The Hero's Forsaken Princess
Chapter 168: Feeling Jealous

Chapter 168: Feeling Jealous

The elite warriors sent by Crown Prince Cassian finally entered the castle through the secret passage– the hidden tunnel. The group was headed by Enox. The first batch was composed of ten knights.

"Captain, this is the map. After analysing the areas, I think this is the way to Lady Sylvana’s pavilion." One knight informed Enox.

"Fine. Take the lead. Bring us to this place." Enox commanded him. Then, he turned to their comrades. "The two of you should stay here at the entrance of the hidden tunnel. You will serve as a lookout. Understand?"

"Yes, Captain. We understand!" they responded in unison.

"We will divide the team into two groups. The four of you should find Chancellor Igrin. You have to capture him. But don’t let him know that we already know he is a traitor. That is an order from our crown prince." Enox instructed the rest of his team members.

Everyone nodded as they moved separately. The person who was familiar with reading the map guided Enox group to Sylvana’s quarters. The men moved swiftly in the dark, concealing their presence. They were very cautious not to get caught by the patroling royal guards.

After half an hour of roaming around the castle, Enox’s group finally found Sylvana’s pavilion. They were not certain if Sylvana was inside. They had to trust Miles’ words because he was the one who met Sylvana in this pavilion.

"Captain, should we barge in or knock before entering the room?" his comrade consulted Enox first before making a move.

"We will sneak in. We don’t know who is the person behind this door. We can afford to see someone else. We must make sure that Lady Sylvana is here before revealing our identity."

After hearing Enox’s instructions, the knight started to pick on the lock, opening the door from the outside.

"It’s open!" he whispered.

Enox patted his back. "Good job. Stay here and be a lookout. I’ll enter the room."

Three men stayed outside to keep watch as Enox snuck into the room. It was dark inside, and it looked like the person was fast asleep on the bed. He quietly made his way over. There was a lantern on the bedside table, and he lit it to see who was lying there.

Enox’s eyes sparkled on delight upon seeing Sylvana’s sleeping figure. "It’s Lady Sylvana’s room. Miles was right. She is staying here."

His hand reached out, tapping Sylvana’s shoulders to wake her up.

After a few seconds, Sylvana peeled her eyes open, only to be surprised to see a masked man inside her room. She immediately sat up, pushing the man away.

"Who are you? What do you want from me?" Sylvana asked, tugging the blanket to cover her body from the masked man.

Enox raised his forefinger, signaling Sylvana to keep silent. He removed his mask to reveal his face to her.

"Lady Sylvana, it’s me Enox. Crown Prince Cassian sent me to rescue you. We will get you out of here!" he said, reassuring her.

Sylvana’s fear disappeared almost instantly when Crown Prince Cassian’s name was mentioned.

’My master sent them to save me.’ She felt so happy.

"Is Crown Prince Cassian here?" Sylvana darted her gaze around her, hoping to see Prince Cassian. Deep down, she was expecting Prince Cassian to come personally to rescue her.

"Crown Prince Cassian is here in the capital. But he stayed outside the castle. Captain Avan forbids him from joining us. It is for his safety." Enox explained. He could tell that Sylvana was searching for Prince Cassian.

Sylvana was a little bit disappointed. But she understood the risk. It was best for Prince Cassian to stay outside. Infiltrating the castle would expose himself to danger.

"We must leave now, Lady Sylvana. Crown Prince Cassian is waiting for your return," Enox said, extending his right hand to Sylvana.

Sylvana nodded with a smile. She accepted his hand. Enox assisted her to stand up, getting of the bed. Since she was only wearing a night dress, Enox gave her his black coat to cover her body. They didn’t want to waste times.

After securing Sylvana, Enox’s group proceeded to the secret passage.

"Lady Sylvana, you should go ahead and follow this passage. It’s a hidden tunnel connected outside the castle. The two of them will escort you and keep you safe until you get out of the palace," Enox said, urging her to escape with his comrades.

"Are you not coming with us, Captain Enox?" Sylvana asked him worriedly.

