The Hero's Forsaken Princess
Chapter 140: She Wants Revenge

Chapter 140: She Wants Revenge

"Eve! Wake up! You are just dreaming." Alaric tapped her shoulders and gently shook her body.

Eve was crying, calling her mother in her sleep. Alaric could tell that she was having a nightmare.

It did not take long before Eve peeled her eyes open. Her face was soaked with her tears.

Her heart was still pounding so hard against her chest and her body was sweating profusely. She panted heavily, catching her breath.

Then suddenly, Eve pushed Alaric away.

"Leave me!" she roared at him, shocking Alaric.

He didn’t know why Eve was mad at him. He could even see hatred in her eyes as she stared at him.

"Why? Did I do something wrong to upset you?" Alaric asked her, his heart constricting in pain.

’What happened to her in the forest? What’s with her sudden change in behavior?’ Alaric clenched his fists.

"Just leave me. I don’t want to see you right now," Eve responded coldly.

Her indifference was breaking Alaric’s heart. With no choice left, Alaric reluctantly stepped out of the carriage.

When Alaric disappeared from her sight, Eve burst into tears, sobbing. She covered her face using both hands as she cried silently, not wanting Alaric to hear her.

She was still in pain. The memory of her mother’s death was fresh in her mind. Her heart was filled with anger and resentment. She couldn’t forgive the people who caused her mother’s death. Unfortunately, Alaric was one of them!

’Why, Alaric? Why does it have to be him?’ Her body shook, tears streaming down her face like raindrops.

Meanwhile, worrying about Eve, Alaric sent Gideon to see her.

"Can you please check on my wife right now? She had just a nightmare. She might be feeling scared. However, she didn’t want me there. She kicked me out."

Gideon looked at him with disbelief. "Seriously? She kicked you out?!"

Alaric could only nod in response.

Trying to hold his laughter, Gideon decided to go and check Eve inside the carriage.

Gideon was taken aback for a moment upon seeing her crying. He quickly approached her.

"Eve, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?" Gideon asked her worriedly.

Hearing his familiar voice, Eve put down her hands and looked at him.

"Gideon," she called out to him desperately.

Seeking comfort, Eve pounced on him, hugging him as she buried her face on his chest. She continued crying in his arms.

Gideon didn’t say a word. He just let her cry while rubbing her back. He offered his arms and chest as her comfort zone.

He didn’t know what happened between Alaric and her, but one thing was for sure– Eve had a reason for not wanting to see Alaric for the time being.

Eve didn’t say a word nor explain to him the reason why she was crying. Gideon remained hugging her until she stopped crying.

Then he simply checked her temperature. He was glad that her fever had gone down.

"It’s still dawn. You have to go back to sleep and regain your strength," Gideon coaxed her, gently stroking her hair.

But Eve shook her head. She didn’t want to go back to sleep, afraid she would dream of that tragic night again.

"Alaric said you had a nightmare. Don’t be afraid. I’m here. I’ll be watching you."

Eve’s eyes teared up once again at the mention of Alaric’s name.

"I want revenge," Eve blurted out.

Gideon looked at her with puzzlement.

"What do you mean?" he asked her curiously.

Eve clenched her fists. "I’ve regained my memory. My mother was brutally killed by Queen Amara. King Solomon didn’t do anything to punish her."

Gideon fell silent at Eve’s revelation.

Meanwhile, Eve grabbed Gideon’s hands.

"Please help me... I will avenge my mother’s death. Valemont is not my family. They never treated me as one."

’Why is she telling me this, instead of Alaric?’ Gideon pondered to himself.

"How about Alaric? Don’t you want his help?"

Eve’s expression turned ashen.

"He is also responsible for my mother’s death. I’m afraid... I have to hurt him... as well." She gazed down, biting her lower lip. She fought hard not to shed tears for him.

Gideon remained silent. He had conflicting thoughts about this. He could tell that Eve was having a hard time convincing herself.

’She is lying to me and to herself. I don’t think she really wants to hurt Alaric. Otherwise, she won’t be crying and feeling miserable like this.’

"Alright. I’ll help you. How do you plan to take revenge against them?"

Since the start, Gideon had always become her revenge partner.

"I’m going to conquer Kingdom Averion using Zephyra’s army," Eve boldly declared.

Gideon was at a loss for words. ’Damn it. This woman is so bold. She has no fear.’

"Fine. I’ll help you achieve that," Gideon said meaningfully. "I just hope you won’t change your mind in the end."

"I’ve made up my mind. I want revenge, and I won’t stop until I get the justice my mother deserves." Eve’s hatred was blinding her judgment.

Gideon smiled and nodded. "I understand, Princess. I promise... I will always be on your side."

"Thank you, Gideon..."

Eve didn’t share all the details about her mother’s death because she was still having a hard time talking about it.

After talking to Gideon, Eve tried to go back to sleep. This time she felt at ease after sharing her burden with Gideon. This was what she badly wanted right now– Revenge.

As Eve drifted off to sleep, Gideon stepped out of the carriage. He informed Alaric that Eve was just fine.

Alaric wanted to see her. But he was afraid that Eve was going to kick him out again once she woke up. In the end, he just focused on his guarding duty.

On the other hand, Gideon went to an isolated area as he tried to send a message using his messenger bird.

Since Princess Eve requested his support, Gideon had decided to help her achieve her goal. He would go all out to provide her with the support she needed.

’It’s time to choose my side... and I chose her.’ Gideon thought, his lips curling up into a satisfied smile.
