The Growth of a Titan -
Chapter 261- Horny Vultures
Chapter 261: Chapter 261- Horny Vultures
It’s been four days and it was already the morning of the Festival.
For the past four days, the Tribe was split into two groups. The first group was responsible for setting up decorations, as well as organizing the venue.
As of now, there were hundreds of long tables set up at the center of the Tribe.
For the second group, they were responsible for preparing the food.
Some would skin the sandworms while others would cook the meat. However, these two activities were done several hundred feet away from each other.
As it turns out, the gap between killing a sandworm and eating it was a test of one’s nose.
This food in particular was for the adults and children that didn’t participate in the Hunt.
It was a written rule for Tribe members who had hunted a sizable amount of sandworms to give up a few of their catch.
It did not diminish their accomplishments, instead being the one to provide food for the festival was seen as an honor.
At the center of the Tribe, a few youths were seen carrying large tables and chairs. There were still a few things to do until preparations were finished for the Festival.
At one of the tables, Mar-Yue was helping Mar-El set up the plates, bowls, and utensils. Though it was unlikely they were ever going to be used.
While taking another plate from Mar-El, Mar-Yue heard loud laughter behind her. She instinctively glanced over and saw that it was coming from a group of girls.
She was about to look away but paused when she saw Sol in the middle of this group.
He was smiling like usual as he spoke with them, though it looked slightly forced. But no one noticed since he was always smiling.
Suddenly, one of the girls playfully jumped onto Sol’s back.
Mar-Yue upon seeing this clenched her fist, causing the plate in her hand to shatter into fragmented pieces.
Mar-El paused and blinked when she witnessed this.
This wasn’t the first time Mar-Yue had seen this over the past four days, but those girls were getting more daring as time went on.
Probably because they realized no matter what they did, Sol would just keep smiling.
"If he’s uncomfortable then he should just say so. Why smile like that?"
Mar-El looked at her little sister before looking at Sol.
She then shook her head.
Mar-El had witnessed Mar-Yue as she slowly got more and more jealous of those girls.
As Mar-Yue was glaring at the group of girls, her vision was suddenly blocked by a rotund figure.
"Big Sis, good news!"
Mar-Dule yelled excitedly, but he suddenly had to shift his head to the side to dodge Mar-Yue’s fist aiming at his face.
"Damn fatty, get out of my way!"
Mar-Dule raised his hands and said.
"Calm down, I came here with good news."
"What good news?"
Mar-Dule smiled as he said.
"It turns out Eldest Sister will be able to make it to this month’s Festival!"
"Really?"
"Really?"
Both Mar-Yue and Mar-El said at the same time while excited expressions appeared on their faces.
"Yeah, she’s really coming. But not only that, it seems this Festival is special because everyone said they would be able to make it."
"Wow, it’s been a long time since we were all gathered together."
Mar-El said, and Mar-Dule nodded.
"I’ve visited the Steel Tribe, but I wasn’t able to meet second sister because she was too busy. Oh!"
As if remembering something, Mar-Dule turned to Mar-Yue and said.
"Father said he wanted to speak with you."
"Hm? Why?"
"I think it’s about your bloodline."
Mar-Yue’s expression changed.
"He-"
"I’m not going, tell him I’m busy preparing for the Festival."
Mar-Yue said cutting off Mar-Dule.
"You’re acting strange again. Father is really worried about you. Maybe you should g-"
Bang!
Mar-Yue’s leg suddenly lashed out and she kicked Mar-Dule in his ribs; which resulted in a cracking sound echoing out.
"Ugh..."
Mar-Dule groaned and clutched his side.
"Damn it, I just heal my other broken ribs."
"I said I’m busy, why are you being so pushy?"
Mar-Yue huffed before she turned to start fixing the table.
Mar-El remained silent as she handed her the plates. However, she turned to Mar-Dule and asked.
"How did the conversation go with your friend about his bloodline?"
Mar-Dule shook his head and then said.
"We weren’t able to give Sol the Deep Autumn Flower so Father chose not to ask about his bloodline until he did, it wouldn’t be a fair trade otherwise. That’s why he wanted to see you."
Mar-Dule cautiously looked at Mar-Yue. However, she turned and glared at him, so he flinched and decided to leave before more of his ribs were broken.
After Mar-Dule left, Mar-Yue went back to watching Sol. However, she saw that he was gone.
She clicked her tongue.
"If you’re so jealous why don’t you just talk to him?"
"Wah-Jealous? Of who? I’m not jealous... And besides, it turns out I make him uncomfortable."
Mar-Yue’s voice was barely above a whisper when she said that last sentence.
Mar-El smiled at Mar-Yue before saying.
"When has something like that ever stopped you? You must really like him for you to be so considerate of his feelings."
"Who would like that smiling idiot?"
Mar-Yue’s voice was still soft as she fiddled with the utensils on the table.
"But he did say he would give me some of the sandworms he hunted, but he hasn’t even come to see me once since then."
"Looks like he’s trying to go back on his word, you should confront him."
Mar-El said with a serious look on her face.
"I will! I won’t let him get away with this!"
Mar-Yue then stomped towards Sol’s tent.
Mar-El’s serious expression turned into an amused smile as she watched Mar-Yue hurry off. She then turned and resumed fixing the table herself.
....
...
..
"Haha, what is he doing?"
"I can’t believe he’s using that."
"He’s so cute, it looks like he doesn’t know about the public bath."
A group of girls was huddled together at the entrance of a tent as they peeped inside.
Inside this tent, Sol was seated cross-legged next to his bed with his top off, exposing his chest and torso.
Next to him was a bucket full of water which he would dip into with a rag and wipe his forearm.
When he did, he heard the giggles from the girls outside and he couldn’t help but force a smile.
But when he heard about a public bath he blushed and lowered the rag.
’I didn’t know there was a bath.’
"What are you all doing?"
Sol turned to the outside when heard that voice.
The girls who were peeping on Sol, look behind them to see Mar-Yue standing over them with hands on her hips.
"This is the area for the male tents, why are you girls here? And you’re even peeping on someone, how would you feel if someone spied on you?"
"Oh, I wouldn’t mind if it was Sol."
"Yeah, he can spy on me any time."
"I wouldn’t mind if he entered my tent too."
The girls all giggled after this was said.
However, Mar-Yue’s expression changed when she heard those comments.
"What are you girls? Horny vultures? Go back and help with the preparations for the Festival."
