Chapter 268: 4.11.6 Epilogue: The end.
"Pardon my words, but I don’t see a reason for cooperation if we can learn everything from that girl behind you. Not to mention, she is a criminal, the cause of many tragedies, it won’t do Knight any good if you choose to protect her."
The Greater enemy behind all of this?
The general didn’t care. For he knew that if he let Remira sway the conversation, it would become harder for him to earn any achievements by himself.
No, they will be pushed elsewhere as someone more diplomatic takes over his space and comes for negotiations over this so-called "being" that Remira has spoken about.
But his selfishness was one thing, the reason he chose to use such harsh words against someone like Remira was something else. ’A human dares to negotiate here?’
One shouldn’t forget where they were, this was the country of Dwarves, it was their lands with their laws. How dare a Human try to put up conditions and try to save a terrorist right in front of his face?
If not for this human’s identity, he would have long put her cuffs and thrown her in jail, along with the terrorist on the charges of harboring a criminal.
No, he can even do so now, but he didn’t dare to due to Remira’s identity.
"I would suggest you pass her over to us. And I promise that no harm would come to her as long as she speaks the truth."
Red on the other hand nodded to this suggestion, he needed someone like this. Someone who could act as the bad cop in this routine, albeit out of ignorance. "Knight Remira, I would also make a suggestion. Give her to me and I promise to involve you in the investigations " It was his way of obtaining Remira’s knowledge on the subject, while also getting his hands on Sheva.
It was a suggestion that even Kolkus was surprised by.
He knew who Red was and what happened to his old partner, now a criminal on the run. If it was anyone else in his place, they would be highly suspicious of humans at the moment. Not to mention, CBI’s whole job was to ensure the security of this nation, so working with a foreigner was something akin to a snake working with a weasel.
"This is one troublesome offer." Remira knew that keeping her promise was becoming harder and harder.
Then again, why should she keep a promise with someone who worked for Jester? Why would one choose to do that?
This is not being rational, it’s being emotional and she doesn’t know why she had the urge to protect this woman.
What was the reason?
She wondered, recalling the scene of how she made the promise and what her original plan was.
’Was it to learn the true identity of that man?’ She wondered, before shaking her head. That won’t be the reason. She has made some awful choices out of rationale where others have been harmed.
All of them were made to reach a particular result that seemed correct at that time.
Just like the time in the sewers when she had spoken some harsh words to a Radiant Knight, who lost his life saving her.
’What was it?’ Knowing that she can’t find the reason why her brain hurts whenever she tries to make a choice. She couldn’t help but say. "I am to choose between the infamous torturers," She said while looking toward Red, who had promised her involvement in the case.
Then her words turned toward the General, "And the Military."
From what Remira knew, among the choices that she had been given, although she liked none. She understood that letting Sheva be lost in the hands of CBI is not much different than sending her to a butcher’s knife.
CBI were beings who had the right to do anything to their prisoners, as long as it brought them closer to their goals, and killing is one of the most painless things among their deeds.
They don’t have to answer to anyone, which in turn makes them ruthless to the extreme and dangerous to all.
And Remira knows that if not for her strength, Red might not appear as amiable as he does now.
She can’t trust someone who doesn’t even dare to mention his true name. It was the mentality of a coward who wishes to distance themselves or their true self from the deeds of their other self.
Something she looked down upon, even though she herself used a false surname.
While the Military on the other hand had so many people to answer to. They won’t dare pull something out of character unless they hope to write reports after report and apologies after apology.
"Knight Remira, I didn’t expect to meet you here." It was then that the Old dwarf with golden hair entered the scene, attracting all the attention.

"She is here?" From the distance, Kassandra spoke, while looking at Remira’s figure. But she didn’t dare to close in at all.
"Who?" Anna the Tower Master of Contracts, asked, but Kassandra said nothing but looked in the distance. "Another fool in his game." She spoke, before explaining what she saw to Anna who had chosen to come here together with her.
"Sir Jeremy, it would seem there is someone that can identify us. So we won’t be coming with you to the meeting." Kassandra spoke before Anna looked deeply into her friend’s eyes.
She had no relation with the Church of Red Sun. Just a guest that was tagged along with Kassandra who was employed by them. But it didn’t mean she was blind.
With this much info and the disaster that happened here, she already assumed that she had come to the right place.
And seeing the Knight leave to meet up with other leaders, in the distance. Anna couldn’t help but say. "That Knight can be counted as useful. Why don’t you meet up with her, she might turn out to be useful with her abilities."
"There is a reason why I chose to work with the Sun Knights instead of The Radiant Knights," Kassandra spoke, before recalling her past and how she had been hunted just because of her relation with Jester.
"Again with that silence, not going to tell me the reason?" Anna smiled before a small bird flew to her shoulder and whispered something in her ear. Words that made her forget everything about this present conversation.
"Kass, my children seem to have found someone not too far away from here... hiding using a peculiar ability that is impossible for mortal eyes to detect."
’Hmm?’ At those words, Kassandra knew that this might be her chance.
"We shouldn’t call others. Us two should be enough."
"Of course, I didn’t wish to startle the snake myself."
With those words, the two left the scene.
Going toward someone who had thought he had fooled the world.
But his luck seems to come to an end here.

"It would seem your captain won’t be coming back for now," I spoke to Baldar, who was already close to escaping the bastards that were in pursuit of him.
"Does it mean, I am the captain now?"
"Yes... there is none as strong or smart as you... for now, that is." At my mention of ’For now.’, I did notice a hint of dissatisfaction on his face. But this was the truth and the new member of our party is close to awakening as well. "Hey, you are captain for now at least, so rejoice, enjoy the feeling of being the true leader, and not just in name."
"I was already leading the Team, even with the Captain present in the scene."
"Hey now, Carp is way smarter than you might think, he is just disturbed and unstable. So his genius might not appear at the forefront that often."
"But when push comes to shove, you won’t believe the kind of things he is capable of pulling."
"A mere curse user, he couldn’t even become an Exorcist. And you want me to believe he is smart?"
"Of course he is. But I can see why you might have suspicions. Even I will be as surprised as you if I were in your place."
"But you haven’t seen him in action yet. Not the one with his body, but with his brain."
"If you don’t believe me, I am even ready to make a bet."
"What kind of bet?"
"He will return, it might happen in a few months or years..."
"No, you have to set up a time limit, otherwise this bet won’t work."
"Then I give it two years. You have one year of full leadership to handle, then One year to your successor, before the original captain comes back."
Unaware of it, Baldar didn’t notice how cold he had become, how distracted he was at the moment.
I can’t help but look forward to the future now. Would he become a box of chocolates, bringing me joy with every bite, or mine that would end up destroying me.
Only the future will tell.

In another part of the world, Farhad looked at his sleepy sister, before glaring at the old dwarf again. "Tell me, why were you working for him.?"
