Chapter 219: Chapter 218: Starting with a Kun, Leveling Up Through Devouring

The two departed the East Sea with the token from the Tongtian Sect Master in hand, but halfway through the journey, Yunxiao suddenly paused as if she had remembered something.

Nezha asked curiously, "Sister Yun, what’s wrong?"

Yunxiao waved her hand, summoning the Chaos Origin Golden Bowl, directly enveloping the two of them within it.

To be honest, Nezha was a bit excited—could it be time for some strange scene of repaying gratitude?

As it turned out, Nezha was overthinking things.

Inside the Chaos Origin Golden Bowl, following the previous battle, much of the Yellow Sand that could dissolve immortals’ mana was nearly depleted. Yunxiao tapped the center, causing the Yellow Sand to disperse and revealing a flowing Divine Rune.

Looking at the artifact, Nezha felt it seemed familiar, somewhat resembling his own divine authority in the Heavenly Court, though distinctly different in essence.

Before Nezha could ask, Yunxiao preemptively explained, "This is the Innate Divine Rune of the Honored Senior Lord Yunzhong. The senior was born into nobility, but his rise and downfall were both tied to Yun Meng Swamp.

As Yun Meng Swamp declined day by day, the senior was unable to sever his bond with it. However, under the unique force of your divine ax, the senior finally broke free from Yun Meng Swamp’s burden, though it pushed him to the brink of death.

To sum it up, this is a Divine Status, but one that has already shattered and has been forsaken by the Primordial Heaven and Earth. The Honored Senior Lord Yunzhong has left behind a remnant soul residing within it. Using his last reserves of strength, he entrusted me to deliver this Divine Status into your hands."

Studying the Divine Status, Nezha had an idea. He drew a large pool of Merit from his palm and poured it into the Divine Status. The surrounding Power of Heaven coursed through, extracting the Merit from Nezha’s hand. The Divine Status seemed to break some unseen shackle, suddenly appearing mismatched with the Primordial.

The Chaos Pearl within Nezha’s divine soul flickered, and the Divine Status embedded itself directly into his brow, entering Taihuangtian.

Nezha immediately sat cross-legged and began investigating Taihuangtian. As for Yunxiao, he figured she wouldn’t attack him. From the outside, there was nothing visible anyway.

Inside Taihuangtian, after Nezha’s countless efforts, lotus flowers and spirit plants were everywhere, surpassing the foundation of any common Pocket World. The water element was particularly abundant.

Once the Divine Status entered Taihuangtian, it began to subtly resonate with the Heavenly Dao. With a single thought, Nezha harmonized it further. The Divine Status began fully integrating into Taihuangtian.

Finally, Taihuangtian welcomed its first divine being: the Water God.

An invisible augmentation of the local Heavenly Dao’s power descended. Though the Divine Status was shattered, its quality remained astonishingly high. Before long, its outer fragments fell away, revealing a blue Divine Rune less than one-tenth of its original size.

At the same time, a youth dressed in blue robes, with an exquisite face and a blue Divine Rune glowing on his forehead, materialized.

"Honored Senior Lord Yunzhong?"

The youth sighed and replied, "There is no Yunzhong Lord anymore. From now on, I’m just your subordinate Water Yuan."

The two talked for a while more. The former Lord Yunzhong, now Water Yuan, would henceforth detach from the Primordial and bind himself to Taihuangtian, becoming its Water God.

Essentially, Nezha had spent a pool of Merit and traded with the Primordial Heavenly Dao for a discarded Divine Status. A forsaken Divine Status didn’t imply it was inferior—in fact, this artifact was one of the original creations molded by Pangu’s primordial consciousness, completely distinct from the current Heavenly Dao-created Divine Status.

The oldest divine beings were the lords of their respective regions, fully capable of modifying the laws within their own domains. Strictly speaking, these ancient gods embodied the lands they governed.

By contrast, modern Divine Statuses were created specifically to function within the Incense Fire Divine Dao, granting use rights but not ownership. Theirs were mere positions, unlike the ancestral inheritance of those ancient gods.

