Chapter 185: Chapter 185- An Adorable Smile

Sol clicked his tongue upon hearing that.

Abdu was born at a time when everyone was in the Spiritual Realm upon birth, so everyone had an Aether Core back then.

Sol looked at his hand and thought.

’I wonder how things changed so much. Us Mortal Realm cultivators can store Aether Energy inside our open acupoints, but I bet it’s nowhere comparable to the Aether Core one would form upon opening their Mortal Palaces and entering the Spiritual Realm.’

As Sol was in his thoughts, the group reached the edge of the fallen pillar before leaping down.

After landing, Sol looked back at the massive pillar. Now that he thought about it, this place look familiar. Or at least its exaggerated size looks familiar.

He was sure this massive Hall wasn’t built to accommodate a regular-sized person.

"Immortals... They’re existences that wield powers close to a God."

Sol mumble out a passage he once read in those old books his Master gave him.

"It’s interesting, right? Wondering what kind of people they were in the past."

Yoon-Jae said turning to Sol.

"There’s nothing to wonder about, they were powerful but they were by no means good people. The moment they got a taste of Immortality, they lost their humanity."

Everyone turned to look at Abdu when he said that.

"Little Abdu sir, were you really around during those times? What was it like?"

Cheong-San asked using his Soul Energy.

Abdu paused and seemed to stare off into the distance as he responded.

"Take those Sects and Clans you’ve been hiding from and multiply their power and influence by a thousandfold. Then place all of that power and influence into one entity who says you should worship them or be killed."

Cheong-San felt a cold chill go down his spine.

"That’s–That’s terrifying."

"You have no idea."

"Ah, Little Abdu sir, were they really that strong? I feel my father could beat an Immortal in a fight."

Everyone turned to looked at Mar-Dule as if he had gone crazy.

Seeing everyone looking at him, Mar-Dule hurriedly said.

"No, no, I’m serious. You don’t know what that old man is like when he’s angry. The entire Eternal Desert trembles when he sneezes much less if he flips out!"

"I don’t know my Master’s cultivation, but he’s strong too."

Byeong-Ho suddenly added.

"Well, our Sect Leader was said to have fought all the Patriarchs and Sect Leaders of the Five Great Clans and Six Holy Sects in the past, and came out on top."

"Didn’t the records say that’s because he used schemes to trap them in a powerful Grand Formation?"

Mar-Dule said, and Heon-Tae frowned at him before saying.

"So? Isn’t that his own strength? I bet you’re just exaggerating, there’s no way your father is that strong."

Mar-Dule snorted.

"If my Father fought with your Sect Leader then there’s no way he’d lose!"

"That’s not true, and it’s the same for my Master, they’re both stronger than your Father."

Mar-Dule turned to glare at Byeong-Ho, and he started to get agitated.

"You guys really don’t know what you’re talking about. How about I take you to see him aftwr we leave the dimension? Then you’ll really piss your pants when he sneezes!"

Sol smiled bitterly upon listening to how this conversation devolved into whose Father, Master, and Sect Leader was stronger.

Though he had to refrain from joining the childish banter with ’his Father was the strongest.’

Maybe the father he grew up with was around the Spiritual Realm if he wasn’t mistaken. But the one he saw in his memories could move through the stars.

After walking for a few minutes, the group finally reached the end of the long hall.

Yoon-Jae rolled his eyes at Mar-Dule and the others’ argument before he stepped towards the Mother Spider.

However, Cheong-Su’s body suddenly stiffened before he cried out.

"WAIT!"

SWOOOSH!!

It’s as if a massive tornado suddenly sprung from thin air to sweep over the eight youths.

Sol had to shield his eyes from the sudden intense winds. After a few seconds of this, the windstorm calmed down and he opened his eyes.

"Wha–Where am I?"

Sol was shocked to find himself in the middle of a luscious grassy field.

Far off in the distance was the same sight, except for the massive tree that seemed to have grown to reach the heavens themselves.

Sol looked away from this massive tree and started searching for any signs of the others.

But he was alone, even Abdu who was on his head was gone.

"Was that a teleportation? Or is this an illusion?"

Sol bent down and picked up a handful of grass to examine them.

’They feel so realistic, could this be real?’

Sol let the stands of grass go and watched them float away in the wind. His eyes then followed them before landing back on the Heavenly Tree.

"So is that real too?"

As Sol was thinking of what to do, he suddenly felt his Innate Dharma tremble.

"Hm?"

Sol was shocked. It felt as if his Innate Dharma was reacting to this Heavenly Tree.

After thinking for a moment, Sol decided to head towards the tree.

In the outside world, Sol and the others’ bodies were frozen with their eyes glazed over.

The hall was no longer dark. The corpse of the Mother Spider and signs of battle were no longer visible as well.

The Palace seemed to have returned to its original appearance. Or rather this was how it had always looked.

Sol and the others had been like this the moment they stepped through the barrier.

On the ground of the large hall, there was a Formation in the form of a dragon. It was pulsating with a golden aura that encapsulated the eight youths and two beasts.

The faint sound of a musical instrument could be heard as well.

This was the second and third test, an illusory Grand Formation.

However, this wasn’t an ordinary illusory Formation. Once inside, it conjures an opponent that best suits the person or persons inside.

If the opponent was successfully defeated or one lost, one would then be tested on their talents.

Simply put, it was a test of one’s combat prowess and overall talent

In truth, those Formation Arrays outside the Palace were the difficult part. As long as someone had one of the Inheritances from the Subsidiary Palaces, it was smooth sailing from there.

"Ugh! Oh man, I can’t believe it took so long for someone to come here."

The sound of youth could be heard saying, and soon a young boy who looked around eight or nine appeared in front of Sol and the others. He was wearing golden robes and had his hair pinned into a folded ponytail.

It looked like he was trying to play dress up as a little Emperor. He looked quite adorable though.

The boy stretched his arms above his head before covering his mouth and releasing a wide yawn.

"Let’s see, these five are the ones with the Inheritances."

The boy said as he looked at Byeong-Ho, Cheong-San, Cheong-Su, and Heon-Tae. His gaze landed on Sol last.

With a hand under his chin, the youth asked to no one in particular.

"So which one should I possess?"

After examining everyone closely, the boy’s gaze stopped on Sol.

"Well, I guess I should go with my original decision."

The boy smile an adorable smile as he beeline towards Sol.
