The Golem Mage
Chapter 672 - 672 Last Moves

672: Last Moves.

672: Last Moves.

The fight between Dragov and Vincent might have appeared evenly matched, but those who could truly decipher the speed at which both mages were exhibiting were able to see every minute detail of the battle.

After a few rounds of rapid exchanges without gaining the upper hand, Dragov grew weary of entangling with Vincent, who clearly seemed to excel in hand-to-hand combat.

Although Dragov knew that hand-to-hand combat wasn’t his true specialty, but he realized Vincent was superior to him in making split-second decisions when it came to throwing punches at such fast intensity.

Seizing the opportunity, Dragov dashed backward, breaking the cycle of high-speed combat they had been locked in.

While Dragov worried about taking hits from Vincent, Vincent faced his own challenges, he had managed to land a couple of hits on Dragov during their exchanges in the arena, but none had resulted in critical injuries.

Though Dragov did not have the bulky physique typical of most Dragonmir clansmen, but his defense was just as remarkably strong; and despite being bare-chested, he absorbed every blow without sustaining any injuries.

In contrast, Vincent felt his hands growing numb, and he sensed his internal organs churning every time he failed to evade one of Dragov’s punches.

“AHHHH, fuck all this!”

[> Bloodline Transformation – First stage <]

For the first time in the competition, Dragov decided to use his bloodline powers actively instead of relying on them passively.

The moment he activated the first stage of his bloodline ability, azure dragon scales enveloped his hands, legs, and chest, appearing more like a spirit equipment set than a mere bloodline transformation.

The scales that covered his chest, extending from his neck to his waist, formed a dragon-like armour, while those on his arms became gauntlets with long claws.

The dragon boots completed his formidable new appearance.

As all of this unfolded, Dragov’s body blazed with a larger, blue flame, and his aura pressure intensified.

While he hadn’t yet reached the Tier 6 Mage realm, he was still significantly stronger than he was just moments ago.

With his transformation complete, Dragov made his move, disappearing from the view of the audience.

Like teleportation, he appeared before Vincent, stretching his open right hand toward Vincent’s head.

Seeing such a straightforward attack, Vincent felt insulted, believing he was being looked down upon.

This new change in power level was reinforced by Dragov’s transformation, which had dramatically boosted his speed, surpassing what he had displayed a few seconds ago.

However, this transformation was not limited to speed alone.

Alec, who is watching from a higher vantage point, recognized from his experience with spirit equipment sets that this first-stage transformation likely provided significant stat bonuses like spirit equipment sets did, possibly even more than a standard Tier 5 spirit equipment.

He suspected that the boots were enhancing Dragov’s speed, while the gauntlets were adding to his strength, suggesting that the armour contributed either to his mana or endurance, or in most cases, both.

Witnessing yet another hidden power of Dragov only fueled Alec’s determination to craft his own spirit equipment set as soon as he got back.

.

Though Dragov’s hand appeared to move slowly to any ordinary Mage in the Grand Arena, but to Vincent, who is the target, felt as if his movements had been restricted.

He could only advance to meet the attack and found himself unable to retreat.

It seemed as though this action was governed by an implementation of law, albeit at an amateur level, such an ability should never have been displayed by a Tier 5 Mage, but since Dragov possessed a Bloodline that might have attained some degree of law manipulation, Vincent realized that only a subtle part of the intent was restraining him.

Realizing he couldn’t move backward and could only advance, Vincent braced himself and dashed forward.

Once he was within a considerable distance of Dragov, he channelled most of his mana into his left hand, causing the chains wrapped around it to glow, as well as his hand, which sparkled with an ethereal bluish light.

He then slapped Dragov’s hand away and quickly followed through with a jab from his right hand.

Although being so close to Dragov wasn’t ideal, but he had no choice but to give it his all under the circumstances.

Just as Vincent was about to connect with his jab, Dragov’s left hand clamped down on his fist, an excited smile spreading across his face.

“You already did that before, buddy.

Show me something new!

There’s no way I’m falling for this trick again, and I don’t like my jaw being dislocated so frequently.” With that, Dragov delivered a head-butt to Vincent, leaving him dazed.

He followed up with a punch straight to Vincent’s gut, lifting him into the air, before Vincent could hit the ground, Dragov grabbed his head and began slamming his body from side to side.

Each impact echoed loudly, and the fans of the Battle Mage Academy fell silent, their hands clenched into fists, tears welling in their eyes as they watched Dragov treat their captain like a piece of unwanted cloth.

Once satisfied, Dragov hurled Vincent’s body toward the nearest wall.

As Vincent’s back slammed into the arena wall, causing a crack and the light shield that protected the crowd simmered instantly, a testament to the force of the impact.

Vincent’s body was completely embedded in the wall, covered in bleeding injuries, and his face looked pale.

At that moment, everyone believed the match was nearly over.

Dragov approached his massive weapon, gripping the hilt and slowly dragging it toward the wall where Vincent lay.

With each second the sword scraped against the ground, the fans of the Battle Mage Academy felt a tightening in their chests, as if someone were gripping their hearts.

But something unusual happened, Vincent, who should have lost consciousness, suddenly stretched out his right hand despite still being embedded in the wall.

His sword, which he had left somewhere in the middle of the battlefield, began to vibrate intensely before launching itself through the air.

It was as if it had been uprooted by an unknown force, the moment the sword entered Vincent’s grasp, his eyes shot open, revealing a chilling coldness that he had never displayed before.

Flashes of runic tattoos started to appear on his body, and parts of a spirit equipment set began to gather around him at an astonishing speed.

In just five seconds, Vincent transformed from wearing light armour to being adorned in a striking white armour with red-hued patterns on various sections as he came off the wall causing debris to fall.

He spread his arms wide, revealing his blazing sword in his right hand and a chained kunai in his left.

“Oh, round two, huh?” Dragov questioned, but Vincent had no reply, only responding by whipping his kunai toward Dragov’s location while simultaneously casting a spell.
