The Hero's Forsaken Princess
Chapter 125: Another Scheme

Chapter 125: Another Scheme

After calming down, Princess Aliyah went to the drawing room to meet Duke Ravenmoor and General Ravenmoor. The two brothers had waited for her.

"Father, Uncle..." Princess Aliyah politely greeted her in-laws.

"My husband is gone... It’s my fault for not being able to stop him. I never imagined he would take his own life. I didn’t know that he was suffering emotionally and mentally."

Duke Ravenmoor assisted Princess Aliyah to sit down. "This is not your fault, Your Highness."

The three of them sat down and started to talk.

"Your Highness, I know you are also having a hard time. You suddenly became a widow. And you are too young. However, we are here to ask you to clarify some things. Look at this." General Victor Ravenmoor handed the suicide note to Princess Aliyah.

Aliyah froze for a moment as she read Gavin’s suicide note.

[ I committed a great sin to my wife. I only deserve death. ]

"Do you know what great sin my nephew is referring to? Please, your Highness. Tell us what you know. So that our family will have peace of mind to accept my nephew’s death." General Ravenmoor was afraid that his nephew had offended Princess Aliyah before his death. It might be a problem for the Ravenmoor Clan.

Confronted by General Ravenmoor’s question, Princess Aliyah crumpled the suicide note in her hand as she began to sob.

Duke Ravenmoor and General Ravenmoor exchanged worried glances with one another. They didn’t know how they would comfort Princess Aliyah.

"Since it has come into this, I have no choice but to tell you the truth," Aliyah said in a serious tone as she wiped her tears.

"My husband has been unfaithful to me. He fell in love with my sister, Princess Eve. Father, do you still remember when Gavin requested you one year ago? He told you that he wanted to marry Eve, not me. That is the crime he is referring to in his letter."

General Ravenmoor and Duke Ravenmoor were dumbfounded upon hearing that. Princess Eve was Alaric’s wife.

"Did my son... have an affair with Princess Eve?" Duke Ravenmoor asked Princess Aliyah in his trembling voice.

There was a great consequence for his unfaithfulness. This would become a big scandal if ever Princess Aliyah revealed this to King Solomon and Queen Amara.

"Yes. I caught them meeting up in an Inn, near the Stormholt Manor. I argued with him. But since I love Gavin, I never told this to my parents. I decided to keep this a secret from them," Princess Aliyah lied. She wanted to blame Eve for Gavin’s death.

Duke Ravenmoor and General Ravenmoor didn’t know what to say upon hearing that. They believed her words because Gavin’s father was aware that his son was obsessed with Princess Eve.

They also knew that Gavin tried to protect Eve and defended her when she was supposed to receive fifty floggings as her punishment before. There was no way Princess Aliyah would lie about this.

"Your Highness... we are grateful to your mercy and benevolent heart. Despite Gavin’s unfaithfulness, you still protected him and didn’t disclose his affair with your sister." General Ravenmoor bowed his head as he expressed his gratitude to the Second Princess.

Aliyah smiled inwardly because the two old men didn’t doubt her words.

"I think General Alaric had discovered the truth. Someone told me that Alaric attacked and threatened Gavin in the Royal Armory, telling him to stay away from his wife."

"What?! That bastard attacked my nephew!" General Ravenmoor snarled, his resentment toward Alaric intensified further.

"How dare he! It was his wife who seduced my son!" Duke Ravenmoor blurted out through his gritted teeth.

Princess Aliyah tried her best to conceal her smile. She succeeded in stirring a discord between the Ravenmoor Clan and Alaric. This was her way of getting even with Eve.

’My unfaithful husband is dead... now let’s see what will happen to you and your husband once you leave Kingdom Averion. The Ravenmoor Clan will not spare your lives. Gavin is a precious son of the Ravenmoor.’

"Thank you, your Highness, for letting us know the truth. I swear, the Ravenmoor Clan will always be here to support you," Duke Ravenmoor said earnestly as he kneeled before her.

"You don’t have to thank me. Gavin is the love of my life. I can forgive him. But I can’t accept that he chose to end his life instead of starting anew." Princess Aliyah burst into tears once more.

Gavin’s father and his uncle sympathized with her. They admired the way Princess Aliyah remained in love with Gavin despite his faithfulness.

They felt grateful to her because Princess Aliyah had protected the Ravenmoor Clan by keeping her silence about Gavin’s affair.

And now, their hatred was directed at Alaric and Eve. They thought they were the main reason why Gavin decided to end his life.

After talking to Princess Aliyah, Duke Ravenmoor and General Ravenmoor left her pavilion.

"What do you plan to do now, Brother?" General Ravenmoor asked the Duke.

"I want revenge... I want them dead!" Duke Ravenmoor responded in his stern cold voice.

General Ravenmoor turned to face his brother, holding his shoulders. "Don’t worry, Brother. I will avenge my nephew’s death. Leave this to me."

Duke Ravenmoor nodded. Then he stared at his brother intently. "How will you kill those two? You need to be careful. Our whole clan will be executed once your men attack them. General Alaric is a strong warrior."

General Ravenmoor chuckled. "There is a way to kill them without using my men. Alaric is going to Kingdom Zephyra for his mission. He is bringing his wife with him. I’m not the one killing them... it’s King Zaraki!"

"What do you plan to do?" Duke Ravenmoor asked him curiously.

"I will leak the assassination plan. I will send it anonymously to King Zaraki so that they will corner Alaric’s group. Alaric will fail his mission and they will die in King Zaraki’s hand."

"That’s a great plan, Brother! I hope this is enough to deal with Alaric and Princess Eve."
