The Goddess Made A Mistake Again -
Chapter 384 - 384 - Little Support
"Charge my brothers!" Came the roar from the soldier standing atop a tall horse at the forefront.
The Religias Blue Eagle with white eyes drawn on his chest seemed to pride fully spread its wings at his roars. He's short raven black hair moved freely through the air as the horse reared with a roar and ran forward.
"Arghhh!"
Hundreds of soldiers behind the man screamed too before running alongside him.
To them, it didn't matter that their captain's strongest attack, his signature one was stopped. It didn't matter to them that the wooden dome stood while the large ball threatened to break it apart.
To them what mattered was that the man in front of them didn't break apart and ran. He ran towards victory that those soldiers behind would guarantee for him.
"To Victory!"
"To killing those Bastards!"
"For our Commander!"
They sang aloud bringing them the courage they need to face the obstacle ahead. They knew that most of them wouldn't survive this onslaught and wouldn't be able to see their loved ones that they had promised.
But it was duty… for that and their loved ones, those brave men were ready to jump into this fire and burn bright if needed.
Captain Vein also understood that as his horse ran with courage and speed as it trampled down and his slashes cut down those bandits blocking his path.
He would go to the base that had denied him entry and break it apart. Even if he had to use everything in himself to gain that, he would do so. For he knew what was inside the base.
And no matter what he couldn't let this attack fail.
Vein looked up at the wooden dome, at its cracked surface. He saw how it spread around and that it would only take a bit more for it break down and fall apart.
'But I used up most of my power on that big attack… who'd have thought that they would be able to stop it.'
Vein cursed inwardly but didn't lose his grip. His horse ran forward and he gathered a bit of Iron on his arm and pointed at the dome.
'I hope that this much would at least give us an entrance… if only there was something that could be done about that dome.'
Somehow, luck or fate would have his prayer come true.
"BOOM!"
Suddenly, huge sound waves crashed upon the dome that made everyone stop immediately.
Vein's horse also stopped its run as hard as it could before fearfully backing away. Vein felt the push from the stop but focused atop at the dome and his eyes widened.
Before all of their eyes, the sound waves did close to nothing to the wooden dome… but fortunately it hit upon the one place that could.
The big iron ball felt the sudden push it needed to break apart the dome. The cracks on the dome spread apart before it became increasingly alarming to everyone close.
"Everyone, back away." Vein screamed, "It's about to fall!"
The wooden domes cracks intensified before small parts of it broke apart and became splinters. Then as if a water dam having a large crack, the wooden dome exploded and spread around as the iron ball went under.
The soldiers took fearful steps back before they turned and started running. But it was still too late for those close as many wooden parts fell upon them. Some of the broken parts even shot away and hit someone completely unsuspecting of his outcome.
It didn't matter to the dome which were bandit or soldier, it hit everyone in its trajectory.
The soldiers immediately used their shields or rings to protect their body while running and the bandits only used their rings as they didn't have as much armor as the soldiers.
Inevitably, it was the bandits that had the most damage. Not only were it the bandits that were the closest to the dome but most of the bandits and its leaders were inside the dome.
It was their purpose to protect the items inside the base and it also came to mind that it would protect them as well… but alas, the thing that was supposed to protect them, trapped them and brought their end.
After a while, when the crash event finally simmered down, Vein looked up through his horse at the outcome.
The crash from the wooden dome caused a lot of dust, but it wasn't enough for Vein's eyes to shade the slaughter it caused on the battlefield.
Bodies… lots of bodies sprayed out, tangled apart and mangled in ways unimaginable on the field. It didn't matter whether the bodies belonged to Bandits or soldiers, their deaths were simply unavoidable.
He could easily count around 40 or so like that.
That was only the bodies which were identifiable, but what about the ones that weren't. Many had their faces distorted, some their clothes and some even had been completely mashed out beyond recognition.
He couldn't even tell if it were his own comrades or bastards that somehow shouldn't deserve such an end.
"i… si…"
Vein heard muffled voices calling for him. He looked behind with a mild headache and ear piercing tone blocking his ear. He sees a familiar face running towards him.
"Ric… kel?" Vein asked as he tried to stabilize his head, "Is that you, Rickel?"
"sir… Sir!" Rickel came before him, his armor covered with wooden dusts and some blood, "Are you alright? You didn't get hit, right?"
"No…" Vein looked at his body, "I don't think so."
Then Vein suddenly felt something connect as he worried, "What about the men? Are they okay?"
Rickel didn't answer but his pale face was enough of an answer.
Vein asked with a heavy voice, "How many?"
"We don't know yet but… it should be close to third of our force."
Vein clicked his tongue at that.
"Injured?"
"Many, but again, there isn't any count yet." Rickel said as Vein nodded.
"What about the enemy? How many of them are still walking?"
"Don't know but from what I've seen so far, not a lot."
Vein nodded as he thought of a plan, "Take those that could still walk and aren't injured much and tell them to capture the remaining bandits. They should be as battered out as us and it would be the best time for us to take care of them."
"Alright sir!" Rickel said and was about to leave but stopped, "What about those that are injured?"
"…Do what's good, rid them of their pain."
Rickel understood with a heavy face and saluted, "Understood sir!"
As Rickel left and Vein was about to move, another soldier came to him.
"Is there something?"
"Yes, sir. This is for you." The soldier gave him a piece of paper."
Vein took it, "What is this?"
"This is from Sir Tax."
"Sir Tax?" Vein couldn't quite get the name, "Who and what does he want at such a time?"
The soldier didn't say anything as Vein opened the letter and read it.
I hope you like the little support. The items are inside the base, right underneath the leader's toilet. Be careful though, there are some traps around.
Vein's eyes widened as he looked at the soldier and wanted to ask where this Tax person was. But the soldier already pointed above.
Tax looked and saw that atop a hillside stood a tall person. That person waved his hand before turning around and leaving.
Vein couldn't understand much beside smiling at the soldier.
"Tell him that we are most appreciative of his help."
