Chapter 278: Chapter 278- Let’s do It, Let’s Run Away
Mar-Du’s expression was calm, but anyone could tell he was angry, furious even.
It was rare for Mar-Du to get angry at any of his children, he was a doting father. However, his children had never disobeyed him as much as Mar-Yue was doing now.
Mar-Du’s gaze landed on Mar-Yue, and he spoke.
"Mar-Yue, how can you continue being with him after hearing what I had just said? I’ve been patient this entire time, but my patience is running thin. Enough with this rebellious phase."
Mar-Yue had stopped by the tent’s exit, and after hearing her father she spun around. Her face was filled with a mix of anger and sadness.
She stared her father in the eyes without blinking and spoke.
"All my life I had never wanted anything. Even though I was isolated for seven years since birth, I was told it was for the Tribe, so I accepted it. Even when brother was set to send away to the Martial Alliance Academy and I beg you to make him stay, you said it was for the Tribe, so I accepted it."
Mar-Dule who had his head down, had a complicated expression on his face. The most prominent emotion was sadness.
No one knew just how close the two were. Even though Mar-Yue acted like the older twin, for a majority of the time after Mar-Yue was out of isolation he was the one who helped built up her confidence to interact with people.
When he left a year ago, it was like Mar-Yue had her crotch kicked away from under her by an oblivious kid. And it took a lot for Mar-Dule to leave as well.
But it’s during that time did everyone realized how close they were, by how adamant Mar-Yue rejected Mar-Dule leaving.
So, it was safe to say, Mar-Dule’s words had stirred up guilt in Mar-Du’s consciousness.
As Mar-Yue spoke, her voice was unnaturally calm, but tears suddenly rolled down her cheeks.
"Father, I never wanted anything, and I have never once questioned you when you said what you do is for the Tribe. However, I want to love who I love, and I can’t accept what you’re doing. How can being with Sol be so wrong? If it’s about his bloodline, then so what?"
Mar-Du forced down the guilt rising in his heart and then said sternly.
"Mar-Yue, if you wanted to be with anyone, absolutely anyone in this world, then I would agree. But Sol is the one person you can’t be with, his bloodline is far too strange."
Mar-Yue clenched her fists and she slightly yelled.
"But you allowed Eldest Sister to marry into the Miura Clan, so why do you object to my relationship with Sol!"
"BECAUSE...!"
Mar-Du went to yell, but he suddenly stopped himself before he released a frustrated sigh while covering his face with his hand.
"Everyone, leave."
Mar-Du said, and without a word, Mar-Yue’s sisters got up and left. They glanced at their little sister with complex expressions, but it wasn’t their place to give her advice.
However, Mar-El stopped and placed a hand on Mar-Yue’s shoulder.
Mar-Yue was close to all of her siblings, but Mar-El was closer in age to her so she felt a slightly closer bond with her as the two could relate on a lot of things.
"No matter the outcome, we sister will accept your decision. All of us will."
Mar-Yue didn’t respond, but she released a genuine smile filled with appreciation.
After that, Mar-El left the tent.
The only ones now left in the room were Mar-Tala, Sol, Mar-Yue, and Mar-Dule.
Mar-Dule hadn’t left, he felt that he somewhat knew what his father was going to say but didn’t want others to hear.
After sighing once more, Mar-Du looked at Mar-Yue and spoke.
"Do you know that Mar-Tala’s son doesn’t harbor a single trace of the Giant Race’s bloodline? The Miura Clan’s bloodline completely whipped away any trace of it in his body."
Mar-Yue looked shocked when she heard that, and she glanced at Mar-Tala who nodded.
"Little Sister, it’s true. I’ve checked both Mar-Amato and his sister, but they didn’t have the Giant Race bloodline. I do not regret my decision in marrying my husband, but if I had known this would happen, I might not have married into the Miura Clan. Perhaps if I hadn’t, you wouldn’t have to be in this position I was once in."
Mar-Tala, played with her fingers, as she looked at Mar-Yue with an apologetic expression.
Mar-Du suddenly added.
"Mar-Tala married into a Branch Family of the Miura Clan, but even the Miura Clan’s bloodline from a Branch Family was able to force out the Giant Race bloodline that could have passed on to Mar-Amato. Not only that, despite being my grandson, he’s only considered a part of our Barbarin Race in name. Everything about him is Sakrian, even if he wanted to cultivate using our Barbarian Race’s methods, he lacks the physique to do so. Mar-Yue, in the future this is what’s going to happen if you were ever to have children."
