Chapter 292: Chapter 292: I Have a System

Everyone was stunned by her words.

"Rebirth, is it the rebirth I know?" Ariel Zimmerman widened her eyes. "But isn’t she called Hestia Knight?"

Shouldn’t it be Ianthe Lawson who was reborn?

Sebastian watched several of the original novels due to the drama offers he received; he understood this well enough and explained,

"Rebirth can also mean a person being reborn in someone else’s body. Some people also call it transmigration."

More often, transmigration is when someone from this timeline crosses over to another timeline’s individual.

Amber Livingston listened to Sebastian’s explanation with a bewildered expression,

"Isn’t this supposed to be called possession by a ghost?"

"I’m not a ghost! I’m human!" Hestia Knight retorted upon hearing, "I’ve been reborn! I possess the original owner’s memories."

She had read many novels, where inheriting the original owner’s memories is called rebirth, not ghost possession!

She wasn’t dead!

"You say you are reborn, so why were you reborn into Ianthe Lawson? What was the trigger for rebirth?"

"There wasn’t any trigger; I just wanted to become a celebrity, so I became one. Perhaps I’m just destined for it!"

Due to the Truth Talisman, Hestia Knight made no attempt to hide her inner thoughts.

Director Xu watched her say this with Ianthe Lawson’s face and couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of his mouth,

"With those cringe-worthy acting skills of yours, how dare you say you’re destined for this?"

"Why wouldn’t I be?"

Hestia Knight retorted immediately without thinking, "If I’m not destined for it, why could I become Ianthe Lawson? Why was I chosen instead of anyone else?"

Hestia Knight’s words had barely left her mouth when she suddenly felt a bad premonition.

Scarlett Jennings and a few other guests keenly grasped the key point.

"It? Who is ’it’?"

Hestia Knight’s lips trembled upon hearing, seemingly wanting to resist. However, under Scarlett’s spiritual power support, she still honestly uttered the two words,

"Sys, System."

Upon hearing this, everyone present, including the live-streaming audience, was in uproar once again.

Finally accepting the existence of metaphysics, and now even a system comes into play??

Was the world preparing to cheat?

Scarlett didn’t read many novels and wasn’t quite familiar with the concept of rebirth and system; instinctively, she looked at Sebastian, who briefly explained the general role of systems in novels.

Scarlett understood then,

"The force that resisted the Truth Talisman just now came from your system, didn’t it?"

"Yes..."

"Then what was the task given to you by the system?"

"It wanted me to become Ianthe Lawson. As long as I successfully occupy this body for seven days, I could completely become Ianthe Lawson. In exchange, I must hand over Ianthe Lawson’s spi...ah!"

Halfway through her words, Hestia Knight suddenly clutched her head and screamed.

At the same time, everyone saw the Truth Talisman attached to her back suddenly ignite. With a whoosh, the flame burned the entire Truth Talisman into ashes within moments.

Scarlett’s eyes narrowed as she vaguely sensed energy seemingly escaping from Hestia Knight.

Without hesitation, she tore off the Jade Token hanging around her neck and hurled it toward the direction of the escaping energy,

"Heavenly Talisman Appearance, Invisible Ghosts, Rise and Seal!"

As Scarlett’s spell landed, the Jade Token suspended in mid-air suddenly emitted a Golden Light. The spell inscribed on the Jade Token swiftly took form in the void, binding together into a chain of runes, as if trapping something within.

Scarlett quickly performed a sealing gesture, and the chain of spells rapidly contracted, finally retreating back into the Jade Token.

With a lift of her hand, the Jade Token obediently returned to her palm.

The Jade Token remained just as it was, but its previously transparent body now had a slightly cloudy appearance.

Though she couldn’t see clearly, Scarlett was sure that whatever was inside had been successfully sealed.

Secretly sheaved a sigh of relief.

As long as it could be sealed, it didn’t matter what it was.

The audience in the live-stream once again marveled at Scarlett’s move, but before they could lavish praises on her, chaos erupted on the other end of the camera.

Suddenly, Hestia Knight, who was previously clutching her head and screaming, went silent. Her body went limp, and she collapsed, passing out on the spot.

Scarlett, observing the situation, couldn’t study if the so-called system was inside the Jade Token. She hurried forward to assess Hestia Knight’s condition.

If her guess was correct, the energy just now left Ianthe Lawson’s body to prevent Hestia Knight from revealing its purpose.

Recalling the words that Hestia Knight hadn’t finished, Scarlett vaguely speculated.

Yet there was no time to delve deeper.

Upon meticulously checking the soul within Ianthe Lawson’s body, Scarlett’s face darkened noticeably.

"Scarlett, what’s wrong with her? Is everything okay?" someone nearby asked.

Scarlett pressed her lips together in silence.

No, everything was not okay; the situation was worse.

Hestia Knight’s soul was no longer there.

Worse still, Ianthe Lawson’s soul wasn’t in this body either.

Currently, Ianthe Lawson’s body was merely an empty shell...

Not wanting to state this fact in front of the live-stream audience, Scarlett’s mind raced. She had to retrieve Ianthe Lawson’s soul soon, or the body would soon be declared dead.

The problem was, she had not asked where the so-called system had taken Ianthe Lawson’s soul.

Scarlett held her silence, while several guests seemed to detect that something was amiss with Ianthe Lawson.

"Scarlett... Scarlett... it seems Ianthe..."

Ariel Zimmerman’s voice trembled while calling to her; she felt Ianthe might not be breathing.

Could it be... death?

Ariel drew a sharp breath, almost gasping. Fortunately, Scarlett quickly stretched her hand, resting it on Ariel’s, and gave an imperceptible shake of her head.

To announce it now would likely incite panic.

Especially since they were live.

Ariel seemed to grasp something and bit her lip to suppress any noise, gazing at Ianthe Lawson, her eyes slightly reddening.

Seeing the situation, Sebastian and the others were filled with apprehension, opting not to ask questions. They acted like normal, suggesting they move Ianthe Lawson to the resting room, feigning unconsciousness, and reevaluate the situation once she awakened.

The on-site crew naturally nodded in agreement.

Evander Simpson also noticed something off about Ianthe Lawson, and to avoid detection, he straightaway scooped her up.

As he prepared to leave, Scarlett’s gaze fell upon one of Evander’s hands holding Ianthe Lawson.

"Wait a moment."

Perhaps due to her recent encounter with that energy, Scarlett now faintly felt the same energy in Evander’s hand, only much weaker.

Speculating something, Scarlett hastily questioned,

"Evander, apart from the resting room, have you been anywhere else?"

Evander was caught off guard by the sudden questioning, and simply shook his head:

"Except for the resting room, been only there and back."

"In that case, did your hand touch anything?"

Scarlett suspected he must have encountered an energy similar to the chaotic one, possibly leading to a clue to find Ianthe Lawson.

Startled by the inquiry, Evander momentarily paused before recollecting something, blurting out,

"That doll!"