He gave her a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry about me. Your safety is our priority. But we still have to capture Chancellor Igrin. I can’t leave my comrades. They are still inside, searching for Chancellor Igrin. I must help them."

Sylvana nodded in understanding. "You have to be careful. Chancellor Igrin is a cunning man." She warned them.

"Yes, Lady Sylvana. We will be careful. Go now!"

Sylvana took one last glance at Enox before leaving. Two knights escorted her while Enox returned to the palace. They had to accomplish their mission– capturing Chancellor Igrin.

Sylvana kept walking with large strides. She couldn’t wait to see Prince Cassian. She missed him so much.

’I wonder if he is worried about me. What if he is only thinking about Princess Eve?’

Sylvana couldn’t help herself from getting jealous. She knew that Prince Cassian wanted Eve because of her power. She was also the main reason for that. If she hadn’t told him about her vision, then Prince Cassian wouldn’t get interested in knowing Princess Eve.

At first, Prince Cassian refused to believe that he needed a woman to achieve his goal. But the moment he met Princess Eve, he changed his mind instantly, wanting to get closer to her.

Sylvana was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn’t notice the exit of the tunnel.

"Lady Sylvana, we are here!" Her guard informed her.

"Let’s continue. At the end of this tunnel, Crown Prince Cassian and Captain Avan are waiting for you," he added.

Sylvana tried her best to forget her insecurities. The most important thing right now was to see Crown Prince Cassian, her master and the man she loved.

It did not take long before they finally reached the exit. Sylvana had mixed emotions the moment her eyes caught a glimpse of the man she was dying to see.

"Prince Cassian," she uttered softly, her eyes tearing up.

"Your Highness, they are here!" Captain Avan spoke up, noticing Sylvana’s arrival.

Crown Prince Cassian turned to look at her. His heart skipped a beat upon meeting Sylvana’s gaze. Her tears started to fall from the corners of her eyes, but her lips curled up into a bright smile.

She had the urge to run and hug him, but she restrained herself from doing so. She knew she didn’t have the right to do that. She needed his permission first before she could touch him.

She just stood there, her teary eyes fixed on him. She clenched her fists, fighting the urge to reach out to him.

However, to her surprise, Crown Prince Cassian made a move. With large strides, he closed the gaps between them. Without saying a word, he pulled her into a tight embrace, shocking everyone... including Sylvana.

"I’m glad you are safe," Crown Prince Cassian murmured as he tightened his grip on Sylvana’s body.

He didn’t know what had gotten into him, but seeing Sylvana gave him a sense of relief. He had been worried about her ever since he learned she had been captured by the enemy, though he hadn’t wanted to admit it to himself. But now that he had finally seen her again, his emotions took over.

Meanwhile, Sylvana’s tears streamed down her face like raindrops. She couldn’t believe it. Prince Cassian initiated to hug her first. He even ran in her direction.

"Forgive me, your Highness for making you worry about me. I didn’t expect that Chancellor Igrin would betray us."

A cold glint flashed through Prince Cassian’s eyes at the mention of Chancellor Igrin. He was furious just thinking about that traitor.

"Don’t worry, I’ll punish him for his crime," he said, gently stroking her hair. For some unknown reason, he tried comforting Sylvana.

"Were you hurt? Did they do anything to you?" Prince Cassian asked worriedly as he broke the hug. He looked her over from head to toe, making sure she hadn’t been tortured by the enemy.

Sylvana wiped her tears away as she spoke up. "No. They didn’t hurt me. They never treated me like a prisoner."

Prince Cassian was stunned upon hearing that.

"Maybe, they just found you useful, that’s why they didn’t mistreat you," Captain Avan butted in.

"Crown Prince Leonard is different from King Zaraki. He is so kind. He was the one who protected me from King Zaraki and Chancellor Gustav." Sylvana explained.

Crown Prince Cassian’s expression contorted when Sylvana mentioned another prince.

’Why does she look so happy when talking about that prince? Does she like him?’ For some unknown reason, he found himself feeling jealous.
