Chapter 179: Chapter 179- The Secret Connection Between The Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension and The Demonic Cult

Elder Hyun-Joo slammed her palm towards the direction she heard Dae Han’s voice coming from in the Pavilion’s rubble. Her power exploded out and a palm print was sent flying towards the rubble.

However, as her attack sent the debris scattered in all directions, Dae Han was nowhere to be found beneath.

Hyun-Joo immediately sent out her Soul Energy to search for him, but not a trace of Dae Han was felt in the area.

He was gone.

Not willing to give up, Hyun-Joo suddenly formed a hand seal and then tapped the white stone around her neck.

With a soft glow, the white stone rose from her chest and started floating to her left.

She instantly spun around to be faced with the crowd of people that had gathered around due to the Pavilion’s destruction.

She scanned the faces in the crowd, and her gaze met with a middle-aged man’s own.

This middle-aged man looked completely ordinary, however, he was noticeably clutching at something around his neck.

Seeing this caused Hyun-Joo to go on high alert.

Not even a full minute had passed since she lost sight of Dai Han but here he was mingling within the crowd with a different appearance.

Even as her Soul Energy swept over him she realized that he had somehow managed to completely change his aura.

Fearful of losing him again, Hyun-Joo locked onto him with her Soul Energy and shot towards him.

The crowd of people was shocked by her sudden actions and all scattered.

Dae Han seeing this cursed his luck of having this black stone, before turning around and vanishing into the frantic crowd.

Hyun-Joo froze in her tracks; she had lost him once again.

’This... Just what kind of ability does this brat have?’

She was wholly shocked because even with her Soul Energy locked onto him, she had still lost Dae Han.

Without hesitation, she used her Yin Celestial Stone to find him once again.

Her head swiftly turned to look at a mortal coachman who was riding a carriage on the outskirts of the frightened crowd.

How Dae Han suddenly gained a horse carriage, she didn’t know.

Hyun-Joo shot toward this old man on the horse carriage, but the second that she did, this frail-looking old man suddenly jumped up from his seat and leaped off the carriage.

The frantic crowd paused to watch in utter astonishment as this frail old man landed on the ground and instantly started sprinting down the road.

A muscular middle-aged man he ran past had his eyes pop out of his head while a look of incredulity appeared on his face.

While running from Hyun-Joo who immediately started chasing him, Dae Han began cursing his situation.

’Damn it, this stone is going to be the death of me, but I can’t just abandon it. I just need to get rid of this thieving bitch before the other cultivators regain ths usage of their cultivations.’

Dae Han squinted his eyes as he took out another black jade slip before turning into a narrow alleyway and disappearing.

Hyun-Joo lost him for the third time, but she didn’t hesitate to use her Yin Celestial Stone to find him.

She wanted to contact the other elders to inform them that she had found the Demonic Cult spy, but if she did that, they would question how Dae Han was able to create that dark light. How could she let anyone else have the Yang Celestial Stone?

It was hers!

A cat-and-mouse chase thus ensues between Dai Han and Elder Hyun-Joo in Pearl City, with both parties trying not to draw attention from the other cultivators.

But that would prove to be rather difficult as the cultivators, especially those from the Six Holy Sects and Five Great Clans, were searching for the culprit more fervently because of the destruction of their businesses.

In Pearl City, near the Multidimensional Teleportation Array on a mountain, various temporary two-story Pavilions were set up to host the Elders of the Academy, as well as the people from the Six Holy Sects and Five Great Clans who came to investigate the Array’s destruction.

A middle-aged man was seen rushing into one of these temporary Pavilions. After reaching the second floor he burst through the door of the main dining hall and yelled in panic.

"Elder Gu! Elder Gu! The Wudang Sect’s... the Wudang Sect’s business is up in flames!"

Though, despite the frantic state he was in, the middle aged man did not forget to bow respectfully as he approached Elder Gu.

