The Fallen Hero Reincarnates as the Demon King's Son
Chapter 88 - 87 - Movement Technique

Chapter 88: Chapter 87 - Movement Technique

They went to the backyard as Caliste began thinking about what he could possibly ask the person in front of him for. After all, he could see that this man had a lot of knowledge about demonic arts. But it would also depend on whether or not he would agree to teach him.

That was the main question here.

The butler’s role was definitely meant to be vague per the Demon King’s orders.

There was also the fact that Caliste was a complete noob when it came to demonic arts. He had no idea what to ask or where to even start. He had stayed away from them in both lives. But now that he was a demon, he might as well learn them. He knew just how powerful they could be.

"Young Master Caliste, what do you want to start your training with?" the butler asked, with a hand behind his back, completely straight. "I will try my best to assist you in everything you want to achieve."

He almost spoke like a robot. It was almost scary, but Caliste didn’t care too much about it. He quickly got used to it since he seemed pretty useful.

"I want to learn demonic arts."

The statement was definitely vague and without much precision, so much so that the butler found himself slightly frowning.

"I see... what kind of demonic arts do you want to learn?"

Caliste shrugged. "Powerful ones."

The butler raised his eyebrows for a short moment, thinking that Caliste was one big stupid person.

But nevertheless, his job wasn’t to pass judgment.

"I see, that’s great. However, do you want combat-type demonic arts, movement-type, or sword-type demonic arts? There are a great number of them. I can help you, but you will have to tell me what you want to learn because, as far as I can tell, you haven’t trained in the demonic arts your entire childhood."

The butler had given this statement without even asking Caliste. He had been able to tell with a glance, which was out of this world. Caliste had no idea how he could tell, but the fact that he had just said that made Caliste respect him that much more.

Nevertheless, now that he was met with choices, Caliste closed his eyes as he began to think about what he lacked the most right now.

In terms of combat techniques, he believed that he was pretty decent right now. He didn’t think that adding another one would change much in his abilities since it would be techniques related to fighting with his fists, which wasn’t part of his plans.

Then, there were the sword techniques, which weren’t something that he desperately needed since he had the Demonic Heavenly Thrust—a strike that was very powerful, but that was also the only technique he had at his disposal for the moment. He had mastered the sword, but he didn’t have a lot of flashy sword techniques apart from that one.

As for the movement techniques, Caliste was thinking of choosing those to learn first. The reason for that was that he didn’t have any, and he had never learned any in his past life, which had often cost him in fights against demons, where they would move much better than he at any given time. He would often win by sheer force against those demons.

Caliste nodded as he thought clearly about each option.

He formed a plan in his mind and would make sure to follow it.

The first technique that he would learn would be a movement technique since that was what he needed the most at the moment. After that, he would learn a sword technique to use with Excalibur, maybe two sword techniques depending on how quickly he would learn each of the said techniques.

"I want to learn a movement technique."

Caliste didn’t have any hesitation in his voice, which surprised the butler a little, as he had imagined Caliste struggling to make his choice. But the other reason it was surprising was that Caliste had chosen the type of techniques that most people would never pay attention to when they were the most important ones.

"Did you have a technique idea in mind?"

He shook his head. Caliste didn’t know any technique.

"Mhm... well, I can choose one for you. However, I would need to have a glance at your fighting style to do so. If you accept, we could have a quick duel between the two of us. Don’t worry, no one will be hurt or injured by the end of it. I just need to have a glance at how you fight."

Caliste nodded, thinking that made a lot of sense. "Sure, let’s fight."

Caliste had wanted to see just how powerful this butler was in the first place, so this was a no-brainer.

The two of them looked each other in the eyes; the butler was very relaxed, still in the same position as earlier, with one hand behind his back.

"Are you ready?" he asked.

Caliste only needed a second before dashing forward right away.

The butler only smirked as he decided to focus on defense, since that would be the best way for him to get a good idea of how Caliste would fight.

Right as he dashed, the butler’s mind began taking notes.

’He’s fast and swift. Let’s see how hard he hits.’

He received the first punch, which was easily blocked by the butler.

’Hm. Not bad. The Demon King was definitely right for sending me here. This youth has a lot of potential as long as the person teaching him is good enough. He seems to be a fast, heavy-hitter.’

Within seconds, the butler had already managed to tell what kind of fighter Caliste was in terms of his offense. It was now time to test his defense.

The butler took a step forward as Caliste immediately backpedaled, waiting for the strike. With one attack, he had felt just how powerful the man he was fighting was. He had given his everything in that strike, and he hadn’t even managed to make him move from his original position nor had he managed to change his position.

With the blink of an eye, the butler reappeared in front of Caliste and raised his arms as he wanted to check his reaction time.

’Decent at best. There’s definitely work here.’

Then he looked at his footwork.

’Disaster. He seems to be fighting purely on instinct. He definitely needs a movement demonic art. If he learns it properly, his fighting strength will be much higher.’

The butler made a feint and moved his right foot behind Caliste’s ankle, making him fall to the ground at once.

"I have finished analyzing your fighting style. Your offense is decent but filled with gaps because of the strength behind each of your attacks. As for your defense, it’s horrible, especially your footwork. You definitely made the right decision in wanting to learn a movement technique."

Caliste was mind-blown by how quickly the butler had managed to give him an analysis of his fighting and strength. Caliste had no idea why the Demon King had sent someone like him to help him, but he could only appreciate it.

"Do you have any idea what kind of movement technique could fit me?"

The butler rubbed his chin for a short moment. "Possibly. I have an idea. Wait here."

The butler disappeared from his position before reappearing a few moments later as if he were some kind of ghost.

This time, he had a book in his hand and threw it onto Caliste with a smile on his face.

"Read it and learn the theory for tomorrow. We will start your training tomorrow morning."

Within minutes, the relationship had changed from Caliste being the Master to being the Student. Caliste had to admit that it was impressive, and he also didn’t complain since this man was definitely one of a king when it came to strength.

With that said, the butler turned around and headed back toward the castle.

"I will be waking you up as the sun rises tomorrow. Make sure to be ready."

Caliste only nodded mindlessly as he glanced at the book in his hands.

[Ghost Step - Demonic Arts]

[Grade: Five Stars]

He wasn’t sure what the grade meant, but five stars seemed to be decent for a movement technique. Caliste opened the book and began reading it while sitting on the ground. He would make sure to understand the theory as fast as possible so that he could start practicing it as soon as possible.

’T-This is amazing!’ Caliste thought after only reading a single page.

Caliste had no idea where the butler had disappeared, but the technique he had given him was definitely incredible; there was no doubt about it.

For the following hours, Caliste continued to read the book in his hands with awe and surprise, as he had never thought to move in such ways.
