Chapter 63: Thunderstorm City: The Spear of Blood and Nature

The dwarf grinned, pride clear in his eyes.

"Lad, this spear is one of my best works. The shaft and blade are opposites—one hungers for blood and destruction, while the other is in harmony with nature itself."

Alex gripped the spear. It hummed faintly in his hand, as if recognizing him.

He turned to leave without a word—heat crawling over his skin—and without giving the dwarf a chance to ask for more credits.

Alex crossed the bridge leading to the outer tower. With Hati silently padding beside him, he made his way toward the lone teleportation portal—the same one he had first arrived through. It was the only active gate connecting to the world outside.

As they neared the circle, he saw the others already gathered.

The vice principal stood at the center, hands behind his back. Riven Veylor stood beside Lyra Duskthorn, his gaze unreadable. Nearby, Kaelan Ignis was chatting with Meika Noctshade and Rina Roarhart. They were laughing together, light and relaxed.

But the moment Alex stepped onto the platform—his spear wrapped in black cloth slung casually over his shoulder—all eyes turned toward him.

Rina waved and approached him with a smile. "What took you so long?"

Alex smiled back. "Had to pick up my spear from the forge."

Hati barked once, as if in confirmation.

The vice principal clapped his hands sharply, drawing everyone’s attention.

"Alright! Everyone assigned to this mission is here. Let’s move. I’ll lead you to the dimension portal. It’s a public zone—hunters from all walks of life will be there, so stay alert."

He glanced at Riven and added, "Those not assigned to this mission, please step off the teleportation circle."

Riven nodded stiffly. He stepped forward and stopped between Alex and Kaelan, his tone suddenly icy.

"If either of you lays a hand on Lyra..." His voice dropped lower. "I’ll shred you to pieces."

Alex looked him straight in the eye, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "That’s quite amusing," he said. "A predator trying to protect his prey."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the atmosphere cracked.

Everyone froze.

Rina gasped and covered her mouth. Kaelan chuckled under his breath, clearly entertained.

Even the vice principal struggled to suppress his laughter.

Meika smirked, nodding slightly. For the first time, she felt someone truly understood Riven.

Lyra narrowed her eyes but said nothing.

Riven, however, stood stunned. The insult echoed in his mind before it finally settled in. His violet eyes flared with fury.

Before he could explode, the vice principal gave a subtle nod to the guards at the gate. They stepped forward, each grabbing one of Riven’s arms.

"Let go!" Riven growled, but they dragged him aside effortlessly.

Just then, a brilliant purple light enveloped the teleportation circle—and in a flash, the students vanished.

Only Riven remained.

He stared at the now-empty circle, his breath shallow, his rage palpable. His aura flared dangerously—until one of the guards leaned in and said coldly:

"Student, if you harm the teleportation circle in any way, you will be expelled from the academy. There are no exceptions... not even for the Ten Great Clans."

Riven stood trembling. His clenched fists drew blood from his palms.

Unable to contain himself, he turned and stormed back toward the bridge. Reaching its center, he threw back his head and screamed.

His voice echoed—but was quickly swallowed by the crashing of waves against the cliffs far below.

As Alex vanished into the teleportation circle, a familiar warmth embraced him—but this time, it felt different. The warmth evoked a strange, almost nostalgic longing within him. When he reappeared, he stood in a white hall surrounded by tall pillars, the teleportation formation glowing faintly beneath his feet. The feeling faded, leaving only a lingering emptiness. Beside him, Hati stared blankly into the void.

Kaelan scowled. "I hate this damned feeling of teleportation. Always makes me dizzy."

The others nodded, their faces pale. Even the Vice Principal looked a bit unsteady, though he quickly composed himself.

"Let’s not dawdle here," he said. "Let’s move."

They exited the hall.

Crackling!

Another crack!

One after another, the thunder rumbled loudly. Instinctively, everyone crouched—except for the Vice Principal. Even Hati lowered himself beside Alex.

The Vice Principal looked at the crouching students and laughed heartily. His bald head and scruffy beard made him look more like a jester than a teacher.

