Chapter 290: 5.06.1 Oh, hey there old friend.

Was it a dream or an illusion, Remira can’t tell. Her bloodline that had fought off the influence of a Daemon had failed to stop such mental illusion, dragging her into a world of unknown past.

What was it? Why was she shown all of this? And what purpose did this hold at this very moment?

Remira can’t speak anything of it, she just saw the city slowly turning prosperous, while the sacrifices in the newly opened temple sanctum of the monument increased in amount.

Evil, she can feel immense evil from the Altar. And the closer she got to it, the stronger that feeling became.

"Pick her." Then a sound came to her right, she found herself in a group looking toward a stage where priests wearing pure white pointed toward her, causing the men around her to grab onto her and drag her to the podium as well.

’??" She tried to struggle, but it was as if all the strength in her body had disappeared at this very moment. ’No...’ And she knew what was in fate for the girl that she has become, she had seen similar sacrifices before, and from the looks of it, it was her turn.

’No... she won’t dare.’ And it took just a second for Remira to calm down her mind.

If it was some mortal opponent or a powerful mage, Remira might have tried something, she might have done her best to break from this cage like presence of her and take control of her body. But considering who brought her here, she knew that there is little a Daemon can do to her as she was chosen by someone much greater than Daemon of Incarnation, the Blue Rose.

So she let the scene play out, watching the process one by one,how she was fed differently, how she was bathed and tattooed by the clerics of the newly formed temple.

And it was during the tattoo ceremony that she noticed a glyph that stood out from the rest, a glyph she had been familiar with.

"Root." It meant Root in the ancient Elvish.

’Is this the church of Root and Harvest?’ Until now, she was not able to ascertain who the ruins belonged to, or what they signified. And due to their nature, it was hard for the modern people to dare go into it and explore it, unless they wished for death or adventure.

"The root in Root and Harvest stands for the home of a person, the place where they belong, the place where they come back to, no matter how far they go."

"Return to origin in simpler words."

"That is Root." This was all she knew about this foreign church. A church older than The Knights, belonging to one of the ancient gods that had exist in the days of totems as well.

"Tattoo, totems... It’s the ancient way of ascendance, the flawed path." Of course, the ones sacrificed were always just superficially tattooed before they were fed to the temple. And Remira got the chance to experience every bit of it before she was dragged on th altar, and then her skull was crushed by the very same oval stone she had seen before.

*Bang

With a strike, Remira felt her mind go numb, but there were no fluctuation in her emotions as her head was crushed and turned to paste.

And then as expected, the world turned bright and she found herself standing in front of a door, along with a shivering young boy and another one who panicked and tried to help his friend up.

"Lady?" Then as if he saw a ghost, the boy backed off after looking at Remira who appeared out of nowhere. "Please, we don’t mean any harm.." Henry cried while trying to help Rashid get away from Remira.

Thinking she might be one of them, the one who turned his friend into this. A babbling idiot who seemed to be in shock and unaware of his surroundings.

"It hurts." He cried while holding his head, letting Remira know the boy also went through something similar. Meaning that she was not as special, this might be a test of sorts that everyone needs to go through from.

Though, if that was the case, why is the other white skin boy still fine? Was his mental faculty so strong that he recovered way faster than her and was able to ignore all that pain?

No, the boy didn’t seem to go through anything, his body was clean, unlike the other boy with darker skin who was on the ground, filled with traces of a daemon.

"Don’t worry, I am not going to harm him." Remira knew who they were.

She had followed their smell before, so it was not a surprise to find them here, the very friends that Crow fought together with.

"But it seems you don’t believe me..." Remira saw from the eyes of Henry that he still had his guard up. Not a wrong choice considering the current scenario.

"I met your friend before, he told me about you two, hence I am here..." With those words, the sword of Remira lit with white flames. "I am a Radiant Knight."

At the mention of Radiant Knight, Henry didn’t loosen his guard one bit, he still looked at her with suspicions... No, he was even more guarded than before.

’They did say something like this might happen if I were to expose my identity.’

Though before Remira could try to calm down the boy, the door opened and an old grizzled voice came from the host. "Henry, stop it. She is not the one to cause Rashid such harm."

"Professor?" Suddenly finding a familiar face, Henry calmed down for a bit. His simple mind didn’t consider what he meant by the "She is not the one" claim.

He just thought he was out of trouble.

But sad for him, it was just starting.

"Please come in as my guest, I have been waiting for you." A kind voice came from inside the door, a voice that awakened Rashid from his stupor, surprising Henry, who helped Rashid got up on his feet, before turning to look inside, thankful.

"Rashid... are you fine?" Henry asked, giving Remira a deep look before asking his friend whom he came with.

"Yes... Thanks Henry."

With those words, Henry helped Rashid inside, who didn’t mention a thing that just happened to him a moment ago. It was his choice to remain silent don’t panic. Giving Remira a cursory glance and knowing she was Radiant Knight, he turned a bit mute, before entering the professor’s home, while keeping his head down and not daring to look at the figure that sat at the sofa.

"Sir Knight, if you please?" The professor asked, his eyes a bit panicked over Remira’s blade, which she instinctively took out when she heard the voice of the woman inside.

But then seeing how stupid her panic was, she placed it back in her seat, before following the duo of Henry and Rashid, who has found themselves a small seat on the right of the woman.

A woman holding a porcelain tea cup with a captivating smile.

"Finally! We meet face to face." The woman said, putting down her cup, as she gestured Remira to sit on the sofa right in front of her.

But Remira didn’t dare to do such a thing, no, she was more curious about what she saw before, the dream or illusion, whatever it was, she wished to know why she was shown such a bizarre thing.

"We will have a discussion when everyone is here, till then, enjoy the tea and snacks." With such words, Remira’s questions were ignored and she silently, like a puppet, sat down in her position while giving a cursory glance at the two boys who remained seated in their chair, not daring to even breathe.

A feeling that Remira felt herself.’

And it was not due to some outside power suppressing her nor was the influence of Blue Rose trying to claw its way in.

There was nothing beside the psychological pressure that she felt for the first time in her life.

Suffocation of the kind that was hard to determine.

"You are better than those two." The woman madea comment while looking at Remira. Which was understandable considering she was the chosen of the First Knight and a powerful Master level existence.

Though, that was not what Irked Remira, it was her next words. "But not as good as Professor." That suddenly startled her.

She can see, he was a mere mortal holding no special scent at all.

He was someone with no protection in mystical or magical aspects or so was the limit of Remira’s perception.

"This is the only intact corpse I could find."

"... Well, I need his mouth and feet anyways, the left hand also seems to work. So no worries. Inject the drugs and put my mark on it, I will be using this one."

That was the conversation I had with Kanha just a while ago, and now I was here in the streets that appeared normal to the simple eyes, but I could see something huge hanging above it, whose eye was the only discernible thing here.

’She is here with her true body.’

This is going to be troublesome, that is for certain. I turned my head away from the eyes that stared at my body, before walking up to the house of an old professor, and then ringing the doorbell.

And as the door opened, a smile suddenly appeared on my face. "Oh Kairut, long time no see."
