Chapter 177- Escaping Pearl City
Chapter 177: Chapter 177- Escaping Pearl City
In Pearl City, Dae Han was inside the Pavilion used to register those using the nearby Teleportation Array to reach the Outer Region.
The room he was in was covered entirely in runic symbols.
It took another two weeks, but he was finally about to finish carving these runes.
While on his hands and knees carving, Dae Han had tears coming out of his bloodshot eyes. He was dead tired having been carving without rest, but these were tears of joy. He still had about a week or two before his destruction to the Multidimensional Teleportation Array was fixed by the Martial Alliance Academy elders. He should completely finish inscribing these runes in a day.
However, his estimation didn’t account for the disturbance in the Hundred Plants and Herb Dimension and how that would affect the Academy becoming more frantic to open the dimension.
Wang~ Wang~ Wang~
Dae Han blinked, and he suddenly jumped up from the ground and rushed towards one of the closed windows in the room. He carefully cracked it open to look outside, and what he saw almost made him faint from fright.
Cultivators numbering in the thousands were flying on Spirit Treasures blocking out the clear blue sky.
They were all watching as four white pillars of light pierced the firmament that sent out spatial ripples that part the clouds in the sky.
It was coming from the Multidimensional Teleportation Array!
"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, FUCK!! Why is the Multidimensional Teleportation Array activating?!"
Dae Han closed the window and started nervously pacing back and forth in his room.
"Damn it, this isn’t good. I haven’t finished the runes yet! I just need one day, just one day damn it!"
Dae Han rushed to look out the window once more and seeing the increasing brightness of the four pillars of light, his heart shook.
"Fuck! They’re about to open the Dimension!"
Dae Han slammed the window shut before running to the center of the room and sitting cross-legged. He hurriedly reached into his robes and pulled out a necklace that was around his neck.
This necklace had a faded silver chain that wrapped around his neck, while at the end of it was an ordinary-looking small black stone.
Without wasting much time, Dae Han began rapidly forming hand seals while bizarre words floated out of his mouth.
The small stone on the necklace seemed to react to his voice, and it began to glow a black light. Shockingly, chaotic spatial ripples then start to emanate from this small stone.
"This is crazy, this is crazy, I shouldn’t be doing this!"
Despite his words, Dae Han’s hands never stopped forming hands seals. In a few breaths, he had already formed hundreds if not thousands of hand seals. Finally, his hands came to a stop, and he slammed his palm onto the floor.
All the runes he carved on the ground lit up before lifting off the ground and walls to float around him.
They then began to swirl around him resulting in strong gales appearing in the room. Dae Han’s robes fluttered uncontrollably as he yelled.
"I don’t want to die!"
He then slammed his palms together and in one swift motion the runes numbering in the thousands swirling around him, shot towards the small stone around his neck. In the blink of an eye, all runes embedded themselves onto the stone. This seemed to stimulate this mysterious object and caused it start trembling.
Dae Han squeezed his eyes shut just as the small black stone burst with an ominous dark light. Inside this dark light was a terrifying chaotic aura.
With a mind of its own, this burst of black light engulfed the room before seeping out of the building.
"Huh? Wah-What the hell is that light?!"
This dark light immediately caught the attention of the cultivators of Pearl City who gathered in the air to witness the Dimension opening.
"It-It’s heading for us!"
"Wah!"
All the cultivators started scrambling trying to fly away from this ominous light on their Spirit Treasures. However, the dark light didn’t seem to know the concept of distance. The moment the dark light appeared, it had already caught up to them and swept over their bodies.
The dark light then went on to cover nearly 1/3 of Pearl City, including the Multidimensional Teleportation Array.
Then as if it had reached its limit, the dark light stopped and then vanished like everyone was merely having mass hallucinations of seeing it.
However, the effects it had on the surroundings still remained. Everywhere this dark light had passed, the Aether Energy in the surroundings became extremely chaotic.
"What’s happening?!"
The cultivators in the sky found that their Spirit Treasures stopped operating, leaving them to fall out of the air. As they fell to their possible deaths, they saw the four white pillars slowly began fading away. They instantly knew what had just happened, someone had targeted the Multidimensional Teleportation Array when it was just about to activate.
However, that wasn’t the worst thing this dark light had done.
"My cultivation! Why can’t I use my cultivation!!"
The cultivators who managed to survive the fall with only superficially injuries started crying out in shock while looking at their hands and examining their bodies.
Not only them, but the other cultivators who were watching the four white pillars on the ground but was enveloped in the dark light, also couldn’t use their cultivations.
When they tried circulating their Aether Energy, it would slip out of their control. If they forcefully try and control it, they might suffer from a backlash of Aether Energy in their bodies.
As chaos was unfolding in Pearl City, Dae Han cracked open his eyes in his room. He then looked down at his body as if he were about to see his innards. But when he saw that he was completely fine, he started patting himself down in disbelief.
Dae Han grabbed his face.
Two eyes.
One nose.
Ears.
Mouth.
Dae Han suddenly raised his head to the ceiling and let out uproarious laughter.
"I can’t believe that worked!"
His original plan was to release that chaotic energy at certain intervals over the next month and a half, so that it wouldn’t be detectable like how it was now. But desperate times called for desperate measure.
It was risky, but from his understanding of this treasure, even the cultivators in the city cultivation bases would be affected by the dark light. The faint yells coming from outside confirmed this.
"Good, I can escape before anyone discovers me."
The stone around his neck had prevented his own cultivation from being affected by the light it produced.
"Youngest Brother, Third Brother, Fourth Brother, Fifth Brother, and Eldest Brother, I did what I could. It should take those fuckers at least another half a month to fix the Multidimensional Teleportation Array. But I’ll be leaving first."
With that, Dae Han went to leave the room and escaped Pearl City as soon as possible. However, he suddenly paused at the door and swiftly looked up at the ceiling.
BANG!!
A loud explosion echoed out as the Pavilion’s roof exploded. Dae Han hurriedly dived to a corner of the room and cover his head from the falling debris.