"Relax! This is Thunderstorm City. It’s always surrounded by thunder. That sound you hear is normal here. This is the territory of Stormgaze City, governed by the Mythical Eagle Clan."

The students glared at him. Kaelan snapped, "You could’ve warned us!"

The Vice Principal just laughed, his voice echoing along with the thunder. "That would’ve ruined the fun, wouldn’t it?"

Alex looked around. The houses were neat and clean, each with a small garden. It reminded him of the inner noble district in Romania City.

The Vice Principal’s tone shifted as he grew serious. "We need to register at the Hunter’s Guild for a mission in the middle zone. After that, we head to the mountains—outside the outer zone—where the dimensional portal is located."

After registering at Hunter guild in the middle zone they moved toward outer zone. As they moved to the outer zone, Alex noticed the narrow, dusty streets and houses made of clay and woven plants. Children played in rags. Food stalls offered monster meat, sharp weapons, herbs, and more. Commoners ran these stalls, barely scraping by.

Alex saw how the people bowed and cleared the path for them. Kaelan wore a scowl, Rina looked visibly displeased, Lyra scrunched her nose in distaste, and even frowned. Only Meika’s eyes sparkled with curiosity as she observed everything.

Alex felt something shift inside. He realized he had always lived like these people—fighting just to survive. Nobles lived, while commoners merely survived.

They passed through the large city gates, beyond which mountains stretched endlessly. Trees clawed up the slopes, while thunder constantly struck the peaks, as if the heavens themselves were warning, "How dare you reach for the skies?"

The air rumbled with energy.

"Be on your guard!" the Vice Principal shouted over the noise. "Thunder can strike at any moment. This area is dangerous. We won’t go deep—the dimensional portal is on the outskirts!"

"Follow me!" he called out, before sprinting toward one of the mountains.

The students followed him, running.

RUMBLE!

A bolt of thunder struck nearby. Everyone froze, eyes wide.

"DON’T STOP!" the Vice Principal shouted.

They pushed themselves harder.

Soon, Alex saw a crowd gathered at the base of the mountain, surrounded by dense trees. As they neared, the Vice Principal slowed and stopped in front of the gathering.

The students arrived shortly after and collapsed to the ground, catching their breath.

Alex remained standing, scanning the surroundings cautiously. There was no thunder in this area.

Noticing this, the Vice Principal smiled. "Don’t worry. This area is safe—free from thunder."

After a brief rest, the Vice Principal led them forward. A shimmering portal came into view, swirling with purple light. The crowd parted to let them through.

Hunters in the crowd stared openly at the girls, their eyes filled with lust.

The Vice Principal’s voice boomed with authority. "These are students of the Elemental Excellence Academy. If any of you think you can lay a hand on them, think again."

His glare swept over the crowd like a blade.

They approached the massive circular portal.

Turning to face them, the Vice Principal said, "Your mission is to explore the runes and document everything you find. Any new discovery will be rewarded."

"This dimension was discovered fifty years ago. No dimensional key has ever been found—it always remains open. It’s public because there aren’t many resources inside."

He paused and asked, "Any questions?"

None replied.

"Alright then," he said. "Enter the dimension. I’ll be here waiting for your return."

One by one, the students stepped into the swirling portal, until only Alex remained. He looked back once, then entered with Hati right behind him.As they passed through the portal, they appeared in front of a ruined city. Tall buildings loomed in the distance, neat roads stretched before them small houses were arranged in perfect order. The tallest building shimmered, reflecting light from a sky that was lit—yet no sun could be found anywhere.

Nature had reclaimed the ruins. Vines crept over the houses, and trees forced their way up between cracks in the stone.

As they walked through the city, they saw hunters wandering about—some entering houses at random, others emerging with disappointed faces.

Kaelan stepped ahead of the group, a smug smile on his face.

"Let’s first decide who will be the leader of the group," he said.

The others, who had been absorbed in observing the ruined city, turned their heads toward him.

Meika stepped forward and spoke in a neutral tone. "Let’s do a vote."

Kaelan placed his hands behind his back and replied, "That won’t be necessary. I’ll be your leader. I led our camp in the Chaos Forest too, so I have experience."
