Chapter 220: Chapter 219 Chase and Escape

When Kun Daoist saw Nezha, he fled immediately—not because of a guilty conscience, but simply out of reflex. After all, for someone focused on the Great Dao, guilt wasn’t even relevant.

It was mainly a stress response. Back when he witnessed Nezha’s axe strike during the Witch Demon War, Kunpeng, who had participated in that battle, found it all too familiar. Although he had rationalized everything afterward, it was impossible to completely suppress his primal instincts.

Now, Kun Daoist found himself in a similar situation. Turning to flee was his immediate reaction, though upon reflection, he figured he probably could have endured that axe strike as long as it didn’t land squarely.

As he looked back, he noticed that the one chasing him had changed to Yunxiao, a One Corpse Quasi-Saint!

As Kunpeng’s Evil Corpse, possessing merely Quasi-Saint Early Stage cultivation and lacking any magical treasures, he was simply no match for this fairy who clearly intended to go all out.

Helpless, he could only run!

He fled.

She pursued.

He had nowhere left to run.

The chase took the three of them through the space, until Kun Daoist dove straight into Beihai with no hesitation.

Yunxiao followed closely, brandishing her Flowing Cloud Sword and slashing at his back with a beam of sword light, before diving in as well.

Nezha, being far weaker in cultivation, was much slower in water. He could only trail far behind the two.

At the front, Kun Daoist continuously cast spells to block Yunxiao’s attacks. Unfortunately, Yunxiao shattered each spell with beams of sword light. The three twisted and turned through the waters, with Kun Daoist occasionally using the aquatic Demon Clan as though they were throwing weapons.

Yet, Yunxiao, already bloodthirsty, was undeterred. She slew anything in her path relentlessly, refusing to let him escape.

By now, Yunxiao had clearly realized that Zhuang Daoist was none other than a fragment of Kunpeng.

Kun Daoist didn’t dare escape to where his true form resided at this moment—his true form was busy studying Hong Yun’s shattered soul, which involved the Hongmeng Purple Qi. There was no way he could risk exposing this secret.

Forced, he led the two of them toward a mysterious space.

He charged headlong into it, and Yunxiao, without an ounce of hesitation, dove straight in after him.

Nezha, arriving last, didn’t rush in immediately. Having some understanding of the Space Dao, he inspected the spatial entrance repeatedly and was left speechless.

Because Yunxiao had chased in the wrong direction.

It wasn’t that she was too slow to keep up, but rather, this space resembled a "random portal," meaning that after entering, the destination was entirely random.

Among over three thousand small worlds, they were separated instantly.

In the Primordial World, many events were governed by randomness. This was because the Primordial World itself was imperfect, and its inherent flaws left it far from perfection. The accumulation of chaotic, unpredictable incidents over time created uncontrollable factors, which eventually manifested as systemic bugs at the level of the Heavenly Dao—these were the true triggers of Primordial World catastrophes.

If it couldn’t be fixed, simply erase it.

And so, randomness became an objective phenomenon in the Primordial World. Otherwise, if every event were predetermined at the moment of its inception, the Primordial World would be terrifyingly rigid.

The Daoist Ancestor had no interest in micromanaging every little thing. As long as events stayed within the boundaries he set, anything was allowed.

Two people who knew nothing of spatial mechanics—one rolled a "two" on the dice, while the other rolled a "four." They ended up drifting far apart.

Nezha, with his superior understanding of space, could manipulate his roll slightly. With a small spell, he also rolled a "four," following Yunxiao’s path.

There was no way he would face that individual alone. Even though he didn’t yet know who it was, anyone who could escape from Yunxiao would certainly be beyond his Profound Immortal capabilities to handle.

Finding Yunxiao as quickly as possible was his only choice!

Stepping through the spatial gate, he saw Yunxiao already standing at the entrance with a face full of frustration.

After entering, Nezha glanced back and saw that the gate behind them had vanished. Surveying this strange space, a peculiar sense of familiarity struck him.

Seeing Nezha’s odd expression, Yunxiao asked, "Little brother Nezha, have you discovered something?"

Nezha focused his senses again before replying, "This world carries traces of Pangu God’s presence."

"Given that Kunpeng is one of the most powerful Quasi-Saints in the Primordial World, who once occupied a Saint’s seat cushion, with top-notch fortune and Qi Fortune, I suspect he may have obtained some of Pangu’s legacy here."

Back when Hong Jun Daoist Ancestor lectured at Zixiao Palace, there were six cushions below. The first three were claimed by the Three Pure Ones, who were incarnations of Pangu’s Primordial Spirit, blessed with supreme Qi Fortune and happiness. Their positions were unshakable.

The fourth cushion went to Nuwa and her brother. Nuwa, having been born of Innate Extreme Yin Qi, was destined to become the Primordial Mother Goddess. Unfortunately, the external interloper Hong Jun usurped her power. Nonetheless, she firmly held onto her seat.

The fifth and sixth cushions are harder to account for. Initially, Hong Yun and Kunpeng sat there. Hong Yun was said to have emerged from the first breath exhaled by Pangu God after Heaven’s Creation—a red breath, likely tinged with his essence blood due to Pangu’s exhaustion at the time.

Kunpeng’s origins are more mysterious but likely tied to acquiring Pangu’s legacy here, taking the root, fortune, and Qi Fortune of entities like the Roc and Sea God, which allowed him to seize a seat.

Although his fortune was comparatively weaker, his background was arguably slightly superior to the Western Two Saints at the time.

The final two seats eventually went to the two Saints of the Western Sect. Hong Yun, Kunpeng, and Nether River found themselves just a step away from success.

In the end, the Hongmeng Purple Qi was entrusted by the Daoist Ancestor to Hong Yun, demonstrating that Kunpeng’s Devouring Dao was fundamentally too destructive, costing him his own fortune.

Nezha offered Yunxiao his analysis, leaving her utterly stunned. These secrets involving the Saints were beyond anything she could have known.

Nezha had some awareness from his past life, coupled with interactions at higher levels. Among the Heaven and Earth Six Saints, Jieyin Saint was the only one he hadn’t personally encountered. The rest, however, were all exceptionally familiar to him.

His grueling cultivation methods were at complete odds with Nezha’s philosophy. "I cultivate diligently so I can suffer less," he thought. "Yet you ask me to endure hardships as part of my cultivation—wouldn’t that defeat the whole purpose?"

Upon entering this world, Nezha immediately felt an oppressive force pressing upon him. But oddly enough, it gave him a sense of intimacy—it was unmistakably Pangu’s distinct aura.

This suppression wasn’t uniform; rather, it adjusted according to one’s cultivation.

It was clear that Nezha was handling it far better than Yunxiao, whose Quasi-Saint cultivation became a burden. Worse still, her cloud-based origin, already weakened recently, made her struggle considerably.

Flying was out of the question. No one could defy Pangu’s will.

The two began walking toward the place where Nezha sensed Pangu’s presence was strongest.

Before long, Yunxiao was drenched in sweat.

Years ago, she had once visited Buzhou Mountain, hoping to apprentice under the Primordial Female Immortal Nuwa. Yet, merely at the mountain’s base, Pangu’s will had almost dispersed her origin.

Although this manifestation of Pangu’s will wasn’t as strong as Buzhou Mountain, it still pressed heavily upon her.

Nezha, on the other hand, seemed completely unaffected—as if he had come home.

Yunxiao struggled to maintain her poise, but her slow pace was frustrating. At her current speed, it would be unclear how many years it might take to reach their destination.
