The Growth of a Titan -
Chapter 309- Namgung Yuji
Chapter 309: Chapter 309- Namgung Yuji
On the staircase leading up the Huashan Sect Mountain, a dashing young man wearing luxurious white robes while carrying a sword on his waist was frantically spinning his head from left to right to observe the blooming plum blossom trees on either side of the path.
"Wah! I can’t help but be captivated every time I make my way up here. Why can’t our Clan have these beautiful plum blossom trees?"
An expressionless wrinkled-faced old man who had a head full of gray hair and was walking behind the youth responded.
"Young Master, the plum blossom trees are a representation of the Huashan Sect. It’s not that we can’t acquire a few of these trees, but having a representation of another power in our Clan would send a bad message to the masses."
The dashing young man hearing this huffed and said.
"What kind of bad message would that send? That our Namgung Clan has a good eye for beautiful things? Flowers are just flowers, why make a mountain out of a hill? I’ve decided! Request someone from the Clan to get a few plum blossom seeds from the Huashan Sect!"
This young man was the Young Master of the Namgung Clan, Namgung Yuji. The old man behind him was a powerful servant in the Spiritual Realm that his Clan assigned to protect him when he ventured out for experience. His name was Ma-Sung.
Ma-Sung smiled bitterly when he heard Yuji’s words, but he didn’t dare refuse his orders. He nodded before taking out a jade slip and sending the message back to the Clan.
Yuji smiled as he hummed a tune while scaling the steps.
It wouldn’t be a problem for them to fly to their destination than waste time walking up this long staircase. However, they were respectful guests by following the Huashan Sect’s rules.
After a few minutes, the smiling Yuji and expressionless Ma-Sung were nearing their destination. It was the Huashan Sect’s training grounds.
It was quite early in the morning, so the surroundings were currently devoid of people.
As the two walked across the large clearing, they quickly made their way to the steps leading to the main training hall.
However, as they walked up the steps, a figure opened the door and walked out.
When the figure saw Yuji and Ma-Sung, he smiled and said.
"Young Master Yuji, you’re back again."
Yuji’s eyes lit up and he immediately cupped his fist and said cheerfully with a bow.
"Big Brother Kwang-Ho, I’ve been learning a lot from Brother Byeong-Ho over the past few months, how can I not return time and time again?"
Kwang-Ho chuckled in amusement when he heard that. This Yuji did not act like the Young Master of the Namgung Clan, even with Kwang-Ho’s status, someone like Yuji did not need to greet him with a bow.
Ma-Sung brows furrowed slightly, but unlike his reaction the first time this happened, this time his reaction was more reserved.
"My brother is inside; I’ll leave you two to it."
Kwang-Ho said as he turned and walked off.
Yuji watched as he left with pure admiration in his eyes. Only after Kwang-Ho’s figure completely disappeared around a corner did he release a sigh and say.
"Now that is a true Sword Cultivator! Big Brother Kwang-Ho was known as the Huashan Sect’s Gentle Plum Blossom Swordsman. He along with the Kunlun Sect’s Lin Yoon-Min, were the best sword geniuses in their generation."
Yuji sighed once more, but this was not the first time he had reacted like this. Every time he happened to see Kwang-Ho when he came here, he would sigh and praise him.
Each time he did, Ma-Sung couldn’t help but sigh in exasperation. This time wasn’t any different.
"*Sigh*... Young Master, you can never say things like this in public in the future. If news were to get out that the Young Master of the Namgung Clan is praising Elder Kwang-Ho, people would think you’re praising the Huashan Sect’s Sword Arts."
"Huh? But isn’t that what I’m doing?"
Yuji said as he turned to Ma-Sung, and Ma-Sung couldn’t stop his face from changing expressions.
"Young Master, why do you admire Elder Kwang-Ho so much? During his generation, our Namgung Clan had no shortage of sword geniuses that could challenge him."
Yuji suddenly snorted and said.
"You mean those sheltered bastards? How can those fools who only know how to stay cooped up in the Clan and cultivate be compared to someone like Big Brother Kwang-Ho who went out into Jianghu to sharpen his sword?"
Ma-Sung face paled slightly as he hurriedly said.
"Young Master, keep your voice down, you really can’t say stuff like this. It would reflect badly on our Namgung Clan."
"Bah! I say it like how I see it! Our Clan has gone soft, we no longer make it a requirement for the younger generation to leave the Clan to gain experience. If things continue like this then the Namgung Clan might as well be disbanded!"
Ma-Sung’s face became ashen, and he pleaded for his Young Master to lower his voice.
Yuji waved him off.
"A real Swordsman is someone who roams the world with a single sword in hand. Any obstacles that appears in front of them should be cut down with resolution. Be it Gods or Demons!"
As Yuji said this, a longing expression appeared on his face. However, as if remembering something, he scowled and said.
"But here I am being protected like I’m some fragile flower."
"Young Master, it can’t be helped. You are the future Clan Head. If anything were to happen to you then the Namgung Clan would suffer immensely! The same goes for those youths you look down on, they are the future of the Clan so they must be protected."
Yuji snorted for the umpteenth time before saying ominously with squinted eyes.
"Just you wait until I become the Clan Head. A river of blood will flow in the Clan, and the weak will be weeded out. I have no need for any cowardly swordsmen or swordswomen in my Namgung Clan."
When Ma-Sun heard that his face became as white as a ghost and his body trembled from trepidation.
Yuji was about to turn and enter the training hall, but Ma-Sung suddenly rushed after him while yelling.
"Young Master you can’t! You really can’t do such a thing!"
Ma-Sung felt like his ass was sitting on pins and needles, he looked at his Young Master with a pleading expression.
Yuji paused, and after thinking for a moment he huffed and said.
"Fine, I won’t kill them myself, but once I become the Clan Head, they can forget about staying cooped up in the Clan like some house rat. If the Clan is going to support them then they must go out and serve the Clan by showing that we can produce real Sword Cultivators!"
Ma-Sung sighed in relief and whipped the cold sweat that was forming on his brows. His Young Master was extremely obstinate and even the Clan Head have a hard time changing his mind once he decided to do something.
Thankfully, it seems his words just now were said halfheartedly.
However, despite Yuji changing his mind on this, his next words still made Ma-Sung nervous.
"Young Master, there is a reason why the Clan assigned me as your protector. Even though no one would dare lay a finger on you, we can’t be negligent. I need to protect you at all times."
Yuji who started walking toward the doors of the training hall suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.
A terrifying Sword Aura suddenly began radiating from his body.
Yuji tilted his head and looked back at Ma-Sung with a calm expression.
However, Ma-Sung suddenly took a step back and a cold chill went down his spine.
"Ma-Sung, are you saying that I’m so weak that I need your protection? What can a mere Spiritual Realm cultivator in the Sky Expanse Realm at the end of their life like you do that I can’t?"
