The Hero's Forsaken Princess -
Chapter 64: The Clash
Chapter 64: The Clash
There were fifteen royal guards stationed at the palace entrance including the group leader. If Randolf continued to provoke them, they would retaliate. Even though the leader had become Eve’s hostage, the royal guards started to surround Eve and Randolf.
They tried to intimidate them using their number. It would be Fourteen versus Two! Besides, they thought Princess Eve was only bluffing.
"Drop your sword, Princess. If His Majesty learns about this, you will be subjected to punishment. The grand banquet is a very important gathering to honor the Crown Prince of Eldara. You shall leave quietly." The leader of the guards tried to sway her.
"Don’t mess with my people!" A deep voice was heard. A man suddenly appeared, jumping down from the palace wall, and joined them.
"That’s what the Princess wants to convey to all of you. Don’t mess with her people!" Gideon spoke, interpreting Eve’s action. He had been observing the situation secretly.
"Professor Deon!" Randolf exclaimed. He was glad that an ally showed up.
Eve also smiled upon meeting Gideon’s gaze.
"And who the hell are you?" A royal guard asked him.
Gideon’s attire resembled those of a nobleman. He was still in his disguise, concealing his identity as the Black Hunter.
"I’m Princess Eve’s teacher," Gideon confidently replied. A dangerous glint flashed through his eyes as he gazed at the royal guards.
’As Royal Guards, they are supposed to protect the princess. But here they are... trying to harm her. I badly want to beat them.’ Gideon thought to himself, clenching his teeth.
"I heard everything. You were disrespectful to the princess. I will definitely report this to His Majesty," Gideon added, sneering at them.
However, the royal guards remained unfazed, thinking that Queen Amara would be on their side. The command of not letting Princess Eve enter the palace came from the queen.
The ruckus at the palace gate started to attract bystanders. People came to watch what was happening. The invited nobles, who had just arrived at the palace entrance, stopped approaching them as they observed the situation on the sideline.
"Are they fighting?"
"What’s going on here?"
"Hey, I’ve heard those people didn’t have an invitation. And they are trying to force the royal guard to let them in. They took one guard as a hostage!"
"So how are we going to resolve this? We are attracting more people now." Gideon became Eve’s spokesperson since she was still pretending to be mute.
"Release our captain! And you take your leave!" A royal guard shouted in annoyance.
"You caused too much delay now! The invited guests are still lining up to enter the palace! Take away Princess Eve with you! Send her back home. She is not invited here!" Another royal guard deliberately mentioned Eve’s name to humiliate her in front of the crowd.
The murmuring of the crowd began.
"What?! The woman pointing the sword at the royal guard is none other than the third princess, Evelina!"
"Tsk! She is so unrefined, arrogant, impertinent, and uncouth. How could she abuse her power as a princess, attacking a royal guard who is diligently performing his duty?"
"She is throwing a tantrum because she is not invited. I heard she is sick and has a contagious disease. Maybe the royal family excluded her from attending the grand banquet because of her health condition."
"Gosh! She is such a disgrace to the royal family. Can she just leave!"
The spectators started to attack Eve with their harsh words. They didn’t even know the real situation. In their eyes, Eve was the villain here, causing trouble for the royal guards.
Randolf became more enraged after hearing the insulting words people were throwing at Eve.
"How could they judge Princess Eve without knowing the situation first?!" Randolf blurted out frustratedly, gripping his sword tightly.
Gideon moved closer to Eve and whispered, "Princess, with so many people watching, what do you intend to do now? We will follow your lead."
Eve roamed her eyes in her surroundings. She felt disappointed because the man she wanted to see was not there.
’Alaric might be inside the palace now. I didn’t mean to create a big ruckus here. I just don’t want them to take Randolf away. Maybe leaving quietly is the best choice. Besides, I’m not interested in attending the grand banquet.’
Princess Eve glanced at Gideon and silently mouthed the word ’Retreat’.
Gideon nodded in understanding. With that, he prepared to make a clear path for Eve and Randolf.
"Dolf," he approached Randolf. "On my signal, run away with the princess. Escort her back to the carriage."
"Yes, Sir!" Randolf promptly responded.
Gideon tapped Randolf’s shoulder and said, "Good job on protecting Her Highness... and for speaking up for her. You are a real knight!" He praised Randolf’s loyalty to the princess.
Randolf smiled back at Gideon. "Thank you, Prof. Deon. I pledge my loyalty to the princess. I’ll do everything to protect her. I will fight everyone who disrespects her!"
Gideon chuckled, giving an approving look. Soon, he approached Eve.
"Give me your sword, Princess."
Eve obediently handed the sword over to Gideon.
At that moment, the leader signaled his knights to launch an attack since Eve was no longer pointing her sword at his neck.
"Capture them, NOW!"
"Run!" Gideon also commanded Randolf.
The royal guards charged forward, attacking Eve, Gideon, and Randolf.
Gideon jumped first, giving the leader a flying kick. He hit his jaw. The sound of breaking bones was heard.
Crack!
Then with his flash steps, he leaped forward to clear a path for Randolf and Eve. He clashed swords with the royal guards while Randolf grabbed Princess Eve’s hand, both of them running away.
Gideon’s sword style was unpredictable. The royal knights couldn’t keep up with his speed. Before they knew it, their swords slipped out of their hands.
Gideon made sure that the royal guards couldn’t get near Eve and Randolf. He was like a rampaging tornado, sending the knights flying to the ground.
Thud! Thud!
Their groans and whimpers echoed in the area. The spectators couldn’t help but gasp in awe as they watched the royal guards being beaten up by one man.
Meanwhile, Eve and Randolf were about to reach the carriage, however, another group of royal guards who were escorting a royalty blocked their path.
Eve and Randolf had no choice but to stop.
’Damn it! Another group of nuisance!’ Randolf cursed inwardly as he shielded the princess using his large figure.
