The Goddess Made A Mistake Again -
Chapter 382 - 382 - Helping Out Calvin Again
"What?"
It was Lucian who said that to me first before the navigator said the exact word.
"You wanna go ahead?" The Navigator asked Lucian.
"No, you go ahead."
"No, you go ahead, I was late."
"It's okay, you're our guide, you should speak."
"Again, you go. You're my senior."
Seeing the continuing 'You go ahead' and 'You can go ahead', one of the soldiers asked me, "Mind if I ask a question, sir?"
"Is it going to be same one these dumb-asses are trading for?" I point to Lucian and the Navigator.
"Yes"
"It's just I want to go there and check it out."
"Bu- But, there are enemies at that road." The Guide stammered.
"Which is the reason for my curiosity." I explain it to him, "Try to understand me, I want to go there and check it out and see what the fucks going on."
"We don't know the next place Calvin's going to strike and this could very well be the one." I point to the road ahead, "We can go there and check out how it looks like and warn Captain Calvin."
"How are we going to warn him?"
"One of the soldiers can go deliver it." I say and we three look at the soldiers who all nod in consent.
"Still, The Commander ordered us to go straight to Captain Klein's place. It would seem offending if we were to do the opposite and head straight for a bandit camp." Lucian said.
"That would be so, but the alternative could turn out to be beneficial for Calvin and his group. Though, the main point is that, Commander Seman ordered me to go to Captain Klein's, he didn't order any of you." I point to all of them.
"So if anyone's breaking orders here, it'll be me. You guys are just following me for protection."
Hearing me, Lucian who has the most negative reaction, couldn't find anything wrong with it.
"So what do you say?"
"Since that's what you're saying m'lord, we'll do that." The Guide said, "But please don't get yourself in danger, Lord Commander wouldn't let us go if that happens."
"Don't worry, that won't happen." I pat his shoulder while smiling, "If something happens to me, do you think you guys would have any better chance of survival."
That wasn't a question but a statement. One they couldn't refute back at.
So as I suggested, we moved through the clear road. According to the Guide, the road would lead straight to a Bandit Camp and warned us about sentries ahead.
Which was why, we started moving slowly, not causing much sound. I also had to crouch down a lot because of my tall height. I didn't want the first thing to greet me to be an arrow to the head.
As we walked quite a bit further, Reverence made soft noises.
I look at the old experienced horse and ask, "Is something wrong, old boy?"
"Henng" He neighed slowly.
"Is there something ahead?" He nodded to me.
"Wow, my lord, your horse is quite perceptive." The Guide exclaimed as Reverence felt proud.
Yes, he was.
Animals are more perceptive than humans and they could sense things. Even with my eyes, I would trust Sadie's senses more.
Man, I should have brought her with me.
"Alright, quiet down, let me look ahead." I say to them as they quiet down.
But after only a second later, they think about Henry's words and look at him strangely.
'How is he going to see anything from here?' They all thought that as they looked at the large number of trees ahead that blocked the view.
But I didn't care about them and focused ahead.
My eyes zooming in and looking through the hordes of trees before stopping at 1.7 kilometers ahead. There was a large base full of bandits at that place, somewhere around 140 bandits.
But that wasn't the only problem, because there were bandit sentries spread around the forest leading to the base ahead. There were approximately 18 bandits ahead that walked around and guarded the place while hidden traps meant to both alarm and injure others.
"Well, that's a bit of a pickle." I say as everyone felt even more confused until I told them what I saw. But it was only the part about there being some bandits and traps ahead, nothing about seeing a base.
Who would believe that I actually saw 1.7 kilometers ahead and counted the bandits inside a base? Though there are some sigmat rings that could help out with that, I didn't have one on me.
"You actually saw that far ahead?" Lucian asked about the sentries.
"Not really, my eyes just briefly captured some sketchy images ahead." I tell him.
"Images?"
"I meant figures."
Lucian nodded, finding something weird about that, "How do we take them?"
I look ahead again, "There's one just 200 meters ahead of us. We first take him out quietly. Then we disarm all the traps that we may find in our path, alright."
They all nodded and we move ahead.
…
A Bandit, wearing his usual half handed yellow Hawaiian shirt with three top open buttons was roaming his part of the jungle as usual. There was a butcher's knife by his waist and a red sigmat ring on his right index finger.
He sang a tune to rid of the boredom but not loud enough to alert his other companions. Just like every day, he was supposed to guard for four hours before changing with someone else and ending the day by banging some slave or playing cards.
Unfortunately, as the guy turned around and was about to reset the lap again, he felt a huge hand cover his face. The hand was so big that he could only see wisps of light and couldn't even get his voice out.
His first reaction was to quickly grab the butchers knife and stab the fucker who grabbed him. But that person already beat him to it and grabbed his hand as well.
Before the guy could think of his next move, the hand on his face moved and the bandit's head did a 360° turn and cracked before falling lifeless on the somewhat muddy ground.
"Well, that was easy." I say before pointing one soldier to a trap, "Disarm that trap."
He immediately heeds my command and disarmed the bear trap before joining us. Then we went to the next sentry who was just the same as the previous one.
This time I sent Lucian out. He silently went behind his back and plunged his sword in the bandit's back while covering his mouth. Then he lay the dead body down quietly.
Just like that, it didn't take long of us before we took care of the last sentry towards the journey to the base. There was one exception, the guy had a perceptive sigmat that allowed him to sense us coming and got alert.
But an arrow straight to the left eye did the trick.
"Hah and that's done." A soldier said, disarming a trap that would set a huge log swinging down from above. "Is there are more left, sir?"
I shook my head, "That should be the last one."
"Good, this should help out Captain Calvin's group immensely." Lucian said, nodding to a good day's work.
As I was checking around, I suddenly see something that confuses me.
"Why the hell are they here already?"
