The Investiture: Unlimited Blade Works Nezha
Chapter 98: Mosquito Eradication

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Mosquito Eradication

Nezha roused everyone’s morale before setting off for the Blood Sea.

It seemed that even the Primordial Heavenly Dao had grown sick of the Mosquito Daoist for a long time. Hao Tian barely expended any effort with the Hao Tian Mirror, and yet the Mosquito Daoist’s lair was easily located...

Hidden deep within the crimson mountains at the edge of the Blood Sea—a paradise for mosquitoes in the Primordial world.

The Blood Sea, though famously deemed "endless," was really just bragging. The Primordial world itself has boundaries—so how could the Blood Sea not?

Nezha led a team of Mystic Sect elites straight toward the Blood Sea.

The many Great Experts of the Mystic Sect each displayed their Divine Skills, while Nezha was carried directly by Xuan Du. Finding Xuan Du unexpectedly approachable—like an older brother-type top student from next door—Nezha quickly warmed up and eagerly sought his guidance.

As one of the first humans, Xuan Du deeply revered Lady Nuwa apart from his own teacher. His relationship with Nuwa was almost maternal, though in the Primordial world, the bond between teacher and disciple far outweighs that of parent and child.

Now, Nezha was both Lady Nuwa’s disciple and a member of the Human Clan, so Xuan Du’s initial impression of him was exceedingly positive.

Upon arriving at the Blood Sea, Nezha and the other Immortals directly blocked the Nether River Mother’s doorstep. "You think I forgot how you tried to intimidate me back then? Not a chance!"

"Yan Zhi! Yan Zhi! I’m here to see you!" Nezha called out loudly from the shore of the Blood Sea.

The Blood Sea churned, and soon, a streak of crimson light transformed into a striking woman whose smile looked painfully forced. "Oh my, isn’t this little brother Nezha? Last time you left in such a rush—we didn’t even get the chance to properly host you."

"And honestly, there’s no need to bring such a grand entourage just to visit your dear elder sisters. You’re going to scare us witless!"

Nezha donned a harmless, pure-hearted smile and replied, "The Nether River Mother was so kind to me last time that I couldn’t help but swing by while handling official business."

"Hehe, on behalf of the Mother, thank you for your thoughtfulness."

All the while, the Nether River Mother—hiding within the Blood Sea—was utterly exasperated. Why was this brat so petty?

She had sensed their arrival from the moment they came near. Back in her prime, even at peak form, she would only dare to shout, "You cannot kill me!" in the face of this crowd.

Let alone now.

Nezha dropped the teasing and adopted a serious expression. "The Mosquito Daoist has fallen into the Demon Dao, assaulted Mystic Sect disciples, and seeks to upend the Primordial Heavenly Dao. We are here to eliminate this demonic scourge.

We hope, Senior, that you will cooperate."

Would the Nether River Mother cooperate?

It didn’t matter—cooperate she must.

She was also part of the Nether River and well-acquainted with her pesky neighbor, the Mosquito Daoist. Though after today, they were no longer acquaintances.

She promptly appeared, parting the Blood Sea to reveal a direct passage leading toward the Mosquito Daoist’s crimson mountain lair.

Nezha politely bid her farewell. "Take care, Senior. I’ll come visit again when I have time!"

The Nether River Mother desperately wanted to retort, *"You little bastard, don’t ever come back!"*, but restrained herself. Facing the eager Mystic Sect Immortals, she forced a polite smile and replied, "Do stop by when you’re free!"

She was mad, not stupid.

On the other side, the Ancestor of Nether River gleefully watched the scene. *Mosquito Daoist, you love to laugh, huh? Let’s see if you’re still laughing in a bit!*

The group of Immortals strode through the Blood Sea’s passageway toward the Mosquito Daoist’s lair, their imposing presence undisguised.

From afar, the Mosquito Daoist had already sensed their approach and was dumbfounded. After reevaluating his situation, he immediately realized the Western Sect had pinned the blame on him.

His first instinct was to flee, but then he saw the entire crimson mountain range spanning tens of thousands of miles, now entirely shrouded by a colossal Tai Chi Diagram.

The Mosquito Daoist: "..."

