turned to stare back at her again. "Well isn’t she charming?"

Evie advanced again and Reagan moved me to stand protectively right in front of me, but just as Evie was about to reach us Father called her, halting her in her footsteps.

"That’s enough Evie, we’ve had enough toxicity in the air for one day!"

Evie glared at us one last time, before she went to stand right next to my father. Her hand was folded behind her back as she stood in a wide stance beside my father who patted her on the head affectionately, a pleased smile on his face.

I made a move to go towards my father but Reagan held my wrist tightly stopping me from going to punch him in the face the second time. He ruined me when I was a child and now, he has set his grubby evil hands on Evie. He was going to destroy her too, I could see it in the self-satisfied smirk on his face, the smile of a man who’s already won.

"Dahlia, don’t." Reagan said his hand clamping tighter on my wrist when I made a move to go towards my father. I just wanted to grab him and slam my fist into his face repeatedly but something tells me that Evie would likely protect him.

"Not now?" Reagan said trying to caution me and I turned to look at him.

What does he mean not now? If not now, when? When he took everything from me? When he takes everything from Evie until he discovers that he doesn’t have any more to take, no use for her and he decides he no longer has any use for her?

"Seems you haven’t taught your wife anything yet, seeing as she lacks manners!" My father suddenly spoke and this time around I could feel the anger in Reagan, I noticed the way he stiffened.

Reagan bowed his head low, "That is my fault your majesty, I apologize for that." He said and I turned to gape at him in surprise.

"No," I said still in disbelief, "Don’t do that, don’t apologize to him! He should be the one apologizing, he ruined my life and now he is going to take everything from me. Well guess what, old man? I am no longer scared of you. I see no need to hide in the shadows because now, I know exactly what you are."

Father’s lips curled into a smirk. "Is that so?"

"Yes it is, a monster!" I spat at him.

My father sighed as he massaged his temple, as if I was a repentant child that needed to be disciplined. "Oh Dahlia, Dahlia, Dahlia, you are still emotional as ever!" He tuts, his tone dripping with disdain. "When are you ever going to learn that being emotional is what makes you weak."

"Weak?" I asked him my voice filled with disbelief, "Is that what you think this is? That my feeling makes me weak? Well on the contrary father, I believe my emotions are what makes me human, something you will never be!"

The smile on my father’s face vanished as he stared at me and I caught the flash if anger in his face and Reagan moved closer towards me, though the hold on my wrist finally released but he stood silently beside me, an unspoken vow that he trusts me and was willing to let me handle this on my own but if needed for him to step in he was going to do it without hesitation.

Evie however didn’t move, she stood still, waiting on my father’s orders. Though her gaze were on us, watching us silently like a predator waiting for any sudden moment so they would strike back.

My gaze snapped back to my father, "You think you’ve won but you don’t even know half the truth about it." I snarled as I took a step towards my father, "You think just because you control her for the main time, that you’ve one? Well here’s the thing father you haven’t and you never will, because you do not get to dictate how this happens!"

Though I was looking at my father but I suddenly caught sight of a slight movement. Evie’s finger’s jerked, only a little bit and that made me pause. Was she trying to fight it? Perhaps tell me something or maybe it was just my own hallucination?

My father scoffed in disbelief, "Well you take big game for a girl but the real question is what are you going to do about it?"

I smiled, but it was cold and I could feel it as I walked closer towards my father. I clenched my fists at y sides as I met his stare head on, I wasn’t the weak little girl he had broken. I no longer had to follow his rules anymore, I make my own rules.

"First, I am going to take back everything you stole from me." I said my gaze landing on Evie before they rested back on my father. "Then, I am going to kill you!"

"Dahlia_" Reagan called in a threatening manner.

My father barely flinched, instead he cocked his head to the side. "Is that a threat girl?"

I laughed loudly at him, "A threat is something unpredictable, it may happen or it may not. So no, old man, this isn’t a threat." I responded with a smile, "It’s a fucking promise!"

Reagan stiffened beside me but he said nothing an I know I should probably keep my anger in check instead of antagonizing my father, but at this point, I was already past caring.

My father heaved out a sigh, "You were always known for your theatrics but I will see if you can keep to your words, hell I might even make it easy for you but then of course you should know once we start this there is no going back.

"Of course, I know that and this time around you will learn soon enough, that I am not the same girl that I was once before." I said my voice low and firm as I leaned even closer, "And by the time you do, it will be the last thing that you will ever see!"

With that said, I gave Evie one last look and then I turned on my heel and walked out of the study. Reagan followed closely after me and when I got outside, I met Nikolai and lvana together. Immediately they saw us together, they straightened.

"What happened?" Ivana gasped as she took in my appearance.

"I thought I told you not to come out of the room." I retorted not bothering to wait.

Ivana fell into steps beside me. "I got bored and Nikolai assured me that it was safe to." She replied and I hummed in response, "Now want to tell me what happened to you? Did your father hit you?"

That made me pause in my foot steps and I turned to look at Ivana who was staring at me with a look of curiosity on her face. "And who are you?"

Ivana frowned at me in confusion, "I...I don’t understand..."

"Exactly." I snapped at her, "I don’t understand this relationship of ours either. I barely know you, you are not a friend and I honestly don’t consider us close enough for me to start telling you anything. The only reason you are here is because of what you want from me, so don’t pretend like you care about me now do me a favor and shut the fuck up instead of bothering me with questions!"

Ivana’s lips parted in surprise at my outburst and even Reagan and Nikolai stood still staring at me with a worried look on their faces. Rolling my eyes, I grabbed my gown and spun on my heel. "Let’s just get out of here!" I said then hurried down the stairs.
