The Fallen Hero Reincarnates as the Demon King's Son -
Chapter 58 - 57 - Yopi
Chapter 58: Chapter 57 - Yopi
The person in front of them was an anomaly. His strength was three times... maybe even four times higher than everyone else in this camp.
The respect the others showed before him also highlighted the fact that he was much stronger than the rest of them. They were all scared of him. That was not something that was usual, even if he was supposed to be the chief of the camp.
’Can I beat him?’ Caliste thought as he observed him carefully, trying to gauge his strength.
He had already asserted that he would have to fight without holding anything back, but... this person was even stronger than he had anticipated.
’Should we have gone back?’
Caliste shook his head in a decisive manner, removing the doubts from his mind.
He had never backed down from a fight in his life. That wouldn’t start today; he would face the man before him with everything he had, and then he would ask him some questions.
-Ding!
[You have received a new quest.]
[Quest - Survive]
[Difficulty: Very Hard]
[Description: Survive against the punished captain of the Demonic Heretics. Try to survive until people arrive to help you out.]
[Rewards: ???]
Caliste had no choice but to gulp.
Even the system was now against him. It was practically telling him that this fight was unwinnable. However, that was no reason to stop believing in himself. The heavens had been wrong in the past; he would just have to prove them wrong again, even if the odds were extremely low.
"Fleur. You should leave."
Caliste looked her dead in the eyes.
"Sit this one out."
Fleur’s eyes widened as she felt how Caliste had turned. She had never seen this look in his eyes. It was unlike anything she had experienced in the past. He had never looked this serious, even when he faced a professor at the academy.
It showed her just how strong their opponent was, and instead of complaining, Fleur understood her role perfectly. She nodded at Caliste’s words as she moved back slightly.
She needed to find a window where she would be able to flee from this place and call for help from the kingdom. It was clear that this opponent outclassed the two of them.
And while Fleur was right about her role, the other reason he wanted Fleur to leave was that he would have to use everything he had ever learned, which included techniques that weren’t quite demonic...
"How romantic..." the man said with a smile as he placed his sword into the ground and watched the two. "Though, are you sure you can handle me all by yourself?"
Caliste didn’t reply as he brandished his sword before him, ready for any attack that might come his way.
"Well, I guess this answers it."
The man shook his head as he couldn’t help but laugh to himself.
"I admire your courage, young man."
Caliste still had the fact that he was the son of the Demon King in the back of his mind. However, he doubted that it would help him out of this situation since most of those heretics hated the Demon King. He thought that it might make the situation even worse and anger the man before him.
"I’m Yopi, a high-ranked member of the heretics. Just so you know, I was not supposed to be here. However, some of my actions made it so the higher-ups found it appropriate. I guess killing a few hundred of our own men didn’t exactly please them..." he said with a smirk stuck on his face. "Though, it’s not like it was my fault that they were so fucking stupid. Anyway... let’s end this quickly; you interrupted my sleep, and for that, you should be punished."
Caliste gulped as the man simply stood there, relaxed, not even holding onto his sword.
However, the craziest thing was that even while he was in such a bad position, Caliste could not find a single opening on the man. There was visibly no way that he could beat him.
But then, the calm atmosphere suddenly became heavy as Yopi straightened his back and picked the sword up from the ground, pointing it toward Caliste.
Waves of demonic energy immediately clashed against Caliste, making shivers appear all over his body.
’If I’m to use this technique... I’ll have to kill everyone nearby.’
There was a technique Caliste knew that could kill the man before him. However, the problem with using it was that it was a technique that only the past him could use.
A technique that made him the strongest human to have ever walked the world.
’If one of those old traitors sees someone using this technique, they are bound to kill me.’
The main problem here was Fleur. Caliste needed to buy time for her to leave as fast as possible.
Without saying another word, Caliste dashed forward.
"RUN!" he screamed toward Fleur, who immediately sprang into action.
Yopi just smiled as he watched Fleur trying to run away. He didn’t care about her. Even if she called reinforcements, he didn’t believe that there was anyone within the elven kingdom who was remotely close to his strength.
-Cling!
"So... that was your plan," Yopi muttered. "I have to admit that I expected a little more..."
Caliste swung his sword again.
Yopi countered his attack without even looking at him, yawning.
"Is that really the best you can do?" he said as he suddenly smirked. "I know that you’re hiding your strength, young man. Come on... attack me with everything."
Caliste looked behind toward Fleur, who finally crossed the ramparts.
"Should we chase her, sir?" one of the guards from earlier asked.
However, Yopi noticed the gaze of Caliste and where it was looking. He understood what was going through his mind instantly.
"Mhm... you’re hiding some things from this girl. I see," he muttered under his breath before talking to the other guards. "Let her go; she can leave."
"Though, if you want to really hide your strength, I’ll have you know that someone else is watching our fight. She’s up there," Yopi said as he pointed with his sword toward a random tree high up in the sky.
Caliste dashed back, out of Yopi’s range, and looked toward the tree where he saw his sister standing on the edge of a large tree branch.
’Fuck... she could have seen me use that.’
"Do you want me to deal with her? That way we can continue our fight seriously."
Caliste was stunned.
This man was crazy. An absolute madman who loved battle over everything else.