From now on, Water Yuan would manage Taihuangtian on Nezha’s behalf, autonomously expanding Taihuangtian and serving as its housekeeper. Nezha could save a lot of effort this way.

Afterward, Nezha asked why Water Yuan had fallen to such a state.

Speaking of this, Water Yuan’s composed demeanor faltered. His consciousness was incomplete; many memories of his time as Yunzhong Lord were already lost. But concerning his enemies, he could recall every detail.

As expected, it was Kunpeng and the Ancestor of Nether River who had orchestrated the act. While the Lord Yunzhong was in decline, he was at least living a quiet life, though dimmer than in his prime.

Yet these two conspired against him. The Ancestor of Nether River first corrupted the last remnants of Yun Meng Swamp with the Blood Sea’s contamination, while Kunpeng, more ruthless still, directly devoured his True Spirit and Divine Status.

His origin was extracted for some unknown purpose.

Fortunately, this particular Divine Status was strengthened by the Power of Heaven. Coupled with the short duration, he managed to preserve some vestige of his True Spirit.

As for why they sought the essence of the Sanxiao, Water Yuan had no idea.

Water Yuan mentioned another crucial point to Nezha: he wasn’t the first divine being Kunpeng had devoured. Though he didn’t know who, it was likely another water-related god.

Hearing this, Nezha felt a headache coming on. Memories of a certain odd advertisement from his past life popped into his mind: "Start with just a Kun, evolve purely by swallowing, become the ultimate Kun, the supreme Kun..."

The game’s developers had apparently been too conservative...

Nezha couldn’t help but ask suspiciously, "What exactly is Kunpeng’s true form?"

Even Lord Yunzhong hadn’t been able to answer this question, and now as Water Yuan, he certainly couldn’t either.

Returning from Taihuangtian, Nezha’s consciousness merged back with his body. He found Yunxiao staring at him blankly from across the way.

"Sister Yun, what are you thinking about?"

Yunxiao returned to her senses, smiled gently, and said, "I wish you really were my brother."

Nezha didn’t quite understand what she meant, replying casually, "I already consider myself your brother anyway. Why else would I always call you Sister?"

He then conveyed all the information they had learned to Yunxiao.

After listening to the whole story, Yunxiao also had no clue why their origins had been targeted, or what Kunpeng’s true form could be.

None of that mattered. Whatever Kunpeng’s true form, if she ever had the chance, she was determined to kill both Kunpeng and the Ancestor of Nether River!

For the other details, Yunxiao was tactful and didn’t push for answers.

Exiting the Chaos Origin Golden Bowl, the two resumed their journey toward Beihai.

They moved at a brisk pace and soon located the space wherein Gui Ling Saint Mother resided.

The area was teeming with turtles and snakes, sparking Nezha’s intense dislike. He truly felt ill-fated when facing these swarms of creatures.

He was considering transforming into the golden crow form to explore further, find Gui Ling, and ’persuade’ the Divine Turtle, when the Taihuangtian within his divine soul suddenly emitted a strange tremor.

Following its pull, he looked up to see a burly man in a Daoist robe, adorned with blue Divine Runes, smirking mischievously as he gazed off at a certain point.

Nezha followed the man’s gaze and locked eyes with him just as the Daoist turned and fled.

Nezha didn’t know who this person was, but instinctively unleashed the Rainbow Transformation Technique to give chase.

"Why are you chasing me?"

"Why are you running?"

Yunxiao, ever decisive, joined Nezha and sped after the fleeing Daoist.

The burly Daoist was no slowpoke, but Nezha, now comprehensively enhanced, showed a monumental leap in speed. Though still a Peak Profound Immortal, he steadily began to close the gap.

As a being transformed from clouds, Yunxiao’s mastery of the Water Escape technique was extraordinary, allowing her to rely on cultivation strength to directly overtake Nezha and rapidly approach the burly Daoist.
