Chapter 62: Magic Academy Life: Rebel Club, Dimensional Missions, and a Lazy Wolf
Three Months Later
Three months passed in the blink of an eye.
In the classroom, at the last desk near the window, a young man with refined features and messy white hair falling to his shoulders sat alone. Sprawled across his desk, a massive wolf lay in peaceful slumber. Its smooth grey fur covered its back, while its underbelly shimmered with sleek, purple fur. Its tail—grey at the base, purple at the tip—gently wagged across the desk, content. Its eyes remained shut, breathing soft and steady.
Alex glanced at the sleeping beast and sighed inwardly.
This lazy guy still hasn’t developed any elemental power... even after growing this huge.
At least I’ve made progress.
I reached the sixth circle in Dark Element just yesterday. I’ve refined my elemental core. Now, I can control my power more efficiently... especially with the Serpent’s Fang.
His thoughts were interrupted by two familiar figures walking toward his desk.
Selene and Rina—so different in personality, yet now close friends—had grown fond of hanging around him. Their presence had become natural.
Rina greeted him with her usual smile.
"Good morning, Alex!"
He smiled back. "Good morning, Rina. You seem as cheerful as ever."
Selene offered a more reserved smile. "Good morning, Alex."
The massive wolf stirred. Hati raised his head, blinked his purple-and-grey eyes, and gave a lazy woof.
Both girls giggled.
"Good morning to you too, Hati," they said in unison.
The wolf nodded, then promptly laid his head back down and resumed sleeping.
Alex sighed again. This lazy bum...
BOOM!
The door flew open.
A tall, elegant woman entered. Dressed in her usual form-fitting clothes, she looked more radiant than ever.
Emilia Aurelwyn had returned.
She scanned the room with sharp eyes before offering a warm smile.
"Hello everyone. Good to see you after a long time."
Excitement burst across the classroom as students began chattering and calling her name.
"QUIET."
Her voice thundered like a storm. Instant silence fell.
"Yes, I’m back. Yes, I had a breakthrough. No, I won’t tell you about it."
A few students chuckled nervously.
"Let’s begin with attendance first."
After the roll call, Emilia clapped her hands and spoke in a firm tone.
"From today onward, recruitment into clubs is open. There will be no more mandatory classes like this."
The room broke into gasps and excited murmurs. Emilia raised a hand to keep them quiet.
"Daily classes—combat, history, herbology, and more—will still be held. You’re free to attend whichever you wish."
She looked around the smiling faces, then continued.
"Missions will be assigned in groups. Most of the time, teachers will decide your teammates. You will not receive any B-rank or higher missions for now."
"One mission per month is mandatory. Failure to complete it will result in a 10,000 credit penalty. No exceptions."
The room quieted again. The weight of her words settled in.
"If you ever need help, I’ll be available in my office."
With that, Emilia turned and walked out, her voice and presence still echoing in the air.
The room erupted again, this time with laughter and relief. Students began filing out, thrilled at their newfound freedom.
Riven Veylor stood up, tall and composed, with a confident gleam in his eye. A girl walked beside him—long legs clad in white leggings under a short blue skirt, a dark top hugged her figure beneath a fitted blue blazer.
All eyes followed her as they exited the room. Her steps were slow, hips swaying hypnotically, captivating the class.
"Are we going straight to the club?" Lyra asked softly, a sweet smile on her lips.
Riven nodded. "Yes, we are."
He turned to her, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"We’re going to increase our training once we join."
Lyra gulped, her fist clenching. "We already train so hard I crawl back to my room half-dead... I still feel sore from yesterday."
Riven laughed. "You need to get stronger if you want to walk beside me."
Resolve filled her eyes. "Then I’ll train as much as you want."
"That’s my girl."
After most students had left, Alex stood up. Hati did the same, stretching lazily before leaping off the desk. With his piercing, dual-colored eyes, the beast looked even more intimidating in the silence.
Selene and Rina walked beside Alex as they made their way to the fourth floor.
There, they stopped in front of a plain wooden door with a simple plaque hanging beside it:
Rebel Club.
Knock knock.
Click.
The door swung open, revealing a tall girl with wild crimson hair, matching crimson eyes, and lean, sculpted muscles. She wore a sleeveless shirt and tight maroon leather pants of the same shade. Her voice, thunderous even at a normal tone, asked bluntly:
"Are you newbies?"
Alex nodded. "Yes, we’re here to join."
She stepped aside. "Come in."
They entered the room—a simple space with wooden chairs arranged in neat rows, all facing a small, raised platform.
Dorian walked over, extending a hand.