’So that’s why he doesn’t want you to be together with his daughter. He’s afraid your bloodline will destroy the Giant Race bloodline.’
Sol heard Abud’s voice in his mind. But Sol had figured out this was the reason already.
"Dad, I understand your concern, but that might not happen. My Giant Race bloodline will be stronger than Eldest Sister’s own."
Mar-Du shook his head.
"As I’ve said, if it was anyone else, I would have allowed it, even if the person was someone from the direct bloodline of the Miura Clan. However, Sol’s bloodline is far more powerful than the Miura Clan’s own. Even if you awaken the Giant Race bloodline fully, his bloodline will devour it."
Mar-Tala’s eyes slightly widen as she turned to look at Sol.
Mar-Du looked at Sol as well and then said.
"It’s similar to our Giant Race bloodline, but it has the domineering will of a hegemon. It will never co-exist with another bloodline unless it’s of an equal strength."
Mar-Du’s eyes narrowed.
"I had initially thought it’s similarity was due to it being a mutation of our Giant Race bloodline but it’s not. I’m not sure who you are, or who your parents were but that bloodline is not something from this world. I have never heard of it before, either in Jianghu or the Land of Shadows. So, if you aren’t from our Barbarian Race or the other two Races, are you from the Western Region? Also, who taught you how to cultivate like our Barbarian Race? That strange Runic Physique Technique I sense from you is beyond strange."
Mar-Dule chose to spoke up at this moment.
"Dad, Sol isn’t from the Western Region. And his Master, he’s actually-"
Sol suddenly placed his on Mar-Dule’s shoulder.
Mar-Dule turned to see Sol shake his head, so he clamped his mouth shut.
Mar-Du seeing this frowned.
"Who is your Master?"
Mar-Du turned to his son, but Mar-Dule forced a smile and said nothing.
Mar-Du suddenly released a depressed sighed.
"What is this? Have I lost all respect from my two youngest children?"
Mar-Yue spoke up.
"Father, if Sol doesn’t want to say, then he shouldn’t have to. And is a bad thing if Sol has such a strong bloodline?"
Mar-Du turned to look at Mar-Yue.
"Mar-Yue, it’s not a matter which is stronger, Sol’s bloodline or our Giant Race bloodline. It’s the fact that our Giant Race will be lost forever. As the Tribe Leader, if I were to allow that to happen it would be an unforgivable sin."
Mar-Yue suddenly whipped her eyes and spoke.
"Sol, let’s go."
She then turned and left the tent.
"Mar-Yue."
Mar-Du called for her, but she ignored his call.
Sol slowly got up and Mar-Du glanced towards him but said nothing.
Sol met his gaze, but he only scratched his cheek as he said.
"Senior Mar-Du, Mar-Yue’s decision is my decision."
Mar-Du’s expression didn’t change, but his eyes did narrow.
Sol seeing this didn’t waste time and he turned to leave the tent.
After he left, Mar-Du sighed and slumped over in his chair.
"If that brat was not connected to so many powerful people, I would have likely killed him already."
Mar-Dule’s expression changed.
"Dad, you don’t mean that do you?"
Mar-Du glanced at his son with a slack expression, before he sighed.
"No, it would be a waste to kill such a talented child. I wouldn’t even be surprised if I was struck by Heavenly Lightening as a punishment if I did."
Mar-Tala looked at Mar-Du and spoke.
"Father, what are you going to do now?"
"Huh? What can I do if that girl refuses to heed my request? As the Tribe Leader I oppose their relationship, but as a Father I refuse to force my daughter to do something she is unwilling to."
"But, what about everything you just said? Will the Giant Race bloodline be lost forever?"
Mar-Dule asked, and Mar-Du stayed silent for a moment then said.
"Perhaps, but if this is the will of the Heavens then so be it."
Outside, Sol was walking behind Mar-Yue as they silently head back towards her tent.
However, Mar-Yue suddenly stopped in her tracks before she turned around and said.
"Let’s do it, let’s run away."
Sol was taken aback by that, but before he could say anything, Mar-Yue grabbed his hand and began pulling him in the direction that led of the Tribe.
