The Growth of a Titan -
Chapter 142- A Lot
Chapter 142: Chapter 142- A Lot
The tension inside this massive hall was so intense it created the misconception that it was small.
Like a prisoner confined to a small cell, anyone would feel suffocated and trapped.
Golden floor tiles that could reflect one’s appearance...
Golden pillars that seem large enough to hold up the sky...
This massive hall radiated prestige and power.
The sunlight that came through the large windows entered the hall and amplified this feeling tenfold.
The hall also had this immaculate look to it that made it seem fake to some extent.
"Father, what more do you want from me? I gave you everything, why do insist on doing this? I don’t understand Dad."
A young man was on his knees with his head hung low inside this hall. He looked like a spec due to how large the hall was.
In front of him was a large throne the size of a mountain. The man seated on it was so big he almost didn’t fit on the throne itself.
This man’s face had white fog around it, blocking his appearance from anyone brave enough to look at his face.
His clothes, however, were clearly seen. They were golden in color and seemed to have been made from the finest and most expensive of materials. It allowed him to blend seemlessly with the luxuriousness of the massive hall.
Gripping the sides of his throne, this mountain of a man looked down at his son as he said.
"I gave you numerous warnings of what would happen if you continued that farce of a relationship with that woman. But you did not heed them. Now that you’re facing the consequences of your actions you chose to come kneel before me to beg for forgiveness?"
The young man seemed distraught by those words as gripped his ragged pants, but he still managed to say.
"Father, out of all of your children, who has been the most obedient? Who has been the most loyal? Who has sacrificed more to please you? Father, I only ask of you to grant me this wish, please allow me to leave with my wife."
The two black bracelets on the man’s wrists shook as he placed his palms flat on the ground and lowered his head onto them.
The desperation in his voice was immense.
However, the golden eyes of the man on the throne, which could be seen through the fog, had no emotion in them as he looked at his son pleading.
"Father please..."
The young man begged again.
"...she now bares a son, your grandson Father. If you allow us to leave then I’ll never return."
When the young man revealed this fact as a last-ditched attempt to gain sympathy, he expected his Father to fly into a rage, but instead, he was met with silence.
The young man’s eyes flew open and his head shot up to look at his Father.
"You knew?"
The man on the throne remained silent.
"Father, you..."
The young man’s body shook and tears well up in his eyes.
"Father, what have you done?"
"Do you truly believe I would allow that abomination to exist?"
The young man’s body began shaking even harder and he stood up with a staggered step.
"FATHER I ASKED WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!!"
The young man roared out in a hoarse voice, but the man on the throne merely went to rest his chin on his fist.
"I did what was necessary for you to come to your senses and inherit this throne."
"I DON’T WANT IT!! I NEVER WANTED IT!!!"
The man immediately retorted and his voice reverberated against the walls of the hall. He then glared at his Father with so much hatred it almost manifested a physical form.
"If being a Tyrant is needed to inherit that throne then I don’t want it."
....
...
..
Sol suddenly woke up with a start and he felt tears running down the sides of his cheeks.
Those were memories from his Father’s perspective again.
Sol still felt the anger and heart-splitting sadness his Father was feeling during that time.
It was suffocating and it took him a while to disassociate himself from those emotions.
Soon, Sol slowly sat up and wiped his tears away before he looked around.
He was inside the hole he dug with Yoon-Jae.
The teleportation had brought them outside, however, Sol didn’t see Abdu anywhere.
"I’m here brat."
Abdu’s voice was heard inside his head. Sol glanced down at the back of his hands.
The black and blue runes were replaced by tattoo versions of themselves.
"Why are you back so soon? I thought you said you were going to stay for a week?"
Sol heard a voice above him and he looked up to see who it was, but the intense rays from the afternoon sun blinded him. He used his hands to shield his eyes and finally saw that it was Yoon-Jae.
He was sitting cross-legged as he rested his chin on his hand. He had an extremely lethargic expression on his face as he looked at Sol.
"I decided to leave early, were you waiting for me Brother Yoon-Jae?"
Sol got up and brush off his clothes.
"Yeah, and I was contemplating finding a way to activate this teleportation array before a week is up."
"Why? Did something happen?"
"A lot."
Sol reached up and Yoon-Jae grabbed his hand and lifted him out of the hole.
After Sol was out, he saw that alchemy disciples were running around the area frantically. Looks of horror and dread were present on each of their faces as they looked at each other.
The atmosphere was filled with intense paranoia.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, just what exactly happened when I was away?"
Yoon-Jae released a long sigh and then said.
"Let’s enter the Palace and talk about it."
Both Sol and Yoon-Jae then headed for the half-ruined Palace. On their way, the frantic disciples would catch a glimpse of Sol, and after being surprised they would bow and greet him.
Sol greeted them back, but as he was about to enter the ruined Palace, he turned back to look at the hole.
He realized it wasn’t hidden. The disciples were free to see inside.
Even though he had already gotten the legacy, and made sure that the teleportation array won’t activate for anyone else, it was still unwise to announce to the world that they had discovered something like this.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, the hole, why didn’t you keep it hidden?"
Sol asked as the two entered the Palace.
Yoon-Jae shrugged his shoulders and replied.
"Almost everyone in this dimension is in a state of panic, no one has any time to care about treasures."
Sol was taken aback by this and was just about to ask why, but the two suddenly passed the main hall, and Sol couldn’t help but paused to look at it.
The tiles on the ground were gone and the area was transformed into a garden of sorts, but sadly this garden was completely destroyed. The only thing here that indicated this was once a garden was the lingering smell of burnt medicinal plants.
"What happened to the garden? Was it destroyed by someone?"
"Yeah, you."
"What?! Me?"
