The Hero's Forsaken Princess -
Chapter 107: Beg For Forgiveness
Chapter 107: Beg For Forgiveness
The strategic planning was still ongoing in the Command Hall when suddenly, a royal knight from Eldara barged in to report something to Crown Prince Cassian.
"Crown Prince! Crown Prince! A group of knights headed by General Alaric entered Princess Thalia’s pavilion, attacking my comrades. They want to take Princess Thalia!"
Everyone in the Command Hall was surprised upon hearing that.
"General Alaric did that? Has he gone mad?!" General Ravenmoor slammed his fists on his table.
"Why is he making such a ruckus?! Disrespecting our honored guests from our allied kingdom?!" The Chancellor also spoke up.
"Even though he became our kingdom’s hero, he must behave appropriately! This is an abuse of authority and power! Please punish him, Your Majesty!" General Ravenmoor asked, turning to King Solomon.
Chancellor Igrin of Eldara didn’t waste his time as he proceeded to Thalia’s quarters. Crown Prince Cassian had no choice but to see what was happening.
It was so unlikely for Alaric to suddenly attack the knights from Eldara without any valid reason.
King Solomon dismissed the meeting instantly and went to check on them. The four generals escorted him.
Upon arriving at the pavilion, the clashing of swords between the two parties had finally stopped. However, Alaric demanded Princess Thalia to turn herself in.
"What’s going on here, General Alaric? Why did you start a fight?" King Solomon asked Alaric in his authoritative voice.
Eldara’s knights were utterly defeated by Alaric alone. His knights just stood behind him while the royal knights of Eldara were lying on the ground.
Only Avan, the Captain of royal knights, remained standing, guarding Princess Thalia. Chancellor Igrin ran toward them, worrying about Thalia’s safety.
Meanwhile, Crown Prince Cassian just watched Alaric silently, waiting for his response.
"I am here to arrest Princess Thalia for her crime," Alaric declared in his stern voice.
General Ravenmoor was displeased by Alaric’s rude behavior.
"Crime? Are you serious? What crime did she commit?" General Ravenmoot spat back at him.
King Solomon also frowned in displeasure. He didn’t expect Alaric to accuse the Princess of Eldara.
Alaric glanced at Thalia sharply before answering their question.
"The bandits who tried to kidnap and kill Princess Eve were hired by Princess Thalia! The culprits have confessed her involvement."
Princess Thalia stood frozen in her spot when she heard that. Her body trembled from anxiousness. She was shocked beyond belief. She didn’t expect that Alaric would investigate the incident. He even managed to capture those men.
’Damn it! How could this happen? I thought those men left Kingdom Averion. How and where did he catch them?’ Thalia gritted her teeth.
Meanwhile, Crown Prince Cassian’s expression turned grim. ’My foolish sister tried to harm Princess Evelina! If she succeeded, my plan of conquering kingdoms would be ruined!’
’She even let Alaric unfold her crime!’ He was upset with her.
On the other hand, King Solomon and the other generals couldn’t believe what Alaric had just said.
"Did you verify their statements? What if they are just trying to slander Princess Thalia, framing her for this crime?" General Ravenmoor spoke again, defending Princess Thalia.
"Yes. I confirmed it. We have witnesses and evidence," Alaric stated confidently.
"Is he foolish? His actions might create a rift between the two kingdoms! What will happen to our alliance?" General Blackridge whispered to his comrades, expressing his concern.
"Let them in!" Alaric commanded his knights.
A few seconds later, a group of knights entered the pavilion, escorting the prisoners.
"These are the four hired men who pretended to be bandits. They all confessed that they met Princess Thalia in the town center. They provided me with proof of their negotiation."
King Solomon was put in a dilemma. He didn’t know how he would handle this without destroying the alliance between the two kingdoms.
’What should I do? Princess Thalia tried to kill my daughter. But if I punish her, our alliance with Kingdom Eldara might be ruined.’ King Solomon was weighing things in his mind. What was more important to him?
"Don’t jump to conclusions, General Stormholt. What if this is just a scheme by our enemies?" General Drakemont wanted to pacify Alaric. He could feel that the young general was furious.
