The people in the slum were amazed by Princess Eve’s determination. She was truly committed to doing everything to help them.

She even offered them free medical consultations. They couldn’t afford to pay a doctor. And this princess was willing to treat their illnesses for free.

’I didn’t know that she has such a broad knowledge of medicine. She is indeed someone who is very useful. She has a lot of skills.’ Crown Prince Cassian found her more intriguing.

’She is no ordinary princess. No wonder she is the woman in Sylvana’s vision,’ he added in his thoughts.

Meanwhile, Alaric and the members of the 5th Battalion appreciated Princess Eve more. Her genuine concern for these people had touched their hearts. They would do everything to assist Princess Eve.

"A few days ago, Alaric and I won the Royal Hunt Competition. Because of that, King Solomon granted us one wish. As part of my reward, I asked him to grant all the members of the 5th Battalion two months vacation." Eve revealed it to everyone.

Alaric and Randolf’s group looked at her with a questioning gaze. Why did Princess Eve ask for that?

"Within two months, the members of the 5th Battalion can help us rebuild our dilapidated houses. King Solomon also provided me with enough gold coins that I can use to buy materials that we need for the construction of your houses!"

With Eve’s last remarks, the people started to cheer and rejoice. They were so happy to hear that piece of good news.

"Our third princess is so kind. She chose to spend her reward on us!"

"We will promise not to disappoint you, Princess! We will help you!"

"Let’s rebuild this slum and transform it into something better! You have our support, Princess Eve."

"We can’t thank you enough for this."

The crowd started to kneel in front of her.

"Please, don’t kneel. Just stand up. You don’t have to do this. I’m just doing my job. As a princess of this kingdom, I have the obligation to help my subjects," Eve said, urging them to stand up.

"You’ve been neglected for so long. Please forgive me... and my royal family for not doing something for all of you." Eve bowed her head as she apologized to the people living in the slum.

Everyone was dumbfounded. Eve was very humble and generous. They had the urge to protect and follow this princess, not wanting to disappoint her.

"Princess Eve... you don’t have to apologize to us." The crowd said in unison.

Eve raised her head, putting on a faint smile. She slowly approached the group of thieves who were standing behind Dillon and Michael.

The group of thieves couldn’t look at her because they were ashamed of themselves. They committed a lot of crimes just to survive.

"I hope it’s not too late for you to change," Eve talked to them tenderly.

Some of the thieves started to cry. "Forgive us, Princess. We did a lot of bad things... because we had no choice. We aren’t strong enough to become a warrior or a knight. We can only steal to survive. If we don’t steal from people, we can’t fill our stomachs. Our family will die from hunger."

Eve patted their shoulders one after another and said, "I didn’t have the right to judge you. I understand. You suffered a lot because we failed to help you. But don’t worry. Alaric and I are here... along with the members of the 5th Battalion. For us, the people in this slum are part of our family. We want to protect our families!"

Eve was really good at her words. She could easily sway them and make them trust her. She had the power to charm people with her sincerity.

’Damn it. I can finally understand why I really need this woman by my side. It’s not only because of her beast-taming skill but also because of her greatest power to charm people and make them loyal to her.’ Crown Prince Cassian thought, grinning from ear to ear.

"We believe you, Princess. We trust you! Just tell us what we need to do. We will obey you!"

"Yes! We will do anything you say!"

The crowd expressed their full support for Eve.

Eve thanked everyone for their trust. She continued sharing her plans with them. She wanted to address the poor sanitation and hygiene so that she could prevent people from getting sick.

She would rebuild the slum by reconstructing and repairing the old buildings and houses with the help of the members of the 5th Battalion. All expenses for the labor and materials would be shouldered by her.

She would also give emphasis on children’s basic education– reading, writing, and numerical literacy. For the long-term plan, she wanted to teach the people in the slum how to have a source of livelihood such as farming, planting vegetables, and making some crafts that could be sold to the town center market and the kingdom’s capital.

Aside from construction and repair, the members of the 5th Battalion were also tasked to train young people who had the potential to become warriors and knights.

Eve assigned the former thieves and robbers to be the slum warriors who would maintain the peace and order in the slum. They gladly accepted the important role and promised to keep everyone safe in the vicinity of the slum.

They also apologized to Win, the adventurer whom they beat up earlier.

And lastly, Eve started to check everyone who was ill. She made sure to find a cure for their illnesses. She got busy making medicines for them. Alaric and Crown Prince Cassian assisted her in the preparations.

On the same day, they started the clean-up drive. The other members of the 5th Battalion also arrived in the afternoon. They were headed by Caleb. They brought the materials they needed for the house repairs and reconstructions.

Everyone got busy the whole day. Prince Cassian returned to the palace after doing his part. And just like what she said, Eve had stayed in the slum, visiting Alaric’s old house.
