Chapter 258- Why Do You Smile So Much?
Chapter 258: Chapter 258- Why Do You Smile So Much?
"Sorry, did I scare you? But what about your bloodline? Have there been any changes? I haven’t checked since you’ve started cultivating."
Mar-Yue played it cool, and she shook her head before saying.
"Nothing has changed, Dad."
"Hm, okay."
The young man nodded, not doubting his daughter. He then turned to Sol and Yoon-Jae.
"And you must be my son’s friends."
Yoon-Jae cupped his fists, and Sol stood before doing the same.
However, the young man stopped them.
"No need to use Jianghu’s formalities while you’re here. It’s too complicated. Rather speak casually. And you can call me Mar-Du."
Yoon-Jae immediately wanted to smack his forehead when he heard that name.
No doubt this man had named his son by just putting a few letters at the end of his own name.
"Senior Mar-Du, I came here in hopes of getting the Deep Autumn Flower. It’s to help my friend who’s dying."
Mar-Du paused when he heard that, but before he could speak, the pit was suddenly filled with a cacophony of yells from the youths.
"HUNT!"
"HUNT!"
"HUNT!"
They were all chanting the word hunt.
Mar-Du glanced up to see that the sandstorm had passed. He then looked back down at Sol and said.
"Let’s discuss things after this is over. You can come by my tent."
Despite Sol’s unwillingness, he nodded in understanding.
Mar-Du’s figure then disappeared from the pit.
"What exactly is happening?"
Yoon-Jae asked as he looked around at the youths who were yelling. The more they yelled, the more their Battle Intent grew.
Mar-Dule formed a hand seal to remove the yellow barrier as he answered.
"Don’t you hear? It’s time for the Hunt to start."
Immediately after Mar-Dule removed the yellow barrier, the youths all leap out of the pit with loud war cries.
"Let’s go."
Mar-Dule said as he lept out of the hole.
Sol and Yoon-Jae followed behind him, and when they reached the surface they sort of understood what he meant by the Hunt.
All around, girls and boys alike were fighting against the sandworms in their transformations.
Mar-Yue by the side explained.
"The sandstorm happens a few times a month, and each time it does, it’s used as both a training exercise as well as a way to stock up on food. The adults and kids don’t participate since one is too old, and the other is too young."
"Wait, by ’stock up on food’ you don’t mean you’re going to eat these worms, do you?"
Yoon-Jae asked, and Mar-Dule rubbed his belly and answered.
"Don’t look down on those worms. They might be worms but they’re also Spirit Beasts, and any Spirit Beast’s meat is heavenly in flavor due to how they cultivate their fleshly bodies. The food you ate before are those worms."
"Ugh, thankfully I didn’t eat any."
Yoon-Jae said, but Sol’s reaction was to lick his lips.
"Really? I would have never guessed they would taste so good, it’s better than the food I had in Jianghu."
"Right? Everyone talks about how good we are at Runes, but they forget we have the best food between the three races in the Eastern Region. It might even be better then what they have in the Western Region as well."
Mar-Dule began boasting, but Mar-Yue said.
"If you just stand here talking, then you won’t get any."
Mar-Dule’s body jerked, and he suddenly dashed forward to join the chaotic battle without another word.
Seeing that Sol was still here, Mar-Yue turned to him and said.
"It’s done on a first come basis. If you want to eat then you have to work for it."
Sol hearing this asked.
"So it’s a competition to kill as many Spirit Beasts as possible?"
Mar-Yue nodded.
"That’s the reason why they wanted to keep you out of the pit. If Father had to save you from the sandstorm, you would have been disqualified from participating in the Hunt."
Sol’s eyes flashed, and a grin suddenly appeared on his face.
If one knew him well, they would know this smile was done out of pure spite.
Among the fierce battle between the miniature giants and sandworm Spirit Beasts.
Two burly youths chose to work together and defeat a relatively strong sandworm.
After pulling it out of the ground, it was collected into one of the burly youths’ storage bags.
"Hey, don’t you dare go back on our deal like last time, you hear me?"
The other youth said; obviously there had been some backstabbing from the youth tasked to collect the sandworms sometime before.
"Cousin, why are you so worried? I said I won’t shorten your share this time."
The youth being warned held up his hands as he reassured his cousin. However, when his cousin turned around to look for another sandworm, a sly grin could be seen on his face.
"Cousin, there’s a stronger sandworm over there, let’s hunt it quickly!"
The youth suddenly said.
The stronger the sandworm, the more delicious it’s meat would be.
"Hm, let’s go."
The two youths then charged at the sandworm that had just popped out of the ground.
However, before they could reach this sandworm, a terrifying red flashed that carried with it a scorching heat, shot past them to penetrate the sandworm’s head with a loud bang.
Without being able to release a last cry, the sandworm plopped dead onto the sand.
The two youths looked at the massive fire arrow embedded in the sandworm’s head in shock. They then turned to see where this arrow had came from, and they were further shocked.
The saw Sol lowing his massive golden bow with a smile on his face.
However, they could barely see Sol clearly through crowd since he was nearly three hundred meters away.
"That’s..."
One of the youths tried to say something, but was at a lost for words.
However, the youth who was task with collecting the sandworms had his eyes flash, and he moved towards the sandworm.
There was no way he would let this free meat go. Sol was so far away, there was no way he would be able to reach them in time!
But his attempt to grab the sandworm was fruitless. Abdu suddenly appeared on the sandworm’s head while licking his paw.
Looking up at the youth he said.
"Perhaps you shouldn’t have upset my Master."
Both Abdu and the sandworm then disappeared, leaving both youths frustrated and angry.
This scene happened all around the battlefield.
With Sol’s Heavenly Eyes and expert-level skills with the bow, he could effortlessly hunt the strongest sandworms that pop out of the ground without even moving from his position. And with Abdu to collect his spoils, it was a foolproof system to screw over these bullies with minimal effort.
After a while, Mar-Yue who was sitting next to Sol asked in amusement.
"Are you not going to leave any for them?"
"I would have if they hadn’t tried to stop me from participating. But it’s not like I’m hunting all of the Spirit Beasts, I’ll just hunt the ones that are more tasty."
Mar-Yue chuckled when she heard that.
"Aren’t you going to hunt any for yourself?"
Sol asked.
"Huh? Why would I when you’re hunting for the both of us? You’ll give me some right?"
Mar-Yue turned to look at Sol, who said.
"Haha, okay, I don’t mind sharing."
Mar-Yue saw Sol smiling and she couldn’t help but ask.
"Why do you smile so much?"
"Ah, I do?"
"Yes, you’re doing it right now."
Sol fired an arrow killing another sandworm.
"Is it weird?"
Sol then turned to look at Mar-Yue; he was still smiling.
Mar-Yue returned the smile as she shook her head.
"No, you look cute when you smile."
Mar-Yue’s hand twitched as she said that.
Sol expression faltered, but he returned the compliment before going back to hunting the sandworms. However, he took a few side steps that brought him closer to a bored-looking Yoon-Jae, while putting some distance between himself and Mar-Yue.
Just to be safe.
