Chapter 109: A stunning Gift

DAHLIA POV

My wife!

That word continued to play in my mind even the next morning. Reagan had claimed me has his wife in front of his entire family. I didn’t know whether to be happy about that or be worried. The look in Marina’s face as she stared back and forth at me and Reagan would have melted an entire block of ice.

But Reagan stood protectively in front of me and claimed he was going to talk to her instead. He stood up for me, something that had never happened before and in front of his family no less. I could feel a smile forming on my face as I thought about it.

"Someone looks happy."

My gaze locked with that of Heather’s who stared at me through the vanity mirrors as I gently rubbed lotion on my hands. I rolled my eyes at the way Heather grinned as if someone had just presented to her a huge big present that contained all her favorite things in the world.

"Oh please." I stated dryly, "I am not happy."

Heather arched a brow up at me, "Really? Those blush on your cheeks says otherwise." She says as he came towards me and picked up the hairbrush.

"I am not happy." I said even though the warmth in my chest betrayed me as I spoke the words, "I am just confused really. I still don’t know what this means for us."

"Perhaps it doesn’t mean anything, perhaps he is being genuine."

I hummed in response. "Perhaps, perhaps not." I said as Heather continued to work the brush through my hair.

Reagan suddenly claiming me in front of his family was unexpected and it was nice. It was also something that I’ve wanted for a very long time. But I was no fool, or at least I wasn’t willing to become one ever again. I know the love Reagan has for his family, or at least the love and respect in his mother, I wasn’t stupid to believe that it was something that could easily be undone.

This new sides Reagan was showing me was just something that will take getting used to, especially considering everything that has happened. I just hope neither of us gets hurt in the process and besides, who knows? It might just be another phase of his, then he realizes that he doesn’t need me anymore.

"And there you go overthinking again." Heather suddenly said.

I smiled at her, "I can’t help it."

"That’s a lie." Heather snorted at me in response, "You actually can help it, you just need to let yourself go and enjoy the moment."

"But enjoying it to might cause me to get lose myself and I don’t want that to happen again, not till at least I’m sure." Not till at least I’m sure of his feelings for me, assuming he had any.

Heather sighed at that, "Understandable." She said before she continued to work on my hair.

When Heather was done, she went to the wardrobe and began rummaging for what I was going to wear for the day. I sat still while watching as she moved from various gowns when all of a sudden there was a knock at the door.

Heather and I both turned to look at each other with brows raised, no doubt wondering who would come knocking at my door.

"I’m going to go check it out." Heather stated and I nodded my head in response as she turned and left the room.

I sat still, wondering who would come visiting since I don’t get visitors at all but I didn’t have to wait long since Heather came in carrying a basket that contained food and following closely after her was another servant and this one was holding a very beautiful dress.

Arching a brow up, I stood up from my seat, my gaze filled with confusion as I stared at the beautiful dress I was unable to look away from. "And what is this?"

"Apparently Sire brought you breakfast to your room and also got you a dress." Heather stated turning to look at the dress.

I turned to smile at her in response. "Yes, Heather I can see that very much but for what is the question I’m asking?"

The blonde girl stepped forward and bowed at me. "My lady."

"You may speak." I gave her the permission to speak, my curiosity getting the better of me.

"Sire asked that food be brought up to your room as you were still tired from yesterday’s journey and wouldn’t like to be stressed_"

That was surprisingly considerate of him! I thought to myself before listening to the servant who still spoke with her head bowed. "

"Then he bought this dress for you and instructed that it is to be worn at the dinner party happening tonight." The servant finished.

"A dinner party?" I asked feeling more confused than ever.

I didn’t hear anything about a dinner party that would be happening and moreover what was it for?

As if she could hear my question the girl turned to look at me with a small smile on my face. "It’s to celebrate his safe return and yours too of course."

"Ah, I see." That was all I said as I stared at the dress the girl still held in her hands.

It was a stunning dress there was no doubt about that. It was my favorite color too, soft blue and the material looked so soft I wanted to do nothing more than to feel its texture on my skin. A soft smile formed on my face as I continued to stare at the dress.

Heather approached me still holding the basket in her hand as she turned to look at me, "And you still doubt his feelings for you?" She asked, her voice dropping to a whisper.

I rolled my eyes at her but there was no ignoring the warmth creeping into my chest as I stared back at the dress. But the question still remained, if Reagan was now sending me breakfast and inviting me to the dinner party, what exactly was he trying to prove?