"This is not a misunderstanding. She has a motive to kill my wife. Even though she is a princess from our allied kingdom, I won’t tolerate this. She must be punished for her crime!" Alaric said firmly. There was no room for negotiation. He promised Eve to give Annie justice.
General Alaric wouldn’t back down. He would use his power to punish the people who tried to harm Eve.
"Sheath your sword now, General Alaric. You have to calm down. Let’s talk this out peacefully." General Drakemont tried to convince him.
General Ravenmoor and General Blackridge drew their swords as they stepped forward, guarding Princess Thalia against Alaric and his knights.
Alaric narrowed his eyes while clenching his jaw. "You chose to side with and protect the princess of another kingdom who tried to harm the princess of your own kingdom. Princess Eve doesn’t deserve this."
"Are you afraid to punish her just because of our alliance? Attacking Princess Eve is already a breach of our kingdom’s alliance," he added, ridiculing the two generals.
"This is for the benefit of everyone! Why are you being so selfish, General Stormholt? Princess Eve is alive and well. Why are you making things complicated? Can’t you see the consequences of your actions?!" General Ravenmoor continued to argue with Alaric.
"Do you intend to pardon her crime and let her go just because Princess Eve is alive? Would you even take action if my wife died?" Alaric questioned him.
"You should blame yourself for that! You seduced Princess Thalia. An innocent princess just fell in love with you, that’s why she did that!" General Ravenmoor retorted. He just grabbed this chance to discredit Alaric. "Rumors about you and Princess Thalia’s affair spread in the palace."
"ENOUGH!" King Solomon finally intervened. His generals were fighting over this matter. It was something they couldn’t resolve if they continued to argue.
"Let’s get inside the pavilion. Let’s talk this out first," King Solomon said in his authoritative voice.
At this moment, Crown Prince Cassian slowly approached his sister. And suddenly...
Smack!
Everyone was shocked when Crown Prince Cassian hit Princess Thalia in front of them. The sound of impact echoed in the area.
Princess Thalia’s cheek reddened instantly from the hard impact. Her lips also bled.
Thalia covered the spot where Prince Cassian hit her, her eyes tearing up from both pain and humiliation. Her brother didn’t hesitate to slap her face. She was mad at him.
Smack!
Crown Prince Cassian gave her another slap. He hit her other cheek. Everyone fell silent. No one from Kingdom Eldara tried to defend or protect her. She was at her brother’s mercy.
"You have to apologize to Princess Evelina. Accept your mistakes. Beg her to spare your life and promise her that you will never do it again," Crown Prince Cassian commanded Princess Thalia with a threatening gaze. He wouldn’t allow her to defy him.
Meanwhile, Princess Thalia was rendered speechless.
’What did he just say? He wants me to apologize to that woman?! He wants me to beg?! No way!’
Thalia was about to object when Crown Prince Cassian hit her once more. He grabbed her chin, pinching her jaw tightly.
"You create this mess so don’t expect me to side with you and to fix this for you. Just do it. Don’t you dare defy me," he warned her.
Princess Thalia could only lower her head. She was upset with her brother. ’I hate him! He sided with Eve. He humiliated me again because of that woman. I’m his sister! How could he do this to me?’
Crown Prince Cassian released Thalia from his tight grip. Then he faced King Solomon and Alaric.
"I will discipline her. Rest assured that this won’t affect our alliance. Furthermore, I will make sure that this won’t happen again. If you want to punish her, I won’t stop you."
Anger and bitterness surged up in Thalia’s heart as she listened to her brother’s words. With determination in her eyes, she turned to Chancellor Igrin and whispered, "Chancellor, I’m accepting your offer now. Help me dethrone this bastard!"
Chancellor Igrin smiled triumphantly upon hearing that. "I will help you, Princess. We won’t disappoint you!"
It did not take long before Princess Eve showed up in the pavilion. She was summoned by King Solomon.
Eve didn’t expect to see many high-ranking officials in the pavilion. She was clueless about Alaric trying to arrest Princess Thalia. Earlier, he suddenly went to the palace after getting the confession of the bandits.
Eve was still trying to figure out the reason she was summoned there when Thalia made her way to her.
To her surprise, Thalia suddenly dropped to her knees in front of her.
"Princess Eve. I committed a great sin against you. Please forgive me. Spare my life. I will never do it again. I promise."
