Chapter 209: Chapter 209- The Power Of Spiritual Realm Cultivators
On the outskirts of Pearl City which was encapsulated by a large forest, an old man could be seen flying toward a valley between two mountains.
His flying speed was rushed and from the panic expression on his face, one would think he was late for a meeting.
And indeed he was.
This was the City Lord in disguise.
"Damn it!"
He cursed as he stopped abruptly in the air.
"How the hell am I supposed to know which valley to go to when there are so many fucking mountains in the area!"
The City Lord was only going on instinct.
If he had to capture a Spiritual Realm Elder of the Martial Alliance Academy, where would he do it?
He had been searching around and his sights had landed on this valley just up ahead, but he wasn’t really sure.
"Shit, I’ll just go. This has to be the area."
The City Lord continued flying towards the secluded valley.
That bastard Dae Han told him the location, but he had completely forgotten it.
Yesterday he was contacted by Dae Han who said he had a way to get him out of the City, but that required capturing Elder Hyun-Joo.
The City Lord was suspicious, but at this point, he was desperate so he agreed.
First, he was supposed to contact Elder Hyun-Joo secretly and claim he knew about some Celestial Stones or something, and that he would spread the information if she didn’t meet him at a secluded valley at a specific time.
However, he was so nervous about today that he drank until he blacked out. When he woke up it was already the next day and the time he was supposed to meet Elder Hyun-Joo had already passed.
"Damn it, it’s not my fault. Who would be stupid enough to agree with this ridiculous plan?"
As the City Lord flew closer to the valley, he realized something.
"Fuck, what was I supposed to say again? I was supposed to distract her or something, then... then."
The City Lord could not remember what he was supposed to say.
"Screw it, I’ll just come up with something. No matter what, it’s either I stay in this damn City and eventually get caught, or I gamble on this chance and get caught."
Any which way the City Lord looked at it, he was going to get caught and be killed for suspicion of conspiring with the Demonic Cult. He might as well get caught trying to escape.
The City Lord for once in his life felt the determination to risk his life, but his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by bone bone-chilling sensation running down his spine.
In front of him, a terrifying white arc filled with Sword Intent swiftly approached him.
"Eeek!"
The City Lord was frightened, and he hurriedly dodged to the side.
With a horrifying swoosh, the sword attack whizzed past him.
The City Lord stopped to observe the damage this sword attack caused. The forest trees that were in the way were completely destroyed, leaving a long trail of destruction that stretched for several hundred meters.
He started to sweat bullets.
"How terrifying!"
The City Lord then turned to see where this sword attack originated from. He realized it wasn’t aimed at him, but rather it was a stray attack that wandered in his direction.
"COME OUT!!!"
A furious shout thundered out and entered the City Lord’s ears.
It was coming from the valley.
The City Lord hesitated, but his curiosity got the better of him. He undoubtedly recognized that voice to belong to Elder Hyun-Joo. She was fighting with someone.
The City Lord lowered his body closer to the tall forest trees below before carefully making his way towards the valley.
The closer he got the more he heard the sounds of fighting.
However, as the City Lord reached in range to see what was happening inside the valley, he was beyond dumbfounded.
He thought he would see Elder Hyun-Joo locked in an intense battle with someone, but turns out she was the only one in the valley.
"I SAID COME OUT!!"
Elder Hyun-Joo’s hair was in disarray and her eyes were bloodshot. Weirdly, the parts of her skin that were visible had black lines all over it, including her face. Her overall appearance looked haggard, a complete contrast from her previous refined and pristine look.
Not only that, she was wildly swinging her sword around while screaming at nothing in particular.
"Oh my god, has she gone mad?"
The City Lord could only come to this conclusion upon witnessing this scene.
However, just as he muttered this, a figure suddenly appeared on the ground.
It was someone dressed in full black who had his face and hair covered by a mask and a hood, leaving only his eyes visible. His attire left nothing to tell how old this person was or even if they were male or female.
"What’s an assassin doing here? This must be some political scheme between the Sects and Clans. Did they take this chance to kill her out here?"
The City Lord was making guesses from this situation, but he was eighty percent sure he was right. After all, it wasn’t unheard of for an Elder to be assassinated. They were far and few between but not impossible, someone just had to provoke the wrong person.
The City Lord glanced at this assassin and frowned.
"Why can’t I sense this person’s cultivation? And how did they just appear out of thin air? How terrifying. It looks like Elder Hyun-Joo has been poisoned as well, she might actually be killed by this skilled assassin."
However, just as the City Lord said that he was left dumbfounded when this assassin suddenly began...
"Huh? What in the world is this person doing? Why are they stretching?"
....
...
..
Thirty Minutes Ago...
Swoosh!
After leaving the City far behind on foot, Elder Hyun-Joo’s body rose into the air and left a white streak in the sky. She flew towards the mountains in the distance.
With her speed as a Spiritual Realm cultivator, covering several tens of kilometers in mere minutes was as simple as lifting a hand.
She soon reached a secluded valley between two mountains about fifteen minutes later. Hovering above the tall forest trees, her cold voice reverberated out using her Aether Energy.
"Come out!"
Hyun-Joo placed her hands in her sleeves and waited patiently, however, even after a minute had passed she did not see the appearance of that City Lord.
"How improper to be late to the meeting you set up."
Elder Hyun-Joo clicked her tongue and began lowering herself to the ground. However, she suddenly stopped and looked around.
Her Soul Energy swept out and several hundred meters of forest trees appeared in her mind. She scanned the forest down below in detail trying to find signs of life.
But even after scanning thoroughly for a few breaths worth of time, she didn’t find anything.
Perhaps she was being too cautious. She thought someone had used the City Lord to lure her here.
If that was true the only reason she could think of was that someone wanted to kill her. But upon further thought, that notion was too absurd.
Not to mention she was an Elder of the Martial Alliance Academy, she was also the grandniece of the Emei Sect’s Matriarch.
Even though she was one of many grandnieces, which made her title as an Elder of the Martial Alliance Academy greater than her position in the Emei Sect, her status was still higher than most Spiritual Realm cultivators.
Only a fool would tried to attack her, especially in a situation like this where the Six Holy Sects and Five Great Clans had their entire focus on this City. The death of another Academy Elder outside the dimension would cause chaos.
Nevertheless, Elder Hyun-Joo like to pretend to be a cautious person.
With a flip of her hand, she took out a glistening white sword.
This sword was a Divine Artifact and from its appearance, it was of a high grade.
Swoosh!
Elder Hyun-Joo cleaved down with her sword and the Wind Aether Energy in the surroundings gathered to form a terrifying sword arc that shot out. The massive trees below stood no chance against this attack and were obliterated.
Swoosh!
Swoosh!
Swoosh!
Elder Hyun-Joo continued to swing down, hoping to make a clearing where she could land.
What was terrifying about this scene was that these attacks weren’t ordinary, they were Martial Skills.
The power of a Spiritual Realm cultivator was just too terrifying. They can spam Martial Skills without any incantation or hand seals.
As for sword users like Elder Hyun-Joo, every swing of their sword was a Martial Skill being used.
Mortal Realm cultivators just can’t be compared to them in strength.
