Chapter 83: Chapter 82 - New Arrivals

A demon had obtained Excalibur.

Caliste immediately understood that the situation had reached heights that were definitely abnormal. Never in a million years would he have expected to see such a valuable sword in the hands of demons.

Caliste hadn’t even moved yet, as he was frozen in place because of the shock of seeing his sword in the hands of a demon.

"How did you get this sword?" Caliste repeated as he clenched both his fists.

The Death Mana surrounding him grew at a rapid pace that even Canna found strange.

The black aura surrounding his body had doubled in a very short amount of time. There was definitely something strange about Caliste for him to have such a strong reaction to a sword.

Still, Canna didn’t seem perplexed or scared. Instead, he laughed without restraint, showing his confidence.

"Hahaha!" He smirked. "Are you jealous, little brother?"

He swung the sword in the air masterfully, surprising even Caliste, who hadn’t expected to see such skill with the sword.

His brother was definitely stronger with the sword than with his fists.

"Well, if you really want to know, Father gave it to me as a gift."

Caliste wasn’t surprised that the Demon King was the one responsible for giving it away. However, Caliste was a lot more furious at Alek than anyone else.

Giving up such a powerful sword to the Demon King in exchange for some greedy power was truly pathetic.

’I should have never given him the sword in the first place.’

Caliste shook his head as he remembered pitying Alek in the past. A moment that he now deeply regretted.

Liana, who was inside his mind, could feel the emotions that Caliste was currently going through, and she knew that if she didn’t do anything, things could go very badly in this situation.

"Caliste, calm down."

She called out to him in his mind, but it was as if it fell on deaf ears as Caliste continued to look at Canna with pure hatred in his eyes. Liana could recognize this gaze at any given time; she hadn’t seen it often in her past life, but every time she did, someone had died.

When Caliste became serious about a fight, that’s when you knew that something big would happen.

Every time he had gotten serious, someone had died—either him or the person he was fighting.

And he had only lost once... when they had betrayed him.

"Caliste, you can’t kill him. If the Demon King learns of this, then he will kill you. You’re not ready to face him."

Again, there was no answer or change in his behavior.

"CALISTE! LISTEN TO ME!"

Liana shouted; she tried her best.

And the only response she got was a low mutter.

"I’ll get this sword back even if it means that I’ll die. How dare he have it."

"What did you say, loser?" Canna said with a big smile on his lips, thinking that his words had impacted Caliste mentally. He had no idea that it was related to the sword he was using.

"Give me that sword, and I will let you live."

Liana rolled her eyes to the back of her head.

The worst had now happened; there was no going back now.

"Kill me?!"

This time, Canna laughed even louder.

"Y-You really think you can kill me?" Canna said, struggling to finish his sentence because of how hard he was laughing.

However, Caliste wasn’t in the mood for laughing. He grabbed a throwing knife that he had hidden in his right boot and threw it in Canna’s direction.

He hadn’t thrown it randomly; it was aimed in a very specific direction.

His heart.

Canna managed to dodge it quite easily. But the purpose of this attack was more of a warning than anything else.

"Let’s fight to the death, ’brother,’" Caliste spat out with pure hatred in his eyes.

Meanwhile, inside the cave, Rachel and the adviser were talking to one another about what could have possibly happened inside the cave.

Rachel had tried to take a glance at the inside of the tunnel filled with magic runes, but now that Caliste had come back, all the magic runes had disappeared as if they had never been there in the first place.

-BOOM!

Suddenly, just as she was about to leave the tunnel, a large explosion echoed from far away.

She almost fell down because of how badly the ground shook. The adviser and Rachel looked each other in the eyes almost instantly, immediately understanding that they needed to check out what was happening outside.

They ran as fast as they could to the outside of the cave, and what they saw shocked them right away.

Caliste was fighting against someone.

The two of them looked extremely serious about this fight.

Rachel tried to guess who the person he was fighting against was, but she couldn’t quite pinpoint his identity.

She knew from a glance that he was a demon, but she didn’t have more information.

She believed that he was a heretic since he was attacking the son of the Demon King, something that no normal demon would ever even try in their lifetime.

But then, Caliste spoke up.

"Give me that sword, and I will let you live, brother."

The tone of his voice.

It was so cold and icy that even Rachel, someone who was supposedly much stronger than Caliste, felt shivers running down her spine. She had never seen such a gaze in the eyes of Caliste. It looked like he wanted to kill and destroy everything that would get in the way of his brother.

’Why is he so angry?’ Rachel thought with a frown as she watched the two brothers fight.

She knew that she couldn’t intervene in such a fight. It wasn’t her place, and there was a chance that she would be the one dying if she tried to stop this madness.

’Why do the sons of the Demon King hate each other?’

But then Caliste spoke again.

"That sword isn’t yours. It’s mine."

He talked once again about that sword that his brother wielded.

’Is it because of that sword that he’s fighting his brother?’

Rachel closed her eyes and tried to feel the aura of both individuals and immediately understood just how wide the disparity between Caliste and his brother was.

Caliste was much weaker than him.

From a pure statistics and logical point of view, it was as if Caliste were an ant fighting against a human who could trample on him at any given time.

However, the reality of the fight unfolding before her was much different. Caliste was actually managing to hold his ground against the human, as an ant. In fact, he was the one pressuring him. He was actually the one moving faster.

’H-How is that even possible? And why is there such a strong Death Mana presence surrounding him?’

Rachel knew that Caliste had both Life and Death affinities. However, the concentration and size of the Death Mana surrounding Caliste at the moment made little sense. It was unlike anything she had seen before.

Even standing from far away, she felt like she would age thousands of years in seconds if she stood too close to him. She could only imagine the effects that this Death Mana had on his brother.

-BOOM!

And then, as Rachel continued to watch, Caliste finally managed to land a good hit on his brother, punching him into the ground, causing yet another earthquake.

"What’s happening?" Ava muttered under her breath. "Is the train supposed to shake this much?"

"Mhm... I don’t think so. Last time I took it, everything was going smoothly. There must be something happening inside the Dwarven Territory. Let’s just hope that Caliste isn’t the one causing that problem."

Ava and Aleia could not look out of the windows just yet, as there was only dirt on both sides. However, they should be arriving soon at the Dwarven Territory, where they would ride over it and be able to take a glance at what was happening down there.

"Oh, we’re finally out of that tunnel..." Aleia immediately said with a smile on her face as she peeked out below her.

She tried to look for anything that could have been causing those tremors, so she started scanning the territory as a whole.

It was a good thing that it wasn’t too big, giving her enough time to analyze all of it. And that’s when she saw two distant silhouettes fighting against one another.

"I-I think there’s a fight happening..."

"Where?" Ava asked right away.

Aleia pointed in the said direction without much thought.

"Isn’t that Caliste?! Why is he fighting against someone else?" Ava said, as she could recognize her sweet boy anywhere in the world.

Aleia tried to watch both individuals, but she really couldn’t tell if it actually was Caliste down there.

"Are you sure it’s him?"

But then, as Aleia looked to her right again, Ava was no longer in her seat.

"M-Mom?!"

Right as she called for her, she saw her flying down toward Caliste at an incredible speed.