Alex took it. "Sir, I want to join the Rebel Club."
Selene stepped forward, her voice calm. "I’ll be joining as well."
She glanced at Rina. "She’ll be joining with us."
Dorian clapped with a bright grin. "That’s wonderful!"
"I love it when people from the Ten Clans join us," he added with a laugh that echoed through the hall.
He gestured toward the girl who had opened the door. "Tina Drakthorn—Vice President of the club."
Tapping his bracelet, he said, "Please accept the notification on your devices."
All three tapped "Yes" on their bracelets.
With open arms, Dorian declared, "Welcome to the Rebel Club!"
Everyone in the room—including Tina—just stared at him, expressionless.
He coughed and grinned shamelessly. "Ahem... training starts in a week. That’s when we’ll assess your skills and assign your positions."
"We’re twenty members strong now—with you three included."
Alex raised a brow, disappointed. "That’s it?"
Dorian laughed, pointing at him. "Don’t give me that look. You’ll understand in a week."
Alex nodded slowly and turned to leave.
Dorian watched him go and sighed. These kids are too uptight...
As Alex walked alongside Selene, he glanced at her. "Honestly, I thought you’d join the Frostreign Club no matter what."
Selene sighed. "I don’t want to follow someone unworthy."
Ring—Ring.
Both Alex’s and Rina’s bracelets vibrated at the same time. They stopped, exchanged looks, and tapped the alerts.
A blue screen flickered into view:

In a private practice hall lit by soft white lights, a boy and a girl moved with precision and speed. Both were clad in tight training gear, armed with daggers.
Clang! Clang!
The sound of blades echoed off the mirrored walls.
The girl dashed forward, sliding low across the polished floor. A thin layer of water coated her feet, reducing friction and giving her a burst of momentum. Her dagger gleamed—aimed straight for the boy’s chest.
In a blink, the boy vanished—blink-step—and reappeared behind her.
He lunged, his blade slashing toward her exposed back.
Cling!
A water shield shimmered into existence just in time, blocking the strike.
She twisted low, swept her leg, and lunged at his ankles.
Slash!
The boy leapt back, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Breathing heavily, he gave her a tired smile.
"I think... this time, you got me."
Lyra dropped onto the floor with a soft thud, her breath ragged.
"Ahh... finally," she exhaled, sweat glistening on her brow.
Ding.
Her bracelet vibrated. The screen lit up with a mission notification.
Eyes wide, Lyra sat up and checked it.
Riven walked over, crouching beside her.
"What happened?" he asked, voice calm.
Still catching her breath, Lyra looked at him and smiled.
"I... got... the... mission."
Riven frowned slightly. "Mission?"
"Here," Lyra said, extending her arm toward him.
Riven leaned in and read the glowing text on her bracelet. His eyes narrowed. "Do you want me to go with you?" he asked, voice tinged with concern.
Lyra retracted her arm and shook her head.
"No, I don’t think it’s a difficult mission."
Suddenly, a blue screen flickered in front of Riven.
[System]: You should let her go. She needs to grow stronger—for you.
Riven’s expression darkened. "System, is this a dangerous mission?" he asked mentally.
[System]: As per calculation, it is not a dangerous mission.
He didn’t relax. His eyes stayed narrowed. "Don’t lie to me. I know for a fact that you can analyze the dimensional rank more accurately than anyone."
[System]: Host should trust the system. The system always provides knowledge beneficial to the host.
Riven scowled, silent.
Lyra touched his hand gently, eyes soft. "Are you okay?"
His face changed instantly. He smiled at her.
"I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. Just let me know if you need anything for the mission."
Elsewhere...
Alex walked alone toward the mountain forge, with Hati, the massive wolf, padding quietly beside him—its shoulder nearly reaching his chest.
He knocked on a thick stone door embedded into the side of the mountain.
After a moment, the door creaked open, revealing a stocky dwarf holding a hammer nearly as large as himself.
The dwarf looked Alex up and down, then grunted, motioning him inside with a jerk of his head.
Alex stepped into the forge—and was immediately hit by a wave of intense heat. The air shimmered, heavy with the scent of molten metal and burning stone. Sweat formed instantly on his brow.
The dwarf returned, carrying a weapon wrapped in thick cloth. He pulled it free, revealing a three-meter spear.
The shaft was obsidian-black, etched with glowing green runes. The blade—emerald green—was long and curved at the base before tapering to a wicked, razor-sharp point. Both edges shimmered dangerously. The entire weapon pulsed with an eerie aura, like it was... alive. Hungry.
Alex felt a chill run down his spine.