Forcing himself to stay composed, he materialized and greeted them politely. "This humble one is the Mosquito Daoist. May I ask the purpose of such an esteemed gathering of Mystic Sect disciples in my humble domain?"

Before Nezha could reply, a group of Western Sect disciples chanted a Buddha’s name: "Mosquito Daoist, you have fallen into the Demon Dao, led Junior Brother Xu Puti astray, and committed grave sins. Today, we shall take you in."

Then, some unknown Western disciple hollered, "Against demonic fiends, there’s no need to uphold Primordial principles. Everyone, attack together!"

The Western disciples unleashed their Magical Treasures—lotuses, Treasure Mallets, and Prayer Beads—activating their ten-foot golden bodies one by one as they charged in unison.

The Mosquito Daoist didn’t even have time to explain before being mobbed. "It was clearly you Western—"

Dashizhi, swift and precise, struck the Mosquito Daoist’s chest with the Six Roots Pure Bamboo, cutting him off mid-sentence and instantly plunging him into darkness.

The Mosquito Daoist, driven by the primal instincts of a beast, immediately realized there was no chance for a peaceful resolution today. Surrendering was out of the question.

In an instant, he activated his innate Divine Skill, blending seamlessly into his surroundings and vanishing, while simultaneously emitting a mysterious pulse to summon a swarm of mosquitoes.

Dashizhi exchanged a glance with his peers and instructed, "Form the array."

The Western Sect disciples each radiated golden light that quickly intertwined, encapsulating the entire area.

The Mosquito Daoist knew this was a fight to the death.

*These shameless bald monks—none of them are leaving unscathed!*

He transformed into a thin wisp of black smoke and pierced through one of the Western disciples, draining their soul and leaving their body a dried husk—a gruesome sight.

Meanwhile, Nezha and his group faced their own adversary: an endless swarm of mosquitoes filling the sky!

Nezha couldn’t help but feel like he was cursed to clash against insects in the Primordial world. "Wouldn’t you agree, Pan Hu?"

There were plenty of bigshots present, but most of them were simply idling. Xuan Du excused himself, saying, "I’m holding up the Tai Chi Diagram. Good luck to you all."

Duobao and Guang Chengzi chimed in with, "You’re in charge this time. We’ll leave it to you."

If they wanted to slack off, so be it—it wasn’t like they had to deal with the Mosquito Daoist directly. Handling the mosquito swarm was still an easy task.

First came the Spider Demons. Seeing the endless black swarm of mosquitoes, they were as excited as diners at a buffet, positively thrilled.

Unfortunately, there were simply too many mosquitoes for them to devour.

So they opted for fire instead. The swarm, numbering in billions and impossibly small, reproduced faster than they could be exterminated one by one.

At Nezha’s command, with the Heavenly Soldiers graciously provided by Bai Ze Demon Saint, they pulled out pre-prepared enchanted paper figures, doused them in oil, and hurled them into the swarm.

Then Nezha shouted, "Set them ablaze!"

Immortals wielding fire-attributed Magical Treasures unleashed them, while others summoned Samadhi Fire.

With oil-soaked paper figures ignited by various flames, massive waves of fire swept across the mosquito swarm.

Within the ranks of the Jie Sect Immortals, Flame Immortal Luo Xuan eagerly unleashed the Ten Thousand Crow Pot. He cackled in glee, "Damn, who knew it was so satisfying to burn mosquitoes?"

Luo Xuan had always been a pyromaniac. In another timeline, he had set Xiqi ablaze with Liu Huan.

Now fully engrossed, he roared, "Wind! Wind! Let karmic fire rain down and turn you all to ashes!"

The first to respond was Outer Sect Senior Brother Old Zhao, whose primary weapon, the Ocean Stabilizing Divine Pearl, wasn’t suited to the situation.

But upon hearing Luo Xuan’s call, he promptly unleashed his mana, conjuring invisible air currents that transformed into tempestuous winds aimed at the mosquitoes.

With wind fueling fire, the blazing Divine Flames incinerated countless mosquitoes. Yet, given their overwhelming numbers, a few mutated specimens and higher-cultivated mosquitoes managed to escape the inferno.

Those disciples less adept at fire or wind Divine Skills stepped forward to confront the survivors, and the battle began anew.