Elder Gu had his back to this middle-aged man as he looked out the window. He was actually looking at the four pillars of smoke rising into the sky from Pearl City.

Suddenly a fifth explosion occurred the caused this Pavilion to tremble slightly.

An extremely ugly expression appeared on Elder Gu’s face as he look at the fifth pillar of smoke

"I can see that for myself."

Elder Gu then frowned and muttered to himself.

"So this is what they were after? We were tricked into placing our focus on fixing the Multidimensional Teleportation Array while they uproot our businesses in Pearl City? These businesses are one of our Wudang Sect’s main sources of revenue. It is the same for the other Holy Sects and Five Great Clans, so there is a high possibility this situation is what they were after. But here I thought their goal was the Inheritances in the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension, the other Elders thought this as well. I suppose we don’t have to worry about that since we know that’s not the case."

The middle-aged man that was bowing behind Elder Gu, hesitated a bit before asking curiously.

"Elder Gu, what Inheritances? I thought the Six Holy Sects and Five Great Clans have cleared out the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension?"

He wouldn’t normally be so intrusive as to ask questions like this. He was a mere low-level Elder in the Martial Alliance Academy, while Elder Gu was both a respected Elder in the Academy and in the Wudang Sect.

But the word ’Inheritance’ invoked too much of his curiosity.

"Hm, you would think the Six Holy Sects and the Five Great have cleared out the Inheritances in the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension, after all, we allow the disciples of the Academy to enter. But there are in fact five Inheritance that remained in there which we failed to obtain in the past."

The middle-aged man hearing this was shocked.

"Elder Gu, are those... are those five Inheritances perhaps related to the Immortals from time immemorial?"

Elder Gu nodded along with a hum of confirmation.

The middle-aged man was further shocked, and the desire for such an Inheritance started to rise in his heart.

Without turning to look at him, Elder Gu snorted and said.

"Don’t think of doing anything stupid, even our Wudang Sect as well as the other Holy Sects and Five Great Clans have failed to obtain them. Well, not the full Inheritance at least. And don’t let anyone know I’m telling you such information. I did so because you are one of my trusted aids."

The middle-aged man’s expression changed, and the desire in his heart was squashed instantly. It was better to focus on his situation now than to fantasize about Immortals’ Inheritance and ruin his relationship with Elder Gu.

"I-I apologize Elder Gu..."

However, that didn’t mean his curiosity was satiated.

"...But, might I ask why the Inheritance of the Immortals was left inside the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension?"

Elder Gu remained silent before saying.

"We cannot retrieve them because those Inheritances can only be obtained by those vermins from the Demonic Cult."

"W-What?! How- Why is it like that Elder Gu?"

Elder Gu frowned.

"That is as much as I will say on this topic. Even I do not know why such is the case, perhaps only the Patriarch and those of a similar level know."

The middle-aged man was shaken. He realized there must be some huge secret that connected the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension to the Demonic Cult. But he did well to not show his desire to know more, as Elder Gu was starting to get annoyed at his questions.

"Go and investigate the situation in Pearl City..."

Elder Gu paused.

"...and contact Elder Hyun-Joo as well."

"Yes, Elder Gu."

After bowing, the middle-aged man turned and left the Pavilion.

Elder Gu remained standing at the window of the Pavilion; looking out at Pearl City.

"Why did I feel her cultivation aura in the City previously?"

Even though a majority of cultivators couldn’t use their cultivations at the moment, the few Spiritual Realm cultivators in the City could still use their Soul Energies.

With Elder Gu’s Soul Energy spread out, flowing downbthe mountain and encapsulating a portion of Pearl City, he could feel the slightest fluctuation of Aether Energy in the surroundings even without having his Soul Energy directly in contact with the focal point of this fluctuation.

And he undoubtedly felt residual fluctuations of a Martial Skill he recognized to be from Elder Hyun-Joo.

Elder Gu’s eyes narrowed, he was wise enough to discern that Hyun-Joo was up to something in Pearl City.
