THE Knight's Hidden Princess -
Chapter 131: Backbone
Chapter 131: Backbone
Nikolai barely used up to two minutes in getting rid of the guards at the door. He quickly disarmed them and knocked them unconscious instantly. I made my way inside the castle but the moment I stepped inside we met sox more guards standing right in the grand hallway, protecting the staircase that leads to my father’s study. To be honest it doesn’t quiet surprise me, he knew I was coming. He had to after the stunt he had pulled in the manor, he had expected me to show up.
But I bet one thing he didn’t think would happen when I show up, It’s to be so angry!
"We have orders to detain the princess, grab her!" One of the guards yelled.
Nikolai stepped forward in front of me, "You go find your father and keep Lady Ivana safe in a room somewhere." He ordered.
I nodded my head at him in response. Grabbing Ivana by her head, I turned to take the other stairs just as a guard approached us but Nikolai got to him first the next thing I heard was a thud on the ground but I didn’t bother to look back to find out what was happening. I led Ivana across the hallways and found an empty room. It was the drawing room so Ivana could be safe here.
"Stay here, don’t go anywhere. Take a look at the paintings, walk around, do whatever except come out of this room." I instructed her.
Ivana nodded her head at me, with a look of understanding on her face. "Got it, so I’m just supposed to pretend that things are completely fine while ignoring the fact that your father is trying to kill you?"
"Not the trip you had in mind, eh?" I asked with a smile on my face.
"Clearly!"
I smirked at her in response before I turned and left the room leaving her alone to her own thoughts. Taking in a deep breath I headed towards my father’s study already knowing for a fact that was where he was hiding. His own perfect little burrow.
On getting to my father’s study, I met four more guards standing at the entrance. I couldn’t help but laugh out in disbelief all this extra security. It was almost like he was expecting me to bring reinforcements, but too bad I didn’t need them. I was angry enough to take on them.
"We have orders to....
"Detain the princess blah, blah, blah..." I said with an eye roll and the other guys arched a brow up at me. "But I’ll tell you one thing fellas, you need to get away from that door and let me see my father and I promise you no one will get hurt!"
"And why do you propose you will hurt us? You are just a girl?" One of the guards said and I was about to advance towards him and show him exactly what a ’girl’ can do but then again before I could I heard a loud voice.
"Didn’t your mother ever teach you not to disrespect a lady?"
A deep melodic voice with powerful authority came from just behind me. I turned my head onto to see Nicolai standing at the entrance of the hallway. He stood at the doorway, arms crossed over his chest, completely unfazed by the situation. His eyes moved back and forth with the guards who now look less confident than they were three minutes ago.
"Nikolai!" One of the guards breathed out.
I smirked at him as I moved out of the way, "Took you long enough!"
Nikolai shrugged as he walked towards me. "Sorry but I was busy taking my sweet time." Then to the guards he said, "But I didn’t know they were busy embarrassing themselves."
The older of the guards stepped forward. "We have our orders from the king himself."
"And I have my orders from me!" Nikolai drawled out before he removed he advanced forward, "Alright now, who wants to go first!"
One of the guards roared as he dashed forward towards Nikolai who just side stepped and tripped him to the ground without having to use anything. The second guard hesitated, for only just as minute as if weighing what chances he had with Nikolai but apparently it wasn’t anything much because Nikolai grabbed his wrist in a single effortless motion then twisted it on the side.
The guard released a yelp before Nikolai punch him in his throat stealing his voice before he shoved him backwards. Nikolai stepped forward reaching down to ruffle the hair of the guard who was still try to speak.
"Really? You should have known better than to attempt that weak ass move on me." He snorted as he shoved him to the ground.
Rolling my eyes, I turned to look at him. "You are enjoying this aren’t you?"
"I’ve always wanted to fuck one of the royal guards over." Nikolai admitted with a smile on his face as he turned to look at the guards. "They’ve always thought they were better than others. It’s time I show them who exactly they were messing with."
He wasn’t kidding the royal guards always seemed to think that that they were better than the guards who were always at the war front. The royal guards always looked down on the other guards with arrogance and mockery toward those who served the kingdom through combat. The royal guards wore impeccable uniforms and well shined boots and their hands were always clean, no sign of a real battle.
I smirked as I stared at Nikolai. "Well congratulations, seemed you found your chance."
Nikolai shot me a grin. "Yeah, why don’t you head in? I’m still going to be having too much fun."
I nodded my head at him in response before I walked towards the door just as the rest of the other guards advanced. I met my father facing the window with his arms behind his back, his posture rigid as he stared outside but from the way he straightened, I knew he was already aware of my presence.
"Hello Father!" I greeted.
My father turned to look at me at that moment. "Look who finally grew some backbone."
