Chapter 307: 5.11.4 Do it you coward.

Was she a coward?

No, far from it. She was the kind to jump straight into death if the situation calls for it. And even if it didn’t, the current her would still choose such an option.

’Saving me, is it?’ She thought before a hint of adventure rose in her again, which was actually closer to resistance toward the liar Jara who thinks he can mess with her life whenever he wants.

Was this a childish emotion? Definitely.

Sheva was old enough to know what she intended to do was stupid. And she wished to show this stupidity to Jara before she died. Crow did say that Jara would take part in this mission, making it the perfect opportunity for her to achieve her goal.

’A wonderful death.’ She thought, looking at the boy called Crow who remained oblivious of her thoughts. ’A wonderful death with some meaning... I can finally pay my debt.’

This was shooting three birds with one stone, and it would be stupid for her to not follow Crow into hell.

As for what that hell was, she didn’t speak a word for it. Not so soon.

She still has something she has to ask. "Are you sure you can survive this?"

"With others becoming my meat shield? My chances are higher than theirs.. Though it still depends on where we go."

"What about Max, who will take care of him if you were to never return?" This was her worry, she wanted to know what Crow was thinking.

Would he worry about him? Care how his master might die without him? What is going on in his mind to make such a selfish choice?

"No need to fear, there is a maid that works under my boss, making her a sort of companion I guess."

"But in simpler words, she will look over him for the next two weeks... I think that’s how long he has left to live anyway." Crow said with some melancholy. Which also turned Sheva’s mood a bit worse.

She had known for a while that he was going to die. The very fact that he had been alive was a miracle in her eyes. So she can’t ask for more. So she spoke about the past a bit, how the days went by, and how good Max was at what he did.

And Crow listened mostly for a bit, knowing full well that it was a kind way for Sheva to come to terms with his foreboding death.

"She is in the basement?"

"Refrigerated. They couldn’t return her to life."

"Can I look at her?"

"Wait, I will get Master on a wheelchair after dinner and clean him up. I will take you down then."

Sheva didn’t push for it. Although she didn’t know what it was like living with a person as disabled as Max, she understood that a lot of effort was needed to stay by their side and do simple chores like cleaning them.

And Crow did all of them without much complaint. Even feeding took an hour, but he never complained. "The maid really didn’t come today." Besides cursing the maid that has disappeared after last night.

Seems like, as long as Sheva is here, she doesn’t plan to come back. Or not allowed most likely.

Henry didn’t know what to do at this point.

’Go back to my old life?’ He considered Crow’s words for a bit. He really did think of trying to act as if everything was normal and then slowly forget about everything.

A hard thing to do for most, but not impossible considering he had confirmation that no one was after him anymore. So his paranoia was completely useless at this point.

It was why he went to school after a long while—met with some old friends who came to him filled with worry, asking the same repeating questions about why he was not in school. And some who had bothered to visit him at home asked if everything was alright as of now.

They worried for him because they cared. They were good friends who were happy to see him back. "Crow didn’t come?" He asked, acting oblivious to the events that had transpired in the school. But his friends just said to not talk about him as they were all suspicious that he had something to do with all the weirdness they had experienced not too long ago.

Not to mention, some incriminating rumors had been spread in the school, some driven by racism, while others driven by his weird personality.

"Just forget about him." They said, asking Henry to forget about the guy who fought alongside him and in a way, saved him and Rashid by putting himself in danger.

They wanted him to do what trash people do. And he was no trash. But unlike before, he would have burst into an emotional rant out of ignorance, he remained quiet and nodded his head. "Alright." Knowing full well how wrong and hurtful this action might seem to Crow.

But he was not here, nor will be here in the future. As he said, he was leaving this city and going on another mission. "Another mission... can only hope we meet again in different circumstances." Though he thought of such things, he knew full well that there were lies mixed in the words of Crow.

He was a man that could barely lie or do his job properly as the first few weeks, the crow was like a stone on the side, getting kicked by the bullies while Henry had remained oblivious over his existence, just like many others.

He didn’t even dare to approach Rashid and had been hiding on the side for a long time. And if not for the fateful day of asking him about his bullying, none of this would have changed.

’A bad liar.’

It’s why he was sure of it, something troublesome happened and Crow was just saying those words so that Henry forgets about all of this.

’A terrible liar.’

Turning around his class, he suddenly found everything meaningless. He knows it’s virtually impossible for him to go back to his old life. The most he can do is act like he did, but deep down he knows the truth.

For once the veil of normalcy comes off the eyes of a commoner, it’s impossible for them to get back into normal society.

The same was the case for many of the Radiant Eyes, who while being powerless chose to walk along transcended people by helping them in their own way.

And Henry was fleeing the same. As more time went on and the more he looked at the happiness and joy his other classmates were able to feel, all of it seemed distant to him who had been living in hell for the past month.

It felt unreal, as if he didn’t belong to this place, these people, that love who had a smile on her face when she looked at him.

She was happy that he was back in school.

But Henry, he knew in her heart that he couldn’t be happy anymore. Not until he had dealt with these problems by himself, instead of acting like a coward.

Just like before when he tried to help Rashid who was in need. Henry planned to do something similar this time. But unlike the case where he was in a way ’forced’ by Rashid into danger, he was going to do this with his own will.

It’s why he left the school early during the 4th period. His destination was Crow’s house.

And on his small walk, all he hoped was that Crow was still in his house, he never went away and was sitting still, waiting for him.

But what he was not aware of was that the woman who had scared him suddenly creased her brows while giving a deep look at Kaarath. "Seems like one of your students just couldn’t help himself."

"Beg your pardon?" Kaarath asked in some confusion, but Blue Rose just shook her head. "Nothing." She said, while her eyes went toward Henry again, before dropping directly over the house of Crow, who seemed to be changing his Master’s sheets. "This boy... I might have made the mistake of ignoring him."

"Isn’t it wonderful when things fall into place?" Owl asked his companions, who were overlooking the misery in the small town below with multiple priests and doctors working overtime to look after the patients.

"They just sent one of their Epidemiologist Mystics, and from the smoothness of her skin, not too high ranking as well."

"Oh shut up Minat, it’s good that they sent at least one of them. Which is enough for us." Owl said with a smile on his face before he turned to look behind the bodyguard of this Doctor who came for the visit. "The trouble remains that guy, we can’t harm him considering our goal, nor let him be suspicious after we do our thing on his precious."

"Mini, for now. Keep watch over them, learn their working patterns, and see to it if there are others following them, protecting that doctor from hiding."

Mini nodded, while being silent as always.

"As for Scart." Owl said, while looking toward his companion that kept sneezing while being a distance away from the group. " Considering you are partially infected anyways, why don’t you go down and collect some hair samples of those two? Might just come handy in future."

"At least give me some time to rest."

"Rest is for the wicked. Go and do your job."
