Chapter 251: 4.08.6 A fools trap.
They smelled like mortals and acted like one as well, but their movements were bizarre. On the other hand, she also came to notice something.
"They smell much different."
With those words, she moved.
One smelled a bit rotten, not odd considering there was a butcher in the village. What differed between the two was the taste of both smells. Which when added to previous odd movements, finally ensured Remira was suspicious.
So she rushed. She ran toward what she considered to be the oddities in the village, and although they might just be innocent. Their actions still made her eyebrows twist.
Leaving me with no choice but to warn them.
If Vegal was alone, things might have been manageable, a proper excuse might have helped. But not now, not in this place. Humans were only common occurrences in the big Dwarven cities in Pulgasari, not in villages like this. Not to mention, this human was ugly, suffering from who knows how many diseases. Or just a victim of a curse.
No, his looks screamed of a curse wielder.
"Ah Sheesh Mister Vegal, guess we have to part now." In those words, Vegal didn’t question much. He already had been informed of the location and considering that Carp was a mere Adept grade Curse Wielder, he would never be able to keep up with him, who possessed the strength of Master grade.
So he flew and disappeared, as there was no reason to hold back anymore.
As for why Carp gave such a suggestion, it was easy to see in such a situation. The Knight was after them. No matter how they hide, completely removing their presence was not in their skillset.
So Carp chose to stay, although he was not treated as close as the team one was treated, in my eyes he was as important as them. And if not for his mental problems along with the fact that he was never in the orphanage where he got some proper training, he would have become part of team one, just like others chosen.
But Carp’s fate was something else, instead of being an exorcist, he was someone much worse, and matching his deposition, he obtained similar abilities.
Then with simple words such as "Deceive the Mind And aura." he aimed at himself, striking himself with his own curse power, and with a simple burst, he turned childlike. Almost inert and foolish. Even the little burst of curse energy in his body disappeared at once.
Soon after Remira reached the area, seeing a foolish ugly human with beggar-like clothes wandering around like an animal. When she saw Remira’s flaming white hair, got scared and rushed to hide in the bush.
"This?" Remira didn’t know what she was seeing, the dwarf who was with this man had disappeared. Though from the steps and aura he left, not too long ago at a pace unlike that of a mortal.
Then what about this man?
Should she question him? Should she ask for someone to look after him?
She had no such thoughts, she just rushed to him, ignoring his screaming and thrashing, before picking him up with her arm and then ripping a part of his sleeves.
"This?" She could feel a hint of curse on the man, his childlike nature and weak stature were unlike that of a normal person. And considering how he had been abandoned by the dwarf, one can think what happened here.
"A dwarven Mystic?" She wondered, before wondering if she should kill the obviously pained man or not. Before shaking her head.
A victim can’t be treated like a criminal. The dwarf probably left his experiment here in fear that he would be slowed down, treating the man as nothing more than baggage. And if she were to be distracted by such a thing, she would probably lose the trace of the Dwarf.
Though it didn’t mean she was going to leave this poor man alone, she rushed to the site, found one of the hidden dwarven men, and then ordered him. "If you don’t wish to die, follow the others out... and bring him with you."
Like a war goddess, each movement carried immense authority, and the drunk dwarf who had been confused over what was going on, shook in agreement while he woke up from his sleep.
The thought of how disgusting and ugly this human was never came to him, he just placed the thin weird man on his back and rushed out of the scene, leaving Remira to do her own deed, which was to follow Vegal.
Just like I had expected.
Words don’t matter unless they are backed by contracts, this is the kind of world this was. And in my eyes, although Vegal was pretty useful, he was not actually as important in my eyes as Carp.
It’s rare for one to find someone talented enough to control three powerful curses all at once. And even rare for someone to use them to deceive a being like the Radiant Knights, who were considered the bane of Curse Wielders.
Wasn’t it wonderful?
Hence the act in order to counter the rash actions of Remira.
Vegal was a Master Rank, and although weaker than Remira, he still had many ways of self-preservation anyways, so why let him shoulder the burden, while he takes out Vegal from the mix, who was obviously poorly mismatched with Remira?

The possessed Crow didn’t notice the light that exploded not too far off from him, he was completely focused on the tree, a being that was in a way part of him and his master together.
A relationship that formed out of nowhere, which when cut with the axe harmed him as well as his master too.
"This is horrible." Although she can’t see it clearly in the cover of darkness, she can feel that something was wrong with Max, who out of nowhere was barely standing in his place, while the same was the situation with Crow.
And when Max suddenly stumbled on the ground, she got out of her cover and rushed toward Max. But before she could, she was held back by someone.
"Why in a hurry... do you truly wish for them to die?"
"You..." She said in anger while looking at her old friend, whose burn injuries have somewhat recovered, still leaving him scarred. "Max seems to be dying already, don’t you want the boy to succeed? If Max died."
"Then he dies, the Boy has nothing to do with us, we are only here due to the request of our partner."
"At least be consistent with your goal. You wasted so much time on that and now you are going to abandon it all so easily?"
"You must not be blind, your eyes were like that of a hawk, you must have seen that light as well."
"..."
"The partner was there along with my captain. An unexpected occurrence. But Knowing my Master and his love for my captain, I can already see the fate of that Co-conspirator. Won’t you wish to see it as well?" Jara put his hand forward, a gesture he had made multiple times in the past and this time, it held the same meaning.
A meaning that had been lost in time and something that Sheva never caught on to. "Enjoy that misery to yourself, I will choose to remain here." She said, and refusing to acknowledge his warnings, she made her way toward Max again. But then, she stopped. What about his daughter? Didn’t you speak of her before?"
"..." Seeing that he had been ignored again, and hiding the hand he offered back in his pocket, he spoke in a kind tone. "She will come, but not now... we can’t trust him that her existence won’t cause him to have some other thoughts."
There is a selfish reason why Max is doing the inheritance ceremony. With each inheritance comes a goal, a desire ingrained into the creed of the newborn by the previous owner. And that desire will be key which would push Crow to take Max’s revenge for him.
On the other hand, if he left the corruption of the god spread through his body, the old god with Thousands Faces might revive himself in Max’s body. While his death will be the only escape.
But for some odd reason, Max understood that death this way would be way worse than one might imagine. So he didn’t dare to kill himself. Of course, this death would also be the least impactful and it might just cut off the legacy of his bloodline and the curse that comes with it.
A bad ending for him, but a good one for the world.
An ending that he didn’t wish to see.
But what if his daughter was alive in a different form?
The answer to it was simple. His desire for revenge would die down and knowing that there is no stopping his corruption, and in order for a better future, he might just choose oblivion. His own death instead of passing the burden to someone else.
