THE Knight's Hidden Princess
Chapter 126: The Trial

Chapter 126: The Trial

Great, what now? I thought to myself as I stared at Lady Ivana who watched everything with a smirk on her face and I didn’t know whether or not to be scared or not.

"I think we’ve had enough from the witnesses, what we await now is your judgment." Marina spoke up as she looked at Ivana who didn’t appear to be scared of her and remained adamant on what she has to say.

Shooting me a look, Ivana stepped forward, stopping only till she was a few feet away from Reagan. "I feel like you will like to hear what it is I have to say."

Marina turned to look at Ivana with a warning look on her face. "Lady Ivana...."

"You may proceed!" Reagan gave the order, his voice calm and direct.

Marina looked like she wanted to say more and I’m pretty sure what she wanted to say was probably object but she swallowed it down, her lips tightening in irritation as she glared at Ivana who stood her ground not caring that the other ladies were now starting to look a little bit uncomfortable but now I was starting to get curious about the whole thing. I wanted to hear whatever it was Ivana had to say about me so I leaned forward in my seat.

Ivana bowed at Reagan before she moved closer. "I was also present at the parties Lady Dahlia was oh so kind to throw and invite us into her lovely home. I mean the party was fun, really lovely and the princess is such a wonderful person and we spoke for quite a bit so I was able to find out just how smart she was and we did talk for quite a while I tell you..."

"Will you get to the point, Lady Ivana?" Reagan stated with a bored look on his face.

Yes Ivana, get to the point already will you? I thought to myself as I stared at Lady Ivana.

Lady Ivana released a nervous chuckle as she bowed her head. "Yeah, of course, my apologies of my lord." She apologized before she continued, "But if there is one thing I must say it’s that the tale that is being painted here is nothing but creative, just like all those tales lady Celeste was saying at the party, honestly Lady Celeste are you sure you weren’t an author in your past life? Must have been pretty famous and a damn best seller if you sold books with tales like that."

"Lady Ivana?" Celeste sobbed as she dabbed her eyes with a handkerchief.

Marina marched forward with a look of anger and disbelief on her face. "Lady Ivana, if you know you have nothing of sense to say, then I suggest you get out!" Marina said before she snapped her fingers causing two guards to step forward.

Ivana turned to look at the guards her eyes widening for a moment before she turned to look back at Reagan. "I have proof Lady Dahlia didn’t attack Celeste!" Ivana suddenly blurted out.

I straightened in my seat, my eyes widening as I stared with Ivana. Even Reagan also seemed to become more interested because he leaned forward in his seat, suddenly interested in what Ivana had to say.

"You have proof?" Reagan asked.

Marina scoffed in disbelief. "Surely you are not considering listening to her."

"Mother you will allow her to speak or the next time you interrupt me I will ask the guards to escort you to your chambers since clearly you are unable to keep your emotions in check!"

Marina’s gaze flashed in anger and for a moment I fear she was about to lash out but all she did was huff out a breath before she went to stand quietly in a corner, still bristling with anger. Satisfied his mother wasn’t going to interfere anymore, Reagan turned his cool gaze to look at Ivana who looked more confident than ever.

"You say you have a witness?" Reagan questioned, "Is the witness present in this room with us."

"As a matter of fact, she is." Ivana stated with a smirk, "I am the witness!" She announced and a loud murmur went round the room, even I couldn’t help but arch a brow up at that.

She? A witness? Now why on earth do I find that hard to believe? I thought as I stared at Ivana willing her to meet my gaze but she didn’t even though I knew she could feel my eyes on mine.

Ivana stepped forward, enjoying the attention as she spoke, her voice unwavering and steady. "It all happened the night before, I had thought I was going to pay Lady Dahlia a visit because I will admit, things were a little bit tense between Lady Celeste and her and all I wanted to do was make sure that she was okay. But then as I walked, I noticed a cloaked figure climbing into the walls of the house. At first, I did think it was strange and assumed it was a thief and I ran to go and call the guards but alas they had all being poisoned."

I frowned as Ivana spoke, so that was what happened to the guards? I thought to myself as Ivana continued.

"Still scared for my life, I hid in a bush praying to the gods to keep me safe and when I heard a scream I thought someone had died and I was just about to come out when I saw the assassin running into the woods, limping. It would appear someone must have had an encounter with him." Ivana’s gaze landed on mine as she spoke, "I was too scared for my life so I ran out but when I heard they caught the assassin and it turned out to be Lady Dahlia, then I knew I had to speak up. Because if she wanted to kill Lady Celeste she wouldn’t be so dumb as to do something so obvious like kill a ton of guards just to kill one woman!" Ivana finished and I stared at her knowing fully well that she was indeed right.

But at the same time, the way she stated the obvious couldn’t make me help but wonder if there was something else beneath her tone.

"And how can we be so sure you are telling the truth?" Marina demanded.

Ivana rolled her eyes discreetly but I saw it and admired her boldness. "Because how do you expect a woman like her to take down four of the guards who were stationed outside the house?"

Reagan’s gaze landed on mine and I knew he was thinking the exact same thing I was. I could take down the guards, I had no issues doing that but then again, it’s best we keep that bit of information to myself.

All of a sudden, Celeste stood up and slammed her hands down on her seat in frustration. "But I saw her! I saw her in my room standing over me with a knife!" She accused as she stood up from the chair, "She tried to kill me and I know I may not look like I’ve been attacked but she made me lose my baby!"

I rolled my eyes at the same time Ivana spoke in a bored tone. "Oh really? Have you seen her? She has bruises on her face and I’ll just automatically assume that you are too much of a coward that you are too much of a coward to that, so the attacker must have been the one to that while Lady Dahlia protected you!"

"She could have done that to herself!" Celeste yelled back not willing to back down. She ran forward stopping in front of the women a look of desperation on her face, "She’s lying! Can’t you see? This is all a ploy in order for Reagan not to make me Lady of the house? Can’t you all see she’s lying?" Celeste cried out.

Ivana scoffed while blatantly rolling her eyes. "Oh please Celeste enough with the theatrics already. If she wanted to kill you she wouldn’t have wasted time standing over you dramatically with a knife!" Ivana said and I had to nod with an agreement.

"And how would you know that?" Celeste turned her angry gaze to Ivana, "Unless of course you guys concocted a plan to get rid of me together?"

Seriously could she get any more dramatic?

"Please, don’t flatter yourself!" Ivana replied with a wave of her hand.

Celeste’s face contorted in rage but before she could spit out another lie Reagan slammed his hands down! "That’s enough!" He roared out the voice echoing in the matter room. "This whole trial was pointless as it is clear who is lying and who is telling the truth!" He said his gaze landing on Marina and Celeste.

"But my Lord, I...."

"This trial is over, everyone get out and leave except my wife!" Reagan ordered his tone authoritative and final, "Did I fucking stutter?" Reagan yelled when no one made a move to get out!

No one needed to be told twice, everyone ran outside immediately , including Celeste who almost tripped on her feet. Ivana bowed her head as she left but not before I caught the satisfied smirk on her face.

I needed to talk to her!
