Chapter 257: 4.10.1 The nuisance.

"You bitch, I didn’t do this, he was this way when I came here." Vegal cursed as he saw the broken body of Baldar that didn’t materialize once again.

’He left?’ He knew that the bastard was not dead.

None Of the Infernals were easy to kill, even the Flames of Devotion were completely useless in front of those pervy creatures.

Meaning only one thing. "Clown, you lied to me." He cried as he deflected Remira’s attack, who had turned berserk after seeing the state of Farhad’s body.

As old and foul-mouthed Vegal was at the moment, it didn’t mean he lost his cool. He can see through the little games and easily infer that something was wrong at this point.

A conclusion he came to after noticing a pattern since escaping for the first time. Remira had caught up to him too fast and it irked him. But considering who Carp was, it was not that surprising for him to be defeated.

The pattern became noticeable when he turned his body and rushed toward his precious little disciple. Crow, the boy that meant so much to him. In an effort to save that boy, Jester sends another fishing line to the drowning Vegal. And with no option in hand besides pushing the trouble to someone else, he took it again.

This was a trap by Jester, and he had fallen for it. But why would he do such a thing?

Why would Jester abandon him, who had so much to give, in place of a random boy who was pushed on him?

A conspiracy. Vegal was not just a simple researcher, since the betrayal of the company and his apparent assassination, he had become more sensitive to suspicion points than before. He had become more dangerous in a way.

And he proved it.

"Sir Knight, stop it... There is no need for us to fight.’ As he spoke, vegal covered his head with his arm and stopped attacking Remira. Who, although a bit worried over what this dwarf might do or what kind of weapons he might create out of his hands again, she created some distance and asked. "What do you mean?"

"I promise, I had nothing to do with that man. He was like that when I came here." Remira found it hard to believe the words of this old dwarf who had shown her something she never imagined in her whole life.

His hands spit fire, his legs contained explosive punch and his whole body was covered in electricity, so direct contact with him would conduct the thunder through Remira’s sword and shock her.

A dangerous being that didn’t make sense in Remira’s eyes as the man didn’t exude any vitality as he used his skills, like a silent assassin who can explode with great violence and then hide back in the crowd without any latent after effects.

He was a dangerous man.

And who knows how long it would take Remira to take him down. So the only sensible option was to listen to him and try to glean any important information she could.

Not to mention, when she had found these two with Farhad, none of them had any limbs with them, there was no smell of burning flesh, but there were a few smells spread around the area. The actual killer must be at one of those trails. So if the words of this dwarf were to be believed, then he might really be pitted by Jester.

But this still doesn’t change the reality that Vegal at the end of the day was working with the subordinate of Jester. A subordinate who should still be alive.

’If this dwarf was so important, then there should be others protecting him here.’ She can’t find any sign of Owl or any other member of Jester’s church at the moment. Something was definitely odd here.

"Speak, who was that man with you, and what is your relationship with the clown," Remira asked but Vegal, still protecting his head with his arm, hurried. "I am under contract, so I can’t give you many details. All Sir Knight needs to know is that something odd is going on in the middle of the forest, the clown probably used me as bait to keep you away from it."

A bait throwing a bait to the fish, would it work?

Of course not. Not when the body of Farhad was so close by.

’Hmm??’

It was then that Remira noticed something. Although it’s been only two minutes since she came here, she acutely remembers that the regeneration of Farhad had become perverse as time went by.

She focused her senses on his body, she checked to confirm if there was something impeding his regeneration. But nothing, there was nothing here.

With her eyes opened wide, Remira shouted. "Move and you won’t be able to stop me anymore." A clear threat to Vegal, who was regretting his life choices at that very moment.

’What not move, the bastards from Bothal should be here any minute now.’

He needs to move and hide in a place where no one can find him. And not be forced to stay out in the open, easily noticeable by the bastards that will be out for his blood. Not now at least.

’That clown should have a place to hide for his people. There is no way he will let his people die so easily here.’

There was no other village for miles and when the transcendent of Pulgasari arrived here, they would still travel for miles and closer villages to check for any intruders.

So it’s impossible for Jester to send his men out randomly at such an inopportune time.

’It should be close, but not too close.’

And while Vegal was having such thoughts, Remira approached Farhad’s body and to the baffled eyes of Vegal, she stabbed Farhad on the forehead.

"Nothing." She said while cutting Farhad’s head again. "No response..." Before she could finish though, the body of Farhad started to shrink right in front of her eyes, before turning into a small sack doll with broken limbs and head.

"What is this?" She wondered for a bit, before looking in the four directions of the smell trails she could detect.

No, she can’t expect much at this point.

Whether this was Farhad’s doing or the doing of Jester’s men, who knew her all too well, she can’t say. But following blindly depending on smell alone, now that was a different matter altogether.

’The hair?’ It was then that Remira noticed a hair on the doll. ’Can it work?’ she wondered, before putting it in her pocket and then turning toward Vegal.

"Lead me to that ritual’s position." Dealing with Farhad comes later. There was something more important here.

Knowing what happened in Durum, and how Jester was trying to keep her away from a certain place. Remira knew that stopping it took priority. Who knows how many others would die due to it?

"I can’t do it." But Vegal denied it.

"Speak your next words carefully. This is your last chance."

"Under contract, he helped me and I helped him. A great exchange. But it also means that I can’t harm him as long as the contract exists."

"He just harmed you, isn’t that reason enough?" Remira was obviously pointing out how he was used as mere bait to lure her in the wrong direction, but Vegal could only smile pathetically. "It’s not an equal contract, I was desperate then and signed it."

"Then you serve no purpose?" Remira took out her burning sword, readying herself to end this dwarf. But Vegal was in no mood to fight, he just screamed. "The boy spoke about the oldest and tallest tree in the jungle, I presume it should be easy to find it."

"And how do I make sure you are not lying?"

"You can’t," Vegal explained. "But we have to take some chances, just like I did before when I chose to talk instead of fighting you."

A trap, the sly tongue of a snake. Vegal knew how to deal with these Knights, how to distract them with words.

Now it all depends on Remira, what would she choose?

An arrow in the dark or ending this dwarf who obviously had connections with Jester, right here and right now?

Of course, Remira would choose the former. ’His smell, I will remember it.’ With those thoughts, she left the area.

There is no time to dally here any longer. The more time she wastes here, the bigger the problem might become.

Not to mention, she had some inkling about the direction she should be moving.

’I just had to go in the direction the Dwarf was going the second time.’

The direction she thought of was the one that Vegal planned to go after setting the forest on fire.

And to my dismay, this was bad news.

’You bastard. I was happy when he said to go in the direction of the tall tree.’

At this very moment, that tallest tree had long fallen and if Remira had looked for it now, she might have gone in the wrong direction, wasting more time. But not anymore.

Her movements and words never really matched and she was starting to become a nuisance.

A boring piece that is here to ruin all the fun.

Well, no worries though, what happened has happened. I can’t do much at this point. She is unstoppable at this moment. Like an adult who joined the fight between a bunch of kids.

So wrong, this was so boring.

I hate her.
